Fourth and Fifth Years: Class Two

Another day, another lesson. The last lesson hadn't gone as well as she would have liked, though she supposed that it was partly her fault. She had done the same potions last term but had done it to give the students moving up a term a chance to learn it. Well, Carina certainly wouldn't make that mistake again.

Carina had spent the time after the last class searching through various books she had inherited to find potions that would interest her students. She thought she had one this time. Walking into the classroom, Carina dropped her bags on the floor and took a seat. Digging through her bag, she finally found her notes for today. Leaning back in her chair, Carina flipped through them as she waited for the class to arrive. As an after thought, she turned and tapped her wand against the board, causing the name of the potion and the ingredients to appear.

Catseye Potion

Yellow Star Grass roots - 1/2 cup, dried
Eyebright flowers - 1/2 dozen, fresh
Hawk Moth antenna - 2
Robber flies - 4 whole, dead
Unicorn Pinkgill mushrooms - 4 tops, finely chopped
Timber Rattlesnake liver - mashed
Coal Skink eyes - 2, chopped
Boreal Toad eyes - 2, chopped
Locke Ness water - 1 liter

The fifth year walked inside the Potions classroom surprised that the class is deserted, What happened to the other students? Who knows. It was probably due to the fact that she's really early? today. That is odd.

It was not that the Slytherin usually gets late to class. It was just odd to find herself really early. Usually if she is early to class, there would be at least one more other student there. Guess she was wrong then.

The girl sat down at the back and quickly wrote down the ingredients for the potion they would be doing today.

Aaryn headed into class. How much fun. She would get to make potions. Yay! Not... Aaryn hated Potions class with a passion. It wasn't as if she didn't like the Professor, she didn't really care one way or another for her, it was just she was an awful Potions maker. Simply awful. She just didn't have the patience for it. She would never work anywhere Potions-related.

She looked up at the board. They were doing something called Catseye Potion. She wondered what it was. Whatever, it didn't matter. She stared at the ingredients list and decided that it was enough. There was no way she was going to make anymore potions. They had these horrible ingredients. She stared at the board for a moment longer before turning around and walking out of class.

Elesy being very busy lately, was making sure she got to class early. Elesy came through the many hallways, until she reached the Potion's Classroom. Elesy entered, and, took a seat, in the middle row. Elesy looked around, the classroom, was near empty, that was quite odd, actually. Elesy although shrugged it off, and, set her bag on the floor next to her desk. Elesy then, reached down into her bag, and, grabbed out a quill, and, her note-pad, and, she looked up at the board quickly, then wrote down what the board said.

Elesy then put her notepad aside, and, she looked around the near empty classsroom. Elesy sighed. Elesy then, looked at her watch, and, was shocked how early she had gotten here, for her, to be this early, it was an amazement, but, she was fine with that. Elesy sighed one final time as she waited.[/font]

Ashanti walked down the hallway, to be on her way to class.Her third class which was Potions.Ashanti walked into the classroom, to see she was really early.The Professor was there.But also only a few of the, other students were too.Ashanti then walked in completely, and looked around for a place to sit.Seeing so many open seats, to choose from.Finally she took a open seat in, one of the middle row.After Ashanti seated herself down, then got out her items for class.Her wand, a small parchment and pen.After she was done setting things up, Ashanti waited for class to start.

David entered the classroom and sat down on a seat. He looked at the board and wrote down what it had said. Catseye Potion. Well, that's what they would be doing for class today. The ingredients were mostly the ones the is written first.

Catseye Potion

Yellow Star Grass roots - 1/2 cup, dried
Eyebright flowers - 1/2 dozen, fresh
Hawk Moth antenna - 2
Robber flies - 4 whole, dead
Unicorn Pinkgill mushrooms - 4 tops, finely chopped
Timber Rattlesnake liver - mashed

Potions was an okay class to be in. It's not like anyone blew up anything or had any fun with it. Sebastiania took a seat next to Aaryn. She didn't know Aaryn well but sat beside her in other classes at time.

Sebastiania pulled out her books, etc. out of her bag and onto the desk. A sigh came from her lips as she waited for the class to begin. Things were less fun than when Lysander was upset over things, or seemed upset. She pulled her hair back into a pony tail and waited.

Carina watched as the students started to file into class, taking care to mark down that Kali was first to class. That did deserve house points, in Carina’s opinion. In the past, Carina hadn’t normally given them for showing up to class, but after some thought the Professor thought she might start giving them. Perhaps a few more people might show up to class then.

As Aaryn joined the class, Carina couldn’t help but smile. During her time as a TA, Aaryn had been one of her better students. The smile turned to a slight frown, however, as Aaryn studied the board for a moment before walking out of class. Shame really, as the girl had shown promise in the area, but if she didn’t want to be in class, Carina wasn’t going to waste her time chasing her down. Though, if she didn’t attend class, she would fail, simple as that.

A few more joined the class, just as Carina’s watch chimed the time. Pushing her hair out of her face, Carina stood and addressed the class. “All right, boys and girls, time to get started. Today we are going to make a potion that will allow you to see in the dark, it is called "Catseye" Potion. The effects will last for two hours and you can only take it once in a 24-hour period. If you take it a second time during that 24 hours window, you will grow a tail and want to nap in the sun. The shelf life of this bottled potion is 1 year.”

“It’s a fairly simple potion to make, so I’ll let you all get started.” Tapping her wand against the board, Carina watched as the directions appeared on the board.

Put water, Yellow Star roots, Eyebright flowers, and the Unicorn Pinkgill mushroom tops in cauldron and begin boiling. Once it comes to a full boil, drop in Hawk Moth antenna, and the Robber flies. Watch till potion turns pink, and then add the crushed Timber Rattlesnake liver and all the chopped eyes. Stir continuously - potion should now turn a lime green. Potion is done, let cool before bottling and label and date.

Awww another class she was late do. Dang it Lizzy get your act together. Sighing she slid into an empty seat in a back corner and pulled out parchment, ink, quill, and other supplies before writing down the ingredients and instructions.

Potion is done, let cool before bottling and label and date.

Pulling her cauldron out Lizzy started adding the initial ingredients of water, Yellow Star roots, Eyebright flowers, and the Unicorn Pinkgill mushroom tops into it. Once she had them all in there she lit a fire beneath it and waited for it to start boiling.

Violet entered the Potions classroom. She's late but at least this time she actually have a hint of what they were doing for class.

They were or are going to do the Catseye Potion. Violet, wrote down the ingredients and the steps that one needs to follow to make the potion before she stood up to get the things she needed.
