Whats there to do? -Morgan-

[Ashley Lovegood]

'I'll be nice and not punish you... too much that is." With a smile she leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "See, not too bad." That had to be the best kind of punishment she had ever given someone. She cheeks were pink as she gave him another smile.

The awkward silence was pressing all around them and Ashley was wracking her brain for something to say. Her brain cells had apparently frozen due to the temperature of the water because she could not think of a single word to utter. She was grateful when Morgan broke the silence.

"Fancy that hot chocolate?"

"Y...Yes..." she stammered, her teeth making it difficult to talk. Hot chocolate was sounding like the best idea she had had all day... maybe even all week. Either that or spending more time with Morgan.

Considering how much fun it looked like she had had with the mud earlier on, he was surprised that Ashley had chosen to kiss him instead... even if it was just on the cheek. The red was quickly spreading. Without thinking, he wrapped his arms around her a little more, his body taking over without warning.

There was no denying Ashley was pretty. More than pretty. But somehow, Morgan had never even considered the possibility of Ashley becoming something more than she already was to him. They hadn't even known each other that long really, but there was something now that was different.
Hm, maybe the lake knocked some sense into me.
Then his mind came into play. It gave him a sentence he ran over mentally a couple of times, before he plucked up the courage to say it.

"Well, I would get out of the river, but that would mean I'd have to let the beautiful girl I'm holding right now go, and after that kiss, I'm not really sure I want to," he said calmly and genuinely, surprised at how relaxed he was all of a sudden, when he knew he shouldn't be. A minute ago, he was having trouble with the word 'sorry'!

Ash felt his arms tighten around her, which suited her just fine. They felt safe and comforting... even if they were surrounded by cold water.When ever she was around Morgan she felt similar to this. She felt like she was home in a place to keep her safe from harm. Since she had never had one of these, this was about the closest she had ever come to that feeling.

When was the last time she had blushed so much? Well, her cheeks were red once again at his words. She could not deny that she did not want to let go of him either. "Good, maybe I was no planning on letting you go," She retorted in the same measured voice. Her brain was telling her it was far too cold to stay in any longer, but another half of her did not ever want to move from where she was now. As the wind gushed by them, she clung tighter to Morgan. They were both soaked and it probably would do nothing but still... She felt happier to do so.

An incredible warmth passed over him, which was surprising given the fact that they were both treading water in a lake of ice. Morgan had come to felt that a lot lately when he was with her... deep down there had been a warmth that he couldn't describe or explain. But that definitely wasn't a problem.

The silence that passed between them this time was even longer than last time, but to Morgan, it was no longer awkward. It was nice... and for a moment, he forgot the howling rain and the wind, it was just him and Ashley standing there (or floating there).
"Ever since I met you in the Tower, I thought you were pretty complicated... more than meets the eye kinda thing," he said, again, calmly. His eyes were set on her own. "And then I see you here out in the rain and you're a different person. That's what I like about you. You're different" he continued, smiling at her.

Hugging would have probably been a bit too much, but its exactly what he wanted to do. He was so happy to have made a friend out of her in so little time, and that, to him, meant something. And without thinking again, his body had moved closer to her own, his eyes close to hers, his arms wrapped around her even more. Nerves were no longer an issue.

The silence was back, but it was somehow different than the last time. the awkwardness had vanished and had been replaced by something else... something much warmer. Her eyes met his as he began to speak once again. Her eyes did not waver as he went on, transfixed by his words.

"Different in a good or bad way?" She joked with a small smile. Her smile widened as he drew closer. All thoughts about the cold and even hot chocolate vanished as he did so. Her arms tightened around him in response and her smile became warm. A flash of lightning caused her to break eye contact as she looked up at the dark clouds. Could this weather get any worse?

She lowered her gaze to his own once again. "S... so...." She said through her chattering teeth. 'What should I say?!?' She thought to herself, glancing out around the lake. The rain was still pounding on the waters surface as hard as ever. She sighed as her bangs fell into her eyes again. "I need a hair cut..." She muttered, looking back at Morgan with a smile.

"Oh bad way, without a doubt," he said smiling and nodding sarcastically. Ashley's grip around him tightened comfortably as he brought her closer to him. Every thought on what to do next made him blush, and every possible action he could take now, would make him blush. It was a no win situation.

The lightning made him jump in the water and even though it was only for an instant, he felt a rush of cold sweep over him as Ashleys' eyes lost focus on his own. Her eyes fell back onto his, and the warmth continued on, filling him with a sort of confidence and calm that Morgan never knew he had inside him. Instinctively igorning her awkward conversation turner, his gaze fell to her lips and up to her eyes again, as he leaned his head forward to her own, leaving his lips an inch away from her own waiting for her own decision. Not a storm in the world could have ruined that moment and the feeling that was pulsing through his body.

Ashley grinned back with a brief laugh. "Hm, well I might have to change that..." She said with a sarcastic air.

She felt him jump at the sound of the abrupt thunder. Him jumping caused her arms to contract around without her realizing it. When she noticed this, she loosed her grip slightly with a apologetic smile. "Sorry," She apologized, her cheeks were flushed with a new coat of pink. That color was nothing to the red that suddenly appeared on her face.

As he leaned in closer her heart started beating wildly in her chest. It was pumping loudly in her ears, so loud she was sure he could have heard it. He was a mere inch away, one simple inch. She was more than willing to close the small gap between them but a small nagging voice made her pause. There was someone else that made her heart beat uncontrollably, someone else who also understood her.

He was not the one. Morgan was. He was the guy that understood her who had comforted her when she had needed him. Morgan was the person that Ashley loved. She leaned in the rest of the way and let there lips touch.

The hesitation nearly gave him a heart attack, and for a moment, he thought he was going to be rejected. His eyes had been open and focused on Ashley's. Normally, he was quite good at 'reading' people, but the look Ashley had given him was completely beyond him. What had caused the hesitation?

And then she leaned forwards. Oh... my... god.... Morgan quickly put the previous thought to the back of his mind, as another thought had quickly overpowered it... he was kissing Ashley Lovegood. Pulling her ever closer to him in fear of someone else snatching her away from him all of a sudden in such a perfect moment, he began the kiss on her perfect lips.

Morgan felt something he hadn't felt before... definitely nothing anywhere near this strong at least. And though it wasn't love, it was potential, and he felt that, given a bit more time, he could see himself easily falling for this girl.

He parted his lips slightly, making the kiss more intense. The rain was making things slightly more difficult, but at the same time, it made things even more romantic. He held her to stop her from sinking with one arm while bringing the other to her face, holding the side of her cheek gently as he circled his lips around her own.

Ashley could see the moment of panic in his eyes as she paused. A faint smile played across her lips before vanishing. Her intentions had not been to cause alarm and she certainly did not want to give him a heart attack. That would be very bad. Very bad indeed.

All other thoughts were whisked away as her lips made contact with his own. All she could think about was that she was here, in Morgan's arms. Even all the coldness vanished from her veins as warm blood coursed through her body, warming her up instantly.

She had made the right decision. She was just smart like that. =] She pressed her body closer to his, hoping that he would not mind. She felt his warm lips part against her and she mirrored the action. A moment later one of his hands released her and settled against her cheek. She shuddered slightly at his chilly touch against her heated cheeks.

This was the kind of thing that happened in movies. Two people kissing in the rain. Ashley never thought that one of these romantic moments could actually happen in real life, not to mention to her. But apparently those special moments did occur. Except they probably didn't take place while they were being splashed by icy waters. Oh well, this version was far better than the movies anyway.

Morgan felt her body move closer to his own, and not even the icy lake could melt the warming feeling that surged through him as she did so.

From start to finish, it was heaven, but all things have an ending. He broke away partially from the lock they had on each other and gave her a couple of quick kisses on the lips before releasing her, bringing his head slightly back, so that their noses were almost touching. A couple of seconds silence with his eyes closed finished the moment.

"You realise that if you say no to my next question, you'll be even more of a tease than I thought you were," he said with a smile that had the energy of a volcano behind it. "Will you be my girlfriend, Ashley Lovegood?"

It was one thing to kiss someone. It was another thing to have a relationship with them. And that's exactly what Morgan wanted. Though his time at Hogwarts so far had been unbelievable, there had always been a feeling deep down inside... a feeling of loneliness, that at times, got the better of him. Now he had met Ashley, he felt he could fully enjoy his time there.

The fifth years breathing was slightly uneven as they broke apart. After a moment of sitting in silence she reopened her eyes to see Morgan doing the same. She gave him a warm smile before it vanished to be replaced by a look of confusion.

"You realize that if you say no to my next question, you'll be even more of a tease than I thought you were,"

Excitement was almost literally rolling off of him, she could feel it in the air as he smiled at her. She held her breath, almost knowing what might come next.

"Will you be my girlfriend, Ashley Lovegood?"

The energy that was being emitted from him seemed to have rubbed off on her. Her blue eyes widened for the briefest of moments before a bright smile appear across her lips. "Yes..." There were a thousand different ways she could have answered his question, but she chose the simplest of them all.

A dozen of emotions shot through her. She identified some of them, such as belonging. Butterflies were floating around in her stomach as she stared into his eyes, her own were sparkling with happiness.

Probably the warmest smile he'd given her all day bursted across his face as he threw his arms around her and hugged her, lifting her up. "Ha! Taking a random walk in the rain was the best thing I've ever done!" He said, beaming at her and bringing her back down.

Morgan was over the moon. Freezing still... but the happiest he'd been in a long, long time. He could see in her eyes that she was just as happy as he was, which made him feel even better. She somehow seemed even more beautiful than she had before she'd given her answer.

Unfortunately, the freezing feeling wasn't going to go away anytime soon. He was losing the feeling in his fingers.

"I hate to break the moment Ash, but... can we please get out of this water before I freeze to death," he said, shaking from head to toe. Partly due to the cold, partly due to Ashley.

How he had enough energy to pick her up she had no clue. She could not even feel her arms, which were still around him, any more. She gasped slightly as he hugged her but her surprise faded away as quickly as it had appeared. She smiled a bright smile as he put her back down. "Glad to hear it."

She laughed at his remark. It was true however, they probably would freeze to death if they stayed in the icy waters any longer. "Y...Yeah.... W...w...we pro....bably... should." She stuttered. She let go of him and crossed her arms over her chest, and rubbed her arms. She could not remember the last time she had been so cold. "You should probably let me go then so we can get some yummy hot chocolate... and the hottest shower I have ever taken." She added, laughing at this after thought.

Come to think of it, they'd been in the water for a good five/ten minutes now... no wonder they were cold! And the cold seemed even more intense and real as Ashley left him.

A playful smile rose on his face when he heard the word 'we' escape her lips. "Ah, well Ashley, I don't know, I think a shower together might be a little bit too forward for me," he said smirking.

Treading his way along the lake base to the bank was easier said than done. His jeans were ten times as heavy with all the water now, as Morgan trudged through mud and god-knows-what. He gave Ashley a little push, along with a grin.

Ashley rolled her eyes and pushed him slightly. She was too cold to retort to his remark. As they made there way back to the bank of the lake she felt Morgan push her and she turned to stuck her tongue out at him just because she was cool like that.

Even as she got out of the water, the wind was worse. The howling wind made the soaking clothes on her twice as cold as they had been moments previous. She shook violently. She had the brilliant idea of racing him to the castle, but then again she was too numb to run and it would only make the two of them even colder.

... because she was just immature like that. He grinned back at her, every time that tongue popped out he just wanted to kiss her all over again. Staring her, he suddenly slipped over on some uneven bit of ground, almost landing face first in the water, spalshing around trying to stay upright. His cheeks glowed once again.

Shivering himself, he noticed Ashley was shaking uncontrollably. Though he wasn't feeling that warm, he moved close to her side and put his arm around her as they walked... hoping that somehow he could make her a little warmer. The warm, fuzzy feeling inside of him was still there and still burning strongly, so maybe a bit of that would rub off onto her.

It wasn't far to the castle, but his icy body felt it was miles. "We seriously need to learn to apparate," he said looking at her.

She took her eyes off of him for just the briefest moment and what happened? She missed seeing him do a face plant into the icy lake. Her eyes flew back to where he had been only moments ago. Her blue eyes widened as he began to splash around. "You ok?" She asked, a bit startled. She wadded back over to him and held out her hand with a smile, attempting not to laugh now that she knew he was not really drowning or anything. "Come on Mr.talented."

She was grateful as Morgan placed his arm around her in an attempt to warm her up. Even if they were both freezing she felt a bit warmer, just because he had moved closer to her once more. She smiled up at him, not speaking for in fear of bitting her tongue by accident. The glow of fire that had lighted inside of her still burned ever so but it was still not enough to stop the constant shivering.

She laughed at his comment. "Yeah, that would help out a lot," She agreed, grinning up at him in return. Apperating to the castle would save them time and the pain of having to walk all the way to the castle in the blistering wind.
