He sat in the darkness of his cottage, sipping from a cuppa and staring at the door. It was early morning, just before the break of dawn, and he was waiting patiently for something or someone to arrive. A newspaper lay open to the middle page where he read the recent happenings in London. Although he lived miles away from the city, it was still close enough to travel by foot or carriage. However, he was the apparating type because getting to places quickly got the deed done.
'Quarter to five. She should be here.'
His cuppa was getting cold, and so he went to warm it up again on the stove. For months his health had been improving with the help of her. If it wasn't for her and another, Eadric would have continued to deteriot until his body finally gave up. But he became stronger as all the minds of their victims connected like a web, linked to his own that he could feed energy from.
Eventually he became strong enough that he viewed the weak as pathetic, useless beings. Though under his control, they could do his bidding by infiltrating places such as the Ministry, school, and hospital. No one would suspect that Eadric was capable of such atrocities, but his life had always been one damned thing after another. The root of all his problems leading back to his eldest brother who was perfect in every way.
'It's five and she's not here yet.'
There wasn't much time to wait when a grown man was hungry. Whether she came now or later, Eadric had other plans to attend.
'I'll punish her later.'
Leaving his cottage with a heavy cloak clad around his body, Eadric headed into Hogsmeade, apparating with a loud crackle and pop. He appeared at a crossroads that had no traffic both on foot and transportation. His grayish-blue eyes scanning his surroundings for a nearby pub. It's been awhile since he visited Hogsmeade. He remembered spending his youthful days coming and going through the village because of school. Those days at Hogwarts were long ago, but he was always in the shadow of his brother. In Hogsmeade he could be himself, away from Aldrich and his friends.
They never got along. Never.
Eadric entered the Three Broomsticks, glancing around at the early customers who also had the same idea about breakfast. He slipped his cloak off and hung it on the peg before heading to a table in the corner. From his pocket, he brought out a pocket-watch, reading 5:15 in the morning. Returning the watch in his pocket, he reached in his other to take out a pipe and tobacco that was laced with peppermint. Stuffing the pipe with a small amount, he tore a match from the matchbook and striked it against the rough surface.
"Good morning mister. Would you like to start off with coffee or tea?"
Glancing up from his smoking pipe, Eadric leaned back in his chair and exhaled the smoke. "Coffee. Black. No cream or sugar," he replied. "Oh and can I also get some fried bacon, two eggs, fried bread, and black pudding." It was called a Full Monty in some places and was his favorite breakfast dish. Eadric watched while the waiter left to put in his order. In the meantime, he took the newspaper from under his arm and opened to the center where he left off.
A person cannot function on an empty stomach.
