There was no way for this to not be an awkward situation. Jokes aside, this was the moment in which Kat had to actually relinquish control over Straw to another woman. Of course it was not quite as black and white as that, but something about the way they both questioned her now made her feel like in this moment, maybe that really was that simple. They needed her permission. For their own sake and for the kids. It should be easy to give it, she had moved on herself after all, and Straw was not her home anymore, but she took a moment just the same, a few deep breaths and a few last tears before she turned around.
Some things aren’t exactly easy to say goodbye to, no matter how far gone you think it is.
She let out a low laugh, unrolling herself from the jealous, angry character she had just portrayed, and slipping with ease into the person she had come to dinner as. She surveyed the mess around her and with a quick cleaning charm she managed to get most of the sauce off table with a bemused smirk. Finally, when she could feel everyones eyes boring into her, she looked up, meeting Straw’s eyes across the table.
“Of course I’m okay with it Straw… Queety…”, her eyes lingered a moment on Straw before trailing across to Queety with a smile. “I’m sorry, I couldn’t help the dramatics. You two are so obviously in love we had to play a small prank on you to have some fun with the situation…” she shrugged, glancing across at Kelly now, wondering if maybe the had taken it too far.
“Queety, you’re a better woman than me and I know how happy you make Straw, and our children, but really, I have no more say in this than you two really did.” She smiled warmly then, crossing the room to embrace the pair in a hug. “I’m so happy for you both. Really.”
“Now, we really should eat…”
