this thread is open ♥Darling, there's only so much you can do before you go mad.
Or at least, that was the simple logic of it all. A new term had come upon them, and while most people had been excited at the prospect of starting anew, Chelsea had visibly blanched at the thought of it. Starting anew meant that she had to rebuild everything, and it didn't appeal to her in the least. But then again, it was expected, considering she highly doubted that any familiar faces would meet her once more. It happened every time. A term change, she grew by a year, and everyone she vaguely had the impression of knowing disappeared like smoke. One minute they were there, the next they were just grey wisps of air slipping through her fingers. Intangible beings, she figured. That's what people around her were. She was never the ghost - they were.
Summer with her parents had been a complete havoc. Separately, her parents were manageable. Her father invested in her education and her mother in her growth, and the two when not together did a fine job of trying to bring up the only daughter that they had. However, when fate decided to be nothing short of a cruel jerk and brought the two together, Chelsea was left with snide remarks and death glares behind her back as her parents waged a silent war. The snappiness that she herself displayed was clearly, at moments like those, inherited from the two older members of her family. After all, their behaviour bordered on childish sometimes, with their incessant grudge that led to the familial split in the first place.
Well, the break had definitely been nothing short of frustrating with them. It seemed oddly inappropriate that returning to school was a ray of sunshine that Chelsea seemed happy for. And with good reason, for despite her parents' bickering, she had been able to take stock with her family. Her father's library had been thoroughly raided and emptied, her choice of books being shipped with her back on the train as she returned for the new term, along with promises by the paternal side to send her new books at due points of the term. This of course, was challenged by the fact that her mother also insisted on providing reading material for her child, which meant another promise of sending books in the girl's direction. There was absolutely no way that she could be bored this term, she figured.
Closing one of the books as she felt the familiar shape of her cat crawling onto her lap, she allowed a brief smile to appear. "You've grown fat," she lectured half-heartedly, knowing that if anything, her pet growing fat was definitely her fault. And the fact that the castle's rats were just too big for their own good. "I ought to stop feeding you, you know," Chelsea murmured in a soft tone, before shaking her head and brushing her hair out of her face. "Except if I didn't you'd actually get fatter. You've been fraternizing with the House Elves again, haven't you?" It wouldn't' surprise her. After all, Fitzwilliam tended to be more social than the Ravenclaw ever would be. Before she could continue with another round of conversation with her cat, a soft meow alerted her to the presence of another.
Said presence was met with a gaze to her left, the other's standing position easily towering over her sitting one. "Ah, people."
