Life is a series of pulls back and forth. You think you're getting a handle on your life, and suddenly the universe throws you a curve ball. An evil wizard tries to take over the world, or rogue goblins try to use their own branch of magic to turn to world into a ruby; Kelly Evans didn't know what it was, but she was quickly learning that whenever she thought life would start to settle down, that the craziness would finally give way to some stability, something insane and unbelievable happens to throw everything you thought right back up into the air.
It may not just be an evil wizard this time, but something, or someone, she supposes, was creating havoc with witches. Queety was the first case, and now there had been another four in the last month: witches had turned up at St. Mungo's bearing signs of attack and no recollection whatsoever as to what had happened. The attacks might be keeping her and the entire security department of the Ministry of Magic in jobs, but Kelly would quickly swear she'd rather be unemployed if it meant that men and women could stop getting injured.
To make matters worse, St. Mungo's was severly short-staffed, and Kelly, unfortunately for her, was feeling the brunt of it. With the magical accidents floor to run, the witch was now finding herself partially in charge of the poisons wing, which was a big enough job on its own. That was where she was found at the moment, running a hand through her messy blonde hair, trying to give orders to people who had too much work on their hands already. The world was going topsy-turvy, and while she didn't know why, she really wished it would stop.
"Look," she said to an unhelpful-looking orderly, getting thoroughly frustrated as the moments passed, "this really isn't very hard. Go and get another Mediwizard from one of the other floors, ask them to come down here right away, and then go and check on the third floor. I can't do all of these things by myself, and really you aren't getting paid to sit around and watch me tear my hair out!" Kelly turned on her heel and strode away, annoyed at herself now for losing her temper, and picked up the next patient's chart.
Oh yes. The world was a very different place than it had been a month ago.
