He sighed a little bit when she pleaded for a new subject. He almost asked, why? but thought better. She was either irritated that he was questioning their relationship, or just didn't want to talk about it. Brayden believed it to be irritation so he just didn't say anything. At all. For fear that Demi would simply get up and leave if he ventured to another subject she didn't like. The only other subject he even walked to talk about was Telly. Because everything else in life was boring at the moment.
For a moment, he considered telling Demi about his and Telly's painting of the wall in Quality Quarters; SLYTHERINS RULE! But he thought she'd get irritated at that, too. For one, she was a prefect. Secondly, she wasn't a Slytherin.

Sighing herself when he didn't say anything, Demi just looked the other way. Even though she just asked not to talk about it, she found herself thinking back to that look he had given her, why he had asked if he treated her right. It wasn't that she minded the silence, it was just that the tension was building, she could feel it.
How could she go from almost laughing to this tense person, it was beyond her. Turning towards him, Demi almost asked something, but decided against it. Instead: "Are the cookies done yet?" She asked, trying to move pass the last conversation. Waiting for his answer, another question popped into her head. Why had he asked her to come and make cookies with him?

Right. The cookies. Brayden's head snapped up and he looked at the oven, half expecting smoke to be fuming from the cracks of the oven door. But, no smoke...thankfully. That might cause some unwanted attention from the Professors. And Demi being a prefect...that wouldn't go over well for her either.
He got up from his seat and opened the oven door. He slipped the oven mit on and removed the tray of cookies. "They're perfect." He told Demi. He dug through some drawers and found a small spatula. Brayden then used to it to remove the cookies from the tray and put them on a plate. A few of the cookies fell apart because they were so hot =/ But they would still taste the same.
Brayden placed the plate on their counter top and waited for Demi to take her pick of cookie. It was all good manners.

If it wasn't for the tense mood she still felt between them, Demi might have given a small laugh at his reaction. By the time he had them on the plate, that last question of why was something she really wanted to ask. Then that led back to the wondering what that look was.
Smelling the cookies out of the oven was nothing compared to the smell while they were cooking. Putting her arm around her stomache, she hoped the small growl it gave from the smell went unnoticed by him. The last thing she wanted him to think was she had an eating problem. It took her a moment to realize that Brayden was waiting for her to take a cookie.
Taking a bite of it, she smiled. "These are amazing, good call." Demi smiled. This wasn't her usual smile to hopefully move on, it was a real one. Sighing to herself, she knew there was something wrong happening, but she wasn't going to complain about it.
