Overview of the Animagus [7th Years]

Luke walked into his classroom quickly, wanting to prepare his second class of the day before any students arrived. He took his wand out of his pocket, giving it a quick swish, ridding the classroom of all but four desks, one for him and three for his seventh year students. With another flick of his wrist, a medium sized cauldron appeared, sitting on a wood pedestal between his desk and the students', a simmering, clear liquid inside.

On each of the students' desks was an empty glass. If all went well, and notes took a short time, then he would have time for the students to take the potion. Luke sat down at his desk with his hands folded in front of him, his roster off to the side. He had three students this term, instead of two, for this class. He was thankful for another easy to handle class. On the board was written brief instructions for the students.

Welcome to your Animagus class.
Please take a seat once you arrive and do not disturb the potion.
I want you to take out something to write with and on, be prepared to take down a few notes.
I will give you further instructions once you arrive.

[Since I've moved this lesson up two days, you have three days to reply. I posted the class early just to boost some of the activity.]

Jodi was excited about her Animagus class. It was one she had been looking forward to for a long time. For that reason, Jodi had rushed to the class, hoping she would not miss a thing. As she walked through Entrance Hall from the lake, she spotted her house points, they where coming 2nd. For this she commended her house, after all, she wanted them it win it in her last year. Dispite this, she did feel a little bad. She was Head Girl of the whole school, not just her own house, so for some reason, she thought she should support every house in gaining points, not just her own.

Walking up the hallway toward the classroom door, she noticed the door was already open. She entered the class to see the professor sitting down behind his desk. Infront of him sat a cauldron, that she could see was bubbling away. There were only 3 desks laid out in the classroom. So there are only 3 7th years taking the class. Jodi thought.

She sat down on the middle desk. "Hello Professor. 3 students this term, I'm sure you're looking forward to the class, I know i am." She pulled parchment and a quill out of her bag, as she board had asked her too. She crossed her legs under the table, and began to doodle on the very top of her parchment.

Joe walked into the classroom only three people were inside the Professor, and Jodi the Head Girl. He really thought that he was going to be late but Joe made it in time. "Hello Professor Mercier, hey Jodi," He finished. The Ravenclaw walked towards the middle row and sat down grabbing his notebook and his quill.

Roxy ran her fingers through her hair as she made her way down the hall to the Animagus class. She was excited and slightly nervous. Roxy pushed open the door to find that there wasn't as many people there as she had expected. She shrugged.I'm probably early... She told herself. Roxy made her way into one of the front-row seats and flashed the teacher one of her great smiles. She was on vacation-once again-and decided that since she had missed at least the start of every mandatory class she would go to the second classes and take some optional ones. Roxy wanted to try anything animal-related.

Roxy noticed someone familiar and nearly jumped out of her seat.Joe! She hadn't seen him in quite awhile. Roxy grinned at him and waved."Hey,Joe..."She said with a happy tone in her voice.

As each student arrived, Luke gave them a curt but polite nod in welcome. The first two he had expected, but when another girl walked in, he took a look at his roster. Another name had appeared underneath the three he had expected, and he frowned slightly. Late addition, I suppose... Ah well. With one hand, he made a short wave, closing the door quietly, with the other jotting down to deduct a point or two from Slytherin for the late arrival, if he decided to arrive at all.

Luke cleared his throat shortly, hoping to get the attention of his three students. "Good afternoon. For those of you who don't know, I am Professor Mercier, your Animagus teacher. Today's lesson is vital to your achieving the Animagus transformation," he said, leaning back in his chair as he observed his students. "I'm going to assume that you already know what an Animagus is, or else you wouldn't have taken this class. This being your last year at the school, I will not be going over the history and whatnot of the Animagus; we will be focusing solely on your transformations."

With another wave of his hand, his wandless magic produced a piece of chalk which acted as a quick quotes quill on the board, writing down all he said in short note form. "Your Animagus form is not chosen by you, but rather is based on your personality. Needless to say, you are going to be taking the form of your inner beast." He paused, drawing his wand from his pocket to set it on his desk, and continued on.

"This," he said, inclining his head toward the potion that sat between the students' and his desk. "Was originally called Fateor Proprius Bestia Forma. It literally translates from Latin into, 'Reveal one's own beast or animal form'. But now, it is just known as the Animagus Potion. You don't need to write the full name down, but I figured you'd want to know what you would be drinking today. Any questions so far?"

Jodi watched as Joe and Roxy walked into the class. "Hey Joe," she replied. She listened as the Professor introduced himself, and explained what the lesson would intail for today. The Professor had talked about finding ones innner beast, the animal which Jodi would turn into. She knew she did not get to decided her animal, but always thought it would be nice to be a bird. She already knew how to fly by broom, but learning to fly herself, without a broom, excited her.

"What do you have to do with the potion?" Jodi asked the teacher. "We have to drink it, right? Then what will happen? I mean, how does the potion show us what our animal will be?"

Luke smiled broadly at the girl who'd spoken. "It reveals your bestial form, Miss Peterson. You see, none of you know what your form is as an Animagus, and that being so, you cannot properly begin your transformations. If you tried to do so, nothing would happen. Remember that Animagus is a branch of Transfiguration, and there are three keys to Transfiguration. First, you need the correct incantation. Second, you need to concentrate and visualize the transformation. Third is the wand movement. This all being said, what the potion does specifically..."

Luke reached down to a drawer on his desk, opening it to grab a rather large object. With a smile, he stood up, kicking the drawer shut, holding a wizarding camera in his hands. "You all will be transforming into your animal form, via potion. Questions?"

This made Jodi leap with joy. She was going to be an animal. She was going to see what it was really like being an animal. She thought that of course you needed to know you're animal, so you would know what animal you are becoming, but she never thought she WOULD BE THE ANIMAL. She thought maybe she would have a vision or something while drinking the poition.

"I have a question," Jodi said, with a huge smile on her face. "When do we start?"

Joe heard a familiar voice. It was an old friend that he didn't seen in a while. It was Roxy Hart, his best friend sense they were in Third Year. He gave a little wave to her because class just begun and he didn't want to get into trouble on the first lesson during class.

This was interesting to him. From two terms ago, the Professor told the students that they could pick their animagus, but now that the animagus would pick them. It made more sense that they have to find their inner beast but to come to think of it, Joe never really had an inner beast. He never really gone into fights unless the Professor means it in a different way but Joe is just a quiet type.

The Potion. No mater what the potion will give you your beast that will be your Animagus. Will the potion taste good, or bad, no matter what, Joe will find out for some of the basic question.

Joe was listening to Jodi's last question. It made a good point. When will they start. In a couple of minutes, till everyone knows what to do, after class, next lesson no matter what they will start drinking the potion. That was the best part about the lesson. Becoming an animalagus.

"Are there any ingredients to the potion Professor, just in case that we run out?" Joe asked Professor Mercier.[/color]

Roxy glanced around the room.She leaned forward in her seat after Professor Mercier shut the door. Class was about to start.There weren't many people in the class so far. Maybe the rest were...late? Roxy shrugged.It was their loss whether or not they were late.She averted her eyes back to the professor when he started to speak. Roxy blinked once she took in everything he said.Jodi,another girl in the classroom,asked a question and Roxy's eyes shifted from her to the teacher.

Her eyes widened slightly when he finally did reply. Roxy smiled to herself She actually never knew that there was a potion involved with becoming an animagus,so this lesson was actually interesting to her.Roxy ran her fingers through her blonde hair and thought for a moment. What would she turn into. Professor Mercier said that their animagus' form wasn't chosen by them,but by their personalities. What did Roxy's personality say about her. Oh...She was suddenly hoping that she wouldn't turn into a big,hairy rat or some foreign,weird creature.Roxy gulped.

Jodi asked another question and the thought immediately drifted away.Yes! When did they start? Roxy was starting to get slightly anxious just thinking about it. Joe slipped another question in and Roxy tilted her head to the side. If there were ingredients-which she was sure that there was-then what could they possibly be? That would leave Roxy pondering for a moment. She glanced up at the teacher and raised her hand before she could actually think about her question.

"Er...After we have transformed,how do we..."Roxy was trying to figure out a way to put her question,"...Un-transform?" It almost came out as if she were asking a language arts teacher and not an Animagus Teacher.

[Alexander W. Black]

Alexander walked in beated, with his school robes torn bit by bit. He had finished coming from the forbidden forest having some important business in it. It had been a terrible night, and he had practically missed most of his lessons but got to his last one. Which was Animagus. This was what he'd been looking forward to. Impatiently Alexander had ran through the corridor, careless about the way he looked and stupified everyone that was in his way.

Sighing completely, he smiled slightly at everyone. It looked like everyone had been waiting for him or something. This seemed disturbing. Rolling his eyes, Alexander slouched onto a chair. Looking up at the professor and crossed his arms. Wondering what would happen now. All he wondered was what animal he'd turn into. If he'd had to pick well, that would be a difficult decision now, wouldn't it?

[I'm sorry, I'm like barely home now-a-days. With school starting soon, and band camp going on. Everything is like AHHH! But I'll be here, so don't worry.]

Luke gave a slightly lopsided smile, setting his camera down on the desk. "We'll begin in a moment, but there are still a few things that I would like you to know." He gave the boy that entered the room a slight nod, but didn't speak. He looked a mess, but he would pursue the inevitable questions after class.

Luke sat down in his chair, the piece of charmed chalk beginning to write again. "Now, " he said as the chalk wrote in his handwriting. "Before you take the potion, I want you to take a few notes down. "

"These are the two incantations that you need to know. The first one transforms you into your Animagus form, it is Latin, roughly translating to, 'I change my body into a beast.' The second one changes you back. It also allows you to transform a person in their Animagus form back to their original selves. Also, when you are in animal form, your mind may not be as complex as it is now, but you will be able to preform the second incantation."

Luke cleared his throat and stood up straight, waving his hand so that an empty glass appeared on each of the students desks. "Once you master your transformation like I have, you will be able to transform back into your human state without much effort at all. In fact, I rarely have to clear my mind now and recite the second incantation unless I am exhausted. As for your question Miss Hart, the potion will take care of each transformation. Any last minute questions before we move on?"

Jodi read the lines of text over 3 or 4 times each to try and remember them. She was excited as all hell. She started to fidget with her quill, on her paper. She decided to write down the two incartations, so she could learn to master them for later, to make her transformation better and clearer.

[Joe Moon(gone)]

This was very exciting to Joe, well it should be exciting to everyone else inside the room. Finally getting to their own aminagus form is like a feild trip for some kid was waiting for in his life. It was more than that to him. He doesn't know what he is going to be though but it doesn't matter to Joe. All that he would want to find out what he will be.

The Professor wrote on the chalk board for everyone to write into their notebook. It was very important because if you just say it and you forget the other part, you might not remember what the second part is when you look at the paper that you have in your notebook. Joe wrote in underlind so it means it's very imporant to remember.:

After that the Professor translated the meaning to I change my body to a beast, so he wrote that next to the latin language of the meaning. O.K. then I just have to say the latin language of what he said, got it.

There was an empty glass that just appeared right next to his ink for his quill to write notes down. I'm going to guess that's for us to make the potion and us to drink the potion from to become an animagus.[/size]

"Right then..." Luke said flatly, seeing that no one was about to speak. He was becoming quite irritated with his class, having liked last term's better. Of course, he couldn't expect everybody to ask the right questions. Perhaps next term he'd get a more curious bunch. Sighing, Luke picked up his wand, waving it shortly so that a ladle appeared in the clear potion, which had stopped bubbling.

"Please gather your belongings and stand," he said in a dull tone, sliding his wand into his pocket and picking up his wizarding camera. "Now, the potion will do all the work. You don't need to do anything with the incantations," he said as he turned a few knobs on the camera, making slight adjustments. "You will most likely feel discomfort, this being your first time. You'll get used to it eventually. You'll be in your animal form for maybe a minute or two." When all the students had risen from their seats, Luke waved his hand to rid the room of their desks. "Peterson, you first. Fill your cup and when you've finished just set it on the ground.

[Jodi Peterson]

Jodi gulped when the teacher had said she was first. She sighed, swallowed her fear, and walked toward the cauldron, with the cup in hand. She used the ladle to fill her cup up. She stood back from the cauldron, and from the teacher and her three peers.

"Here goes nothing," she said with a fake smile on her face. She swallowed the clear liquid in 3 or 4 gulps and placed the cup onto the ground as she was instructed. She stood there, looking at the professor who was holding the camera, waiting for something to change.

She first felt the potion seem to bubble inside her. It felt like she had something crawling underneath her skin. Quickly, she closed her eyes, feel scared. She felt as though her hips where being turned outward, and her stomach was being sucked in. She lost her balance, and seemed to topple over onto all fours. She was surprised at the fact she did not hit the ground, but she managed to catch herself.

Jodi kept her eyes shut as tight as possible. Strange thoughts seemed to run though her head, as if things that she cared about so much didn't mean anything at all. She had a craving for grass, and for splashing into the water. It felt to Jodi that all she wanted to do was run and leap about. She needed to feel the wind run through her hair. Did she even have any hair?
She opened her eyes slowly, to look at her surrounding. She saw three figures, standing close to each other. They where slightly blurry, they had slightly undefined edges. She wanted to talk to them, to tell them how she felt, these weird sensations she was feeling. But when she tired to speak all she managed to mutter was a small neigh. It was then that Jodi realized who she was, what she had become. She was a horse, or a donkey or a mule or something. She looked down to where her legs should have been, instead, she saw two black hoofs.

Jodi stood still for a second, but felt like she was about to fall over. She felt uncomfortable. She felt weird. She stock her head from side to side, feeling her hair flick into her face. She waved her tail from side to side as well. She lifted herself onto what felt like her legs, (which where her back legs), and felt herself rise higher into the room. She felt a lot bigger, a lot smarter. But still all she wanted to do was run.

Suddenly, Jodi seemed to jolt toward the ground an inch or so. She looked down at her feet, and at her arms waving about in front of her. She watched as these limbs turned from black to grey, and back toward herself, they became shorter. She closed her eyes again, not feeling that she wanted to watch was she knew was about to happen.

Jodi felt dizzy and slightly pins and needles for about 5 seconds before she opened her eyes again. It seemed like sweat was pouring off her. Only a few feet away, she spotted the teacher and other pupils. "Oh my god," she said, taking in a deep breath. "What was I?" Jodi asked, taking a step toward the Professor, who still held the camera in his hands.

[The only suggestion I have is that you find a picture to help with the description of your form. Otherwise, well done. . Although, I still suggest you all take a look at the previous seventh year class.]

As Jodi began to transform, Luke raised his camera to his eyes, snapping a photo or two to capture the transformation. He took several more pictures, capturing her in her form and transforming back into her human state. He smiled slightly, making a few adjustments as he listened to her speak.

"You were a horse," he told her shortly, moving to lean on the front of his desk. Shifting his camera to one hand, he gave his other a wave, conjuring up a chair off to the side of the room. "If you feel dizzy or sick, please take a seat. Mr. Moon, whenever you're ready," he said, holding his camera at the ready once again.

Joe watched Jodi turned into a horse. It was pretty interesting to him from what a person that could turn themselves into a beast which was cool. What was he going to be? What will Roxy be? Right now, Joe just hopes that he will be something that is cool in his opinion. "O.K. Professor."

You can't really tell but Joe was nervous, nervous as in both scared and excited. At first that he looked at the cup, Joe didn't even see the liquid. He grabbed the cup and said, "Cheers." Joe raised his hand with the cup and drank the whole potion. It tasted weird, but then again all potions don't taste well. He couldn't feel the potion.

After that his body changed into something. He became something small, and have four legs. It was weird, he looked like a lizard or salamander. It took about three minutes to find out what kind of lizard he was. Now he was a Komodo Dragon Known to be the largest Lizards in the world. He had brownish tanish scales, not much real color but this will due. Now he has claws and very sharp teeth. This is cool! Joe always wanted to have four legs. It was cool and don't have thumbs so you have to do something else. The world just got bigger to him. The opposite to what Jodi transformed to. Whoa this is cool. I see big people! Before he was going to turn back into a human he stick his tonge at Roxy which was funny to him for a good laugh. Joe turned back into a human. "Whoa! Was I a Komodo Dragon."

Luke started taking pictures once again as Joe began to transform, taking one or two during the first transformation, while he was completely in his form, and then when he was changing back. He adjusted his camera as Joe sat on the floor, then looked at him with creased brows as he spoke. "Oddly accurate guess," he said in an unamused or enthused tone. "Yes, you were. Now please move off to the side. Hart, you're next," he said as he held his camera at the ready.

Joe just relized that he was sitting down on the floor. That was his first time being transformed into something how it works but it worked. The Ravenclaw stand up and moved out of the center of the classroom. Komodo Dragon. That was a cool reptile to be. It was a great time to walk around and now it was Roxy's turn. What would Roxy be a bat? Joe thought to himself. He already knows what she was but now he just needs to know what she'll be.[/size]
