The party was in full force and lots of familiar faces that Tristan had seen around the ministry as well as many unfamiliar faces were dancing, drinking and having a merry time. Even Kelly, who seemed a little tense when he had first walked in, was relaxing more and more by the minute. While he was not going out of his way to socialize too much, he was still enjoying himself just watching everyone else enjoying themselves. Queety and Straw definitely seemed to be having a great time enjoying each other. The Potters had finally made it onto the dance floor themselves and looked like they were having a great time as well. Perhaps it wasn't a bad idea after all to come out this night.
When Kelly announced that she and Carina were going to dance, Tristan was grateful that he was not being coerced into joining. "I greatly appreciate it," he said with a nod. "I'll keep an eye on all your drinks here and keep your seats warm. It's fine."
Another lawyer that he had worked with on many cases before came by and sat down, Tristan found himself striking a conversation with the woman. It was nice to see some of his colleagues not in their work clothes all the time but more relaxed and letting loose. And it was great to talk about things other than work. He did not even know that his colleague had two young children of her own. Of course this lead him to go on and on about his own daughter. It was a habit of this doting father that Emily was trying really hard to break as it was a source of great embarrassment for her. Luckily, she was not here tonight.
Just as Tristan was about to pull out some pictures of Emily, he glanced over at Kelly who had joined Kat and another man that Tristan did not recognize. It was purely a hunch but based on the scowl on Kelly's face and the discomfort on Kat's, he could only guess that this gentleman that they were speaking to was up to no good. Or at least not getting the signals that they were sending him that they did not want to associate with him. He excused himself from his colleague, forgot about the drinks and the seats he was supposed to keep safe and made his way through the crowd to Kelly, Kat and the stranger.
He approached them with a huge grin on his face. "Hey, ladies! Glad I found you! So many people here I thought you got lost. Everything okay?" he asked, raising his eyebrows, hoping Kelly would catch the silent question in his eyes, whether or not he needed to get this guy out of here, even if it was by force.
