Mihael Quidditch Team Try-Outs

Avery was calling a Quidditch Team try-out. Why? Well, last term they'd gotten a basic idea of who the team consisted of, but she had some doubts. Some of the team members weren't as active as the others. She worried they may disappear for long periods of time and let the team down. That's why she wanted to get some substitutes for the team as well as make sure everyone on it at the moment was very dedicated.

Walking down to the Pitch wearing a pair of army patterned shorts with suspenders and a yellow t-shirt with a sun ray pattern on it, she laced up her yellow and white converse tightly and sat in the grass. On the ground beside her was her broom, as well as a piece of paper declaring who the team members were. She didn't have a perfect memory, so she'd need it.

Hopefully some people would arrive soon. She wanted to see the team members here as well as some new people that might want to try-out. After all, if some team members became inactive, she'd replace them. Smiling to herself, she began doodling on the paper and waited.

Kaelyn skipped down to the Quidditch Pitch despite the fact she hadn't slept a wink the night before. It probably just made her even more hyper, her lack of sleep. She was delirious. She'd hardly even remembered to bring her broomstick with her.

She was wearing a pair of banana yellow shorts with pink tights. She wore her her orange tank top to match her orange ballet flats. Her hair was back in a high ponytail so it wouldn't bother her to much during tryouts. She believed she was pretty much guaranteed a spot on the team, but they'd probably do some warming up and stuff.

When she got to the Quidditch Pitch she wasn't much surprised to see she was the second one there, after Avery. She'd set off a bit early for lack of anything else to do. Upon arrival she flashed Avery a big smile and a "How are you on this fine day, miss?" with a bow.

Taking a seat on the ground - she wondered who kept the grass on the field so soft - she asked Avery, "So what are we doing today? Do we need to replace anyone?" She stretched her legs out in front of her. She stared at her pink legs, wondering what on earth made her decide to wear tights with shorts.

Whatever. She'd start a new trend. Or restart an old one.

Right away, Avery saw someone coming down to the pitch. It was good to know that people were still alive. Smiling, she watched Kaelyn skip on over with a big smile and very bright clothing. Chuckling a little as Kaelyn bowed, she looked up at her and said, "I'm doing good, how about yourself, Missus Kaelyn?"

Once Kaelyn sat down in the grass by her, she folded her left leg up and crossed it over her outstretched right leg. Twisting her upper body to the left, she crossed her right arm and pushed it against her upright left leg. She was beginning to stretch along with Kaelyn. It was very important to have all your muscles nice and ready for practice. "Today might be a bit scrambled. See, the team had basically been figured out last term... But, Max, the seeker, seems to have left the school. So we have to replace him. Also, I have to make sure all the people on the team are actually still around. It's hard to tell. So if they show up, good. Basically, we're gonna get some substitutes and stuff today and confirm the team and get a new Seeker."

Nodding her head, she wondered if all of that made sense. Switching which side of her body she was stretching, she asked, "Do you think we should do any trust games like Harmony did? It might benefit the team. We should probably all get to know each other. I know a lot of the other teams are kind of like a family."

Spreading her legs as far apart as she could while sitting on the grass, the girl leaned forward and reached her arms as far as they could go in front of her. Avery's forehead brushed against the grass. She was quite flexible. Yoga helped with that. ;] Still speaking to Kaelyn, she added, "Oh, and I love your outfit.

Aly put on a pair of black shorts and a pink shirt to match her pink tennis shoes. She was going to try out for the position of the Mihael Seeker. Even though she was only a first year she knew that it was possible.


>>Fast Forward Until Down On The Quidditch Pitch<<

Aly walked slowly onto the Quidditch Pitch and began over towards two other girls who Aly took were the captain and a beater because she had a beater's bat with her. The two girls must have seen Aly and started conversing about her because they were watching her until Aly was right infront of them.

"Hi, I'm Aly Linkin. I'm here to Tryout for the position of the Mihael Seeker. Do you want me to wait for the rest of the team to come? Or should I tryout now?" Aly asked excitedly.

Before Kaelyn had time to answer her, a voice sounded beside her and Avery turned to see a girl standing before them. She looked pretty new, since she'd never seen her around before and she hadn't tried out last term. Giving her a big smile, she said, "Nice to meet you, Aly. I'm Avery, the Captain and Chaser. And this is Kaelyn, one of our Beaters."

She paused for a moment, scribbling the girl's name down on her paper for try-outs and the position she was trying out for. Standing up, she walked over to a rectangular box and knelt beside it. Looking at the girl, she nodded her head to a line of school brooms on the grass. "You can either use a school broom or one of your own to try-out. And you can go ahead now. I'll just judge you based on how anyone else does later. So, when you're ready, I'll release the snitch, okay?"

Once Aly was ready and said she was, Avery opened the box and flipped open the cover where the snitch was. It immediately zipped out of the box and began flying around. Avery had lost where it went and didn't bother trying to find it, instead focusing on clicking a timer in her hand. Aly would be timed on how fast she found it. The lesser the amount of time, the better chance she had of being seeker. =]

ooc; Okay, Ally. I'll be asking you three Harry Potter related questions. If you get one right, you've been searching for the snitch for five minutes. If you get one wrong, you've been searching for ten minutes. I'll ask all three questions now, since you don't need me any more while you search. Good luck! =]

Adrian cruises on down to the pitch from the castle. Having been on the quidditch team for the last ten terms straight, he's completely confident that he'll have no competition for his long held spot. At this point, quidditch was about the only fun part of being stuck at Hogwarts.

Arriving on the pitch, Adrian starts floating around on his broom, surveying the practice so far. From the look of it, practice had actually started. Mihael quidditch practices have always been notorious for being very, very behind schedule. Being used to this routine, Adrian is rather surprised by the fact that practice is actually underway.

Unless the captain addresses him specifically to do so, Adrian doesn't plan on participating in any of the silly little tryout drills. Unless there's a scrimmage later on, there's not really any reason for participating in the drills. He's more than competent and has proven himself on more than one occasion.

"I'll just use one of the school's brooms for now. My mom said she'll buy me one if I make the team." Aly said. She picked up a broom and began to float up into the air as she thought about the answers to the questions.

"Umm.. the first answer is Firenze, Bane and Magorian." Aly stated in a guessing mannor. Aly thought that she was right. But, wasn't 100% positive.


"The second answer is true!" Aly exclaimed.

"The third answer is that Malfoy would be as sick as a pig." Aly answered hopefully.

"Anything else you need from me Avery?" Aly asked.

While Avery was thinking about what Aly was to do next she was flying around in very small circles only about 3 feet off the ground and secretly hoping that the snitch would be an easy find like it usually was for her.

[adrian]

OOC: In the future, don't double post. Ever. That will get you in serious trouble with people that have more authority than myself.

IC:

Adrian flies around the pitch, surveying the fresh meat. Only three people have shown up, other than himself. Two of them, Avery and Kaelyn, he had met before. The other one, however, looked like she barely knew how to fly. [/i]"Looks like she's trying out for seeker. At least she's small and light. That'll help her out significantly, even if she is inexperienced."

Aly looked up and saw another Mihael Quidditch Player taking a lap or two around the Pitch warming up for tryouts.

'He looks really good, I wonder what position he plays?' Aly thought to herself.

Kaelyn watched Aly fly around a bit, still sitting on the ground. The appearance of the others had made her forget all about Avery's questions. Recalling them, she snapped her head back up to Avery, and thought about her answer.

"Substitutes? That sounds like a great idea, actually. I have a feeling a lot of our team is going to find themselves more and more busy, especially as the team is getting older. A lot of us are going to be busy with classes, I'm sure.

Thinking back to her own classes, she remembered she still had some Charms homework to do. When would she ever find the time to do it? The Professors were so much stricter about that kind of thing than the TA's were.

"And trust games sound like an excellent idea. Do you have any particular ones in mind? Because is does seem like some of the other teams are a bit closer than ours. Perhaps we should have a few team get-togethers as well."

She stood up, now, grabbing hold of her broom. Aly still wasn't done trying out, but she wanted to feel the wind on her face. Putting one leg over her broom, she hovered a few feet above the ground. Just whipping from one end of the field to the other, she returned in no time, and stepped back onto solid ground. She hadn't flown in a while and her flight had felt kind of awkward. She would need to practice.

for a total of 15 minutes looking for the Snitch!

Avery smiled at Adrian as he came on the Pitch, then directed her attention back to Aly. She'd caught the snitch in fifteen minutes. That wasn't too bad. It was actually pretty good. But she needed a bit more practice flying, she seemed a tad bit rocky. Oh well, she could get better with a bit of time. Indicating for Aly to land, she said, "Well, since no one else has showed up to try out for the Seeker position, it's yours. For now. If someone else does come and they can get the Snitch faster than you, you might get bumped down to a Substitute. Don't worry, though. You just need practice flying so that it's as easy as walking."

Looking over at Kaelyn, she nodded her head a bit. Blue eyes glanced around the pitch and she frowned. Hardly and Mihaels even tried out for the try-outs. They wanted substitutes, and she hoped that the other team members might actually show up. Avery was specifically worried about Edwin and Delia. She hardly ever saw them around. Levi on the other hand was seen in her classes, so at least she knew he might just be busy today. Still, it disappointed her that they hadn't showed up or even sent her an owl saying they wouldn't be able to make it. She didn't want to have to kick them off the team and find replacements. They couldn't play the sport though with two chasers, one beater, and a seeker. They needed the whole team to be committed.

Sighing a bit, she looked at the three of them with a teeny smile. "Well, I'd like to get substitutes, but there doesn't seem to be many people here trying out. And yeah, I have some trust games thought of. The only thing is, we can't exactly do them when there's only the four of us. I wonder where the rest of the team is..." She frowned a bit, looking at Kaelyn, Adrian and Aly.

"There's not much for us to do today. We could try to do a bit of scrimmaging with two people per team if you'd like. Or we could try tiny little trust games. What would you guys prefer?"

Kaelyn nodded as Avery spoke, glancing at the girl Avery introduced as their new seeker. She turned to face her with a, "Hello, my name's Kaelyn Thompson." After a pause she added, "Beater." as it seemed to fit.

Now swiveling on her heel to face Avery once more she bit her lip in thought. She still hoped others would show. She liked the kids on the team last term. "I think," Kaelyn started, "We should do a scrimmage for a while. I need to get the hang of my broom. I haven't flown in a while."

ooc: Sorry so short. I haven't been feeling like writing much recently. :/

Aly's heart was beating so fast when Avery had said that the Seeker's spot was her's for now at least. 'Maybe no one else will come around for the position.' Aly thought.

"Hi Kaelyn, I'm Aly." Aly introduced to her new teammate.

"We should probably scrimmage, I need to get alot of practice if I'm going to be able to fly as easy as I can walk." Aly suggested.

Avery looked at Kaelyn and Aly as they both suggested doing a scrimmage. She smiled and nodded her head. A scrimmage would be good, especially since they were all probably a bit rusty on their brooms from not having practiced since last term. Yet, Adrian and Avery were the only chasers here. Kaelyn was a beater and Aly was a seeker. They could play with one team having a chaser and beater and one with a chaser and seeker. Well, Kaelyn and Aly would just have to be something else.

Avery made a face for a second, pulling her mouth to the side of her face, pondering how they'd do this. Since they wanted to practice flying basically, she decided what to do and grinned up at them. "Alright, so we're gonna do a kind of relay, I guess. Kaelyn and I will be on a team and Aly and Adrian will be on a team. We're all going to play as chasers so we can practice flying. One person from each team is going to be on opposite ends of the field. I guess I'll start with the quaffle. I'll be trying to fly to the end of the pitch to pass the quaffle to Kaelyn, who will have to try and bring it back to the other side of the pitch. Adrian has to try and intercept me and get the quaffle to bring it back to Aly who would have to fly down the pitch. Whichever team scores first wins. Any questions?"

The Mihael looked around at them, hoping they understood.

ooc; Okay, so me and Adrian will be trying to intercept from one another.
Kaelyn and Aly will have to try and intercept each other.

I'll ask questions for each time someone tries to pass / take the quaffle.
For instance, if I try to pass but Adrian is trying to block me, I'd ask a question to Adrian and a question to myself [don't worry, I won't cheat D:]. If I get it right and he gets it right, nothing happens. If he gets it right and I get it wrong, he takes the quaffle. If I get it right and he gets it wrong, I throw the quaffle to Kaelyn.

So, since I start with the quaffle, here are the questions for Adrian and me:
Avery: What time did Harry have to meet Oliver Wood for his first Quidditch practice? 7:00 pm, 6:30 pm, 7:30 pm or 8:00 pm?
My Answer: 6:30pm. Incorrect.
Adrian: When did Dumbledore defeat the dark Wizard Grindelward? 2000, 1772, 1945 or 1875?

OOC: The correct answer is 1945. Am I supposed to concoct my own question to see if you get the quaffle back or what?

IC:

Hopping into action straightaway, Adrian veritably pounces on Avery. Barrel rolling, he blasts by while still on his side and snatches the quaffle straight out of her arms. Using the momentum from his roll, he swings up and starts gaining altitude, checking over his shoulder to see if he's being pursued.

In this particular situation, Adrian knows his bulk and weight are a disadvantage, as Avery's smaller size allows her to climb much faster and farther before stalling. Checking over his shoulder again, Adrian waits for Avery to come up on him, so that he can turn around the advantage.

Vivian made her way out to the Quidditch Pitch. She was planning on trying out to be the Mihael Seeker, because she had heard that the position was open. Vivian wasn't the best at Quidditch, but she was still pretty talented. She had been playing Quidditch with her father for the past ten years. However, when she would play with her father, she would either be a Beater or a Chaser. But, she had incredibly good eyesight and hearing, so she assumed that she would at least be a decent Seeker. She was wearing a pair of black shorts with accentuating off-white pinstripes, a bright yellow t-shirt adorned with a hot pink unicorn, and a pair of green and orange converse. She sees that everyone is already practicing, so she just takes a seat on the grass out of harm's way.

Sitting up with beads of sweat on his forehead he jumped a little at the sight of the bird sitting before him. Only this one wasn't a crow, it was an owl, but it was pecking him, only softer. A relieved smile trembled at his lips and he patted the owls head. He noticed a white slip of paper in it's beak and took it out to read. A Quidditch meeting today. Sounded like fun. Edwin absent minded looked to the clock and noticed it was already mid-day. The owl must have been pecking him for ages. He surely was going to be late.

Stumbling out of bed his legs were still a little shaky from his nightmare he hurried to get dressed. He pulled on a bright green t-shirt tight gray jeans and in his hurry odd vans, although he didn't notice this. He grabbed his broom and headed out for the Quidditch pitch.

He made his way out into the grounds and as he ran along he noticed his odd vans, on his left foot black ones with pink frogs, and on the right green and white checkers. He raised his eyebrows while slightly cursing to his feet. It was too late to go back and change them, he'd just have to put up with it.

He soon made it to the Quidditch pitch and saw a few gathered around. He ran up to them quite out of breath and between gasps of air he managed, 'Sorry... I'm... l-late' He then looked down at his feet with a frown and ruffled his already messy hair. [/font][/size][/ul]

Aly saw a person that she didn't recognize before come strolling up to the rest of the group which were above him hovering in the air.

'He's kinda tall looking so he's probably a few years older. I wonder if he's been on the team before?'

Aly drifted down a little bit towards the new person and said, "Hello. I'm Aly Linkin. I've just joined the team as the seeker. Do you play?"

ooc; actually, Adrian, you weren't supposed to take the quaffle from me right away. You were only supposed to take it if I got it wrong and you got it right. Which did end up happening. Anyways, you now have to go try and get past Kaelyn to pass it to Aly.

It wasn't long before the game had begun that she'd spotted two figures down below. The team seemed very disorganized, that was for sure; the poor little fifteen year old was getting a tad bit frustrated. Adrian didn't seem to have understood her instructions on how to play the little scrimmage. Then, when she looked down to see a new person arrive, she had to stop the game. After all, they couldn't just leave the girl down there watching them play.

After telling the three in the sky [Adrian, Aly, & Kaelyn] to stop and come down, she flew down to the ground to smile at the new girl. She was probably here to try out. Directing her attention to the girl, she said, "Hello. Are you here to try-out for something? Unfortunately, all of the positions are filled right now. But you can be a Substitute for if someone is absent. Or if anyone gets kicked off the team, you'll be first to take their place." She nodded her head with a smile, then added in, "Oh, and I'm Avery, the Captain, by the way."

Then, a familiar figure ran down to the Pitch and a gigantic smile engulfed her face. "Edwin!" she exclaimed happily, immediately throwing her arms around the boy and hugging him tightly. He was one of her first friends here, kind of. Yet, she hadn't seen him very much lately. It was quite sad. Stepping back from the boy, she smiled, hands on hips. Now she was a bit more cheery. Almost the whole team was here, other than Levi and Delia.

Now that the scrimmage had been stopped and they had six people [including herself], she wondered if they'd still want to scrimmage or not. "So, I guess we'll continue with the scrimmage. Now, we'll have three per team. So, me, Kaelyn, and Aly against Adrian, Edwin and... erm, what's your name?" She asked, indicating the girl who'd come in and sat down but not said anything yet.
