Jumps round every corner (Vampire Ashy)

The grip on his wand was tight and steady. And, although his heart was pounding, Morgan's mind and instincts were focused and determined.

Morgan broke his stillness and advanced into the maze, a gust of winding throwing back his hair slightly as he did so. The maze was dark and had a sense of fear in the air which shook him a little.

Challenges. Challenges? He'd heard about the maze from his friends, but they'd been pretty vague. What could the challenges be? he asked himself. Could they be creatures... or something even worse? Red sparks flashed up in his mind over and over as he continued through the maze. A left. A left. A right. Another left. Dead end. Back. Left. Right. Right. Forward. Left.

And then he froze, suddenly realising he had no idea whatsoever which way was back and which way was forward. Which way would lead him into trouble, which way would lead him to safety... if there was any to be had.

A noise from behind...

Ashleigh had wandered in here as usual. She knew every turn despite only being at Trio's only a few days. She walked to the end of the path and found a dead end. placing her right hand on the wall she turned and carried on. She caught a glimpse of a boy wandering around. She frowned when she saw his tight grip on his wand. There's nothing to be afraid of. You just have to know how to handle the things in there. She followed him until she tripped over a tree root. He turned. She stood and brushed herself down, swearing at the root under her breath. She turned to the boy.

"Hi I'm Ashleigh. Or Frankie. Whichever you prefer. Are you okay? You look nervous."

At first, his mind - only for a second - suddenly clasped onto the fact that this girl stood before him was a vampire, and his body gave a nervous jolt as - for a second - he thought she may well be one of the challenges the others had talked about. Quickly seeing that she was a student, and that most 'challenges' would probably not walk up to him and say hello, he brushed a strand of hair out of his face and replied.

"No, no," he said, in an awkwardly high-pitched tone, sounding far more afraid than his answer suggested. "I'm not nervous," he continuing, advancing towards her before almost falling over a cluster of hedge debris.

The fear in him let go, and he was able to talk normally. About time.
"And I prefer Ashleigh," he said with a smile. "That's two Ashleighs I know now."

Ashleigh giggled as the boy spoke in a high voice. It went lower as he got used to her.

"Yes you are nervous. No boy on earth talks like that unless he's nervous, scared or a soprano singer. And I don't think you're the last one."

She studied the boy. Well of course he was nervous. Everyone who came into this place was. Shrugging off the thought she cocked her head to oneside.

"Speaking of who and what people are, who are you?"

She pulled an apple out of her almost empty bag.

"Want one?" she said, bitinginto her own.
