Nathalie could hardly wait! Her mom had promised to take her to Diagon Alley for a surprise and the excitable girl just could not sit still. She had been to Diagon Alley a few times before, although they mostly shopped at Wand Mart. This made her extra curious to see why her mom would take her to Diagon for this special surprise! She had basically been bouncing off the walls the moment she opened her eyes that day which probably caused her mother to rethink telling her about the surprise early. It was already out though and Nathalie was raring to go now that the day had arrived.
Once they got to Diagon, Nathalie could not keep her mouth shut. She was holding her mother’s hand and with each shop they passed, she’d look up expectantly and ask ‘Is it this one? Is this the store yet?’ So far, each time her mother would just shake her head and continue walking them forward. After what seemed like an eternity, they stopped in front of the Magical Menagerie. Her mother knelt down to Nathalie’s height and told her in a calm tone that she was able to pick out a pet of her very own to take with her to Hogwarts. At the revelation of the surprise, Nathalie let out a small squeal and jumped up and down with joy. Her mother did her best to keep her calm, but Nathalie was about through the roof with excitement.
She walked into the store, eyes sparkling and began to look around at all the beautiful creatures. Nathalie adored magical creatures mostly due to the fact that her parents were dragon researchers. On countless occasions she got to go to the sanctuary that her parents had worked at and gotten to experience dragons in real life. From day one, Nathalie was mesmerized by their beauty and really showed an interest in them. Unfortunately she couldn’t have a pet dragon at Hogwarts (she had had a few conversations with her parents over the topic already) but her mother DID say she could take either an owl, rat, or frog. Nathalie headed over to the owls first as she thought those were the closest to dragons and started to take a look around.
She became transfixed by a large eagle owl who started bobbing up and down at her. In true Nathalie fashion, she went over to the owl and returned it’s bobbing dance right back to it. She probably looked very silly doing that but the blonde girl didn’t care at all. She laughed and started making little hooting noises right to the large owl.
