Stubbornness.
That had always been one of her ultimate weaknesses and her strength. She knew this very well and she had heard this so many times coming from different people. But did it actually matter much to her? Not really. She had lived with that for years now and it never really gave her much trouble. There was also the slight chance that she didn't give a flying donkey about his stubbornness because it had helped her achieve so many things. It was because of her stubbornness she had won her case. It would've been a lie though to tell you that she did most of the work. Just like the past year, she was still considered as the youngest of the lawyers hence the constant guiding and watching over each and every move she made. A full year in the Ministry of Magic and she still wasn't given out any good clients. It did bother her, but instead of whining to anyone, she kept to herself. Maybe in a year or two she'll get someone who she could boss around.
Tidane brushed a curl of her hair in the back of her ear and gnawed the end of her pen. Yet another bad habit of hers. She had destroyed so many pens so far and she had considered a spell to make it stop, but she'd rather not let everybody know what kind of a pen murderer she was. So, quietly in the little square of hers, hidden behind all those papers, she kept chewing while reading what she had just written on the parchment. Her tiny and curly handwriting was in a somewhat nice line(she had to admit, she had a tendency to write thing a bit crooked) so she was satisfied.
A small, unnoticeable smile appeared on her face as she packed the parchment to a file and lifted her tiny body off from the chair.
To her surprise the offices were half empty. Did she miss some big meeting? Again? A small panic invaded her and she glanced to her left and then to her right. There were few people, hunching down and working just like she had a minute ago. Her eyes then managed to catch the time. It was noon. Exactly 12.02 PM to be exact. Tidane sighed from relief. The panic slowly left and she picked up her jacket. If everyone else were gone than why should she stay and starve? Driven by her own stomach and the fact that she missed the sunshine, Tidane let herself out from the offices. She knew she had mere 30 minutes until she had to go back, but 30 minutes was better than nothing. The sudden strike of optimism surprised her as she arrived in the centre of London. Why the hell was she so cheery all of a sudden?
Working right in the capital of England had it's pros and cons. Tidane loved and hated the buzz of the city, but in days of annoyance and aggravation, Tidane hardly left the safety of the offices or her apartment. Her father told her that she should get out more, but Tidane saw no reason for that. She had a good job, her life was on the right track and even though her father kept nagging her about the fact that she still didn't have a husband, Tidane was quite content with her life. Sounded very, very cliched didn't it? Tidane knew this herself, so with a small shrug she adjusted her jacket better on her body. She had no idea where should she head to. There were multiple options for her. In thirty minutes she could easily do something awfully reckless. In thirty minutes she could find herself a new dress or find something to lighten up her dim little apartment. The third option seemed more her liking. Since her father would come to visit some time next month, maybe it was about time to get some curtains as well(No, she didn't have curtains yet. There was a good reason for that, but unfortunately for Tidane she hadn't figured out what it was).
As the lunch hour crowded the city, Tidane had to snake her way to her destination. She hated crowds. She always had. Even back in school, she felt enormously uncomfortable with the hallways crowded with other obnoxiously loud students. The city of London was no different. She passed an old man playing the banjo(rather poorly too if I may add) and Tidane could swear she smelt the stink of urine on him. Disgusted by this, she shook her head and quickened her steps. She was at the Wand'Mart just in time to look around. She knew she would back at her desk in no time and she could bet her socks that no one exactly noticed that she was gone. A fraction of a smile was painted on her pale face as she strolled trough the shelves. Even if it was just a normal supermarket, she was still enjoying herself. It sounded very odd. She didn't want to look like a complete idiot just walking there with a stupid smile on her face, so she lead herself to the section where they sold all different kind of items for homes. Oddly enough there was an odd alarm clock that apparently was spelled to throw water at you when ever it was time to wake up. Tidane couldn't stop smirking. She didn't need an alarm clock like that, she had Fred to do those kind of pranks. Actually, if she remembered correctly, his attempts on waking her up with a bucketful of water had failed when the young woman had woken up earlier than Fred himself. So, being kind person, Tidane had suggested to do that prank on Will, Fred's brother and ironically, Tidane's father. Not that she hated her father, on the contrary, but it Tidane didn't want to see the disappointment look on Fred's face.
Deep in her own memories, the woman failed to notice all the different things that were on display the shelves. She hardly needed any of these things, but she indeed had a fun time imagining what would her uncle would do with them. The man had too much downtime. Tidane settled front of the image frame section and eyed the selection. Now came the hardest part of buying; Choosing.
