Name: Alden Heathcliff Rooke
Age: 11
Gender: Male
Magical Background: Half-Blood
House: Ravenclaw, first year
Wand: Maple, Dragon Heartstring, 10 inches, Pliable
Appearance: Alden is of average height for a boy his age, not too tall or not too short. He fits right in amongst the crowd of sizes so to speak. His shaggy brown hair almost covers his eyes, but he likes to keep it somewhat manageable. His hazel eyes are piercing, almost as if he were looking into the very soul of whomever he is staring at. His mother always said he had searching eyes , as if he were trying to learn more about whatever he was looking at. Alden looks quite stern most of the time, very rarely offering a smile. He just stares, watches, and studies the world around him. Not one to feel threatened often, he will stare people right in the eye as if to almost make them feel uncomfortable.
They boy's dressing style could be described as comfortable. He likes to look put together but doesn't make so much of an effort to dress like everyone else or whatever is popular that year. Most often he can be seen wearing a comfortable t-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes, of course apart from his uniform. Alden actually enjoys his uniform, while it does make him look like everyone else which is something less to be desired, he is proud of the fact he is a Ravenclaw and loves showing his house pride whenever he can.
Alden carries himself with a sense of entitlement. He feels like he deserves whatever he can get his hands on and doesn't try to hide that fact. He is a confident boy, and will speak up if need be. He can be seen as quiet but that is because he only speaks up if it is necessary. Not one to like to waste his breath on worthless things, he only opens up if he deems it necessary. He is also very bright and will show off in whatever area he can. Most people think he is cocky, egotistic, and full of himself....which he is.
Personality: Alden can be described as a very old soul. Part to blame are his two older parents, the two people he loves the most and who have had the biggest impact on his life. He never connected much with people his age, partly because his classmates labeled him as odd and strange but also because intellectually, they've always been on different levels. He is still a child in many regards but handles himself like an adult in a good deal of situations. He would much rather converse with his professors or even the older students, vs the students his age and it gets even worse the younger they get. How quickly he has forgotten that he was once a first or second year student but truthfully they drive him mad!
Alden is also very much a loner. He quickly learned that he can get by just fine by himself and doesn't need anyone. No one has either cared to break the walls he has built nor has he ever found the need to seek anyone out. As a young boy he would get lonely from time to time but now he has learned to push those feelings way down and it doesn't bother him at all anymore. Alden would choose to be by himself any day at Hogwarts and hates when he has to be surrounded by people. They are just loud, rude and annoying. He loves to take his owl Bullet out and just go explore the outdoors in his free time, along with a book of course.
A bookworm would be another word to describe the boy. He doesn't have any friends to take up his time so he spends his time learning. He writes very lavish notes from his studies and corresponds back and fourth with his father constantly. It could be said he gained his sense of reading from his mother and his writing skills from his father. He loves having characteristics of them both and uses them as frequently as he can.
Family:
Father: Heathcliff Rooke
Mother: Eveyln Rooke
History: Alden Rooke is the first and only child born to Heathcliff and Eveyln Rooke. They struggled with fertility issues early on and had given up on having children. Everyone in the Rooke family was pleasantly surprised when Alden finally came along. Mr. and Mrs. Rooke were older than your average parents when Alden was born, but that didn't change the love they have for their son. He quickly became their entire world and they poured everything they had into him.
The Rooke family lives out in the country in a modest home. They aren't rich by any means but also aren't poor, just your average income family. Mr. Rooke works as an author, writing all different types of books for the magical world and Mrs. Rooke is a librarian at the local library. The couple actually met at the library! It took a while before Heath told Eveyln that he was a wizard and that sure was a surprise. However, she loved him and soon learned to love the world that he grew up in. The couple bonded over their similarities and differences, especially being from two completely different worlds.
Alden's childhood was as great as a childhood could be, well his home life at least. With two loving parents to devote all of their attention on him, there wasn't really anything he missed out on. It was interesting growing up with one parent being magical and the other not but that was what he was used to so that was life. Things got interesting once he started school and Alden found out that he was one of his own. No one else in his small muggle school grew up knowing what he knew. His parents also had to teach him that he couldn't tell anyone about his dad being magical either so that set him apart. This rapidly caused the boy to become a loner and was oftentimes teased by his "weird" behavior and attitude. Alden hated being made fun of and began to hate his classmates greatly. He turned to his studies and found he belonged there. It helped that his dad was constantly researching new things and ideas and Alden loved to help his father on whatever he was working on.
Being the special miracle child that he was caused him to be extremely overprotected by his parents, especially his mother. As soon as the teasing got bad at school, Alden's mother couldn't bear to have her son treated that way. She desperately wanted to pull him from school and have him homeschooled. Heath just couldn't do it though and claimed that Alden needed to face his classmates and become more social. Alden struggled constantly while at his muggle school but then low and behold he got his Hogwarts letter and things changed drastically for the boy.
Once at Hogwarts he finally felt like he belonged. He saw people from all different sorts of backgrounds, many like his in fact. Alden quickly made himself at home and began proving himself to be the incredible wizard that he saw himself as. He excelled in his classes and loved discussing new ideas and subjects with his professors and some of his classmates. He finds himself gravitating towards the older students but just because they know more and he is able to learn. He doesn't feel threatened by anyone and loves a good challenge.
