6th and 7th years, Class Five.

Walking in to the class room, Carina dumped her bag on the floor. After going to her brother's flat and then making it back to Hogwarts safely last night, Carina was feeling much better. Add the sleeping potion before bed and she was almost able to forget everything that was going on in time for class. Wasting no time, Carina unlocked the cabinet in the back.

Walking around, Carina took a moment to look over the room and make sure everything was clean. Once back at her desk, Carina leaned over to dig around in her bag. Pulling a book from her bag, Carina opened it to the page she had marked. It was a very old potion, one no longer in use for the most part. But it seemed rather useful. And it would be good practice. Tapping her wand on the board, the name and the ingredients appeared.

three drops hippogriff blood

Jodi flung herself into the classroom and took the seat closet to the door. In and out, Jodi thought to herself for the second time that day. Her stomach was telling her to eat, her head was telling her to study and her heart was telling her to both eat and study. Soon, both would win. But for the moment, Jodi had to make a potion. Potion Smotion.

After copying down the ingredients with a scribble of her pen, Jodi left her desk to collect the things she needed. Having owl feathers in front of her reminded her she needed to send a letter home. Sooner rather than later. Jodi said with her bits and pieces at the ready, waiting for the instructions to her potion, so she could finish, and leave to the library.

Joe came in right behind Jodi when he enter the classroom. Potions. His third favoite class here. First was Care of Magical Creatures, then it was Defence Against the Dark Arts, then finally Potions. He looked at the board. Blackness in Shadows... still intesting... He thought. Soon will be the exam for this class. He sat down right next to Jodi and copy the notes down from the board. Jackson slipped into the classroom feeling very tired today. He hadn't been sleeping well, and having to wake up so early and spend the day going through lessons was less than thrilling. Brushing his hair from his eyes, he saw that two other students had already arrived, both seventh years. That was one of the few reason lessons sucked, there was normally only one or two sixth years. Bah.

Taking a seat, he copied down the potion off the board and waited for instructions.

Nya~nya.

So she was attempting to not be late to every class. Sincerely? That was failing. Horribly... Well, sort of anyhow. Some of the classes she managed to arrive early if not on time. However for others... well, let's just say she missed a couple of things said. It really was just too bad. She kicked at the air, momentarily pausing on her way to class. Bleh. Hopefully she wouldn't be late to this one. That'd be no fun. Maybe she'd get lucky and they wouldn't be having an exam in this one. Yet. She took a deep breath and sighed, continuing on.

It didn't take her long to get there and when she did, she did as she usually did and found a seat located in the back. Her eyes roamed over the other students already in the room. She only recognized one of them, by name anyhow; Jodi Peterson. And that was about as far as she got. She sighed and copied down what was on the board on to her parchment. Nnn, well wasn't this going to be a bucket o' fun.

Noting that the class was filling up, Carina smiled. While the turn out wasn't as good as with the younger years, it was still rather good. Which, of course, was wonderful news, especially since the potion they would be working on would not be found in any of their text books. A shame really, since this was a most useful potion.

Her watch chimed, indicating that it was time to begin. Standing from her chair, Carina cleared her throat. As a norm, Carina rarely lectured the class on a potion, feeling that for the most part, the textbooks were rather complete. This potion, however, was a rather old one and not one that is used everyday. Therefore, it failed to appear in school text. That, in its self, made it worthy of a lecture.

"Now, we might as well get started. Today's potion is Blackness as Shadows. This potion allows you to blend in with shadows. In other words, it makes you fuse into one's shadow. Often it's used for foolish pranks for wizarding children, but the potion was originally made for spying purposes by Aurors. This potion shouldn't be used lightly. It's effects can last up to five days, depending on how much of the potion you drink."

While that was the end of explanation about the potion, Carina had one more thing to add. "Now, while I know that you are all very responsible, I would like to remind you of something. Many of the ingredients for the potions I teach that aren't in the books are not bought by the school. Ingredients such as the ones we will be using today are bought with my own money. Today's ingredients are very expensive and very hard to obtain. So please be careful. Now, are there any questions about the potion?"

Slipping into class Jas took a seat among the others has the professor lecture on about the days lesson. Looking around she noticed that there wasn't many there, just the normal people that she saw but never really knew. Once she got her parchment and quill out she wrote down the notes on the potion and waited to move on with the lesson.

Carina waited a few moments an when no questions were forthcoming, she figured that everyone understood and they could move on. Tapping her wand against the board, the directions appeared as always. "Just remember, be extremely careful while making this potion. While normally I have worked with the potions we do in class, I haven't done so with this one. Follow the directions precisely, as I'm not sure what will happen if you don't. Other than that, you may begin."

Put the fire to 350 degrees,

Cut the phoenix feathers into fourths and put in cauldron.

A teaspoon of hippogriff blood.

Crush the owl claws and hippogriff claws in a separate bowls.

Pour the bowl's contents into the cauldron.

Stir clockwise 17 times.

Take the potion off the fire for 15 minutes.

Add three owl feathers and the phoenix claws at the same time.

Stir 5 times counter-clockwise.

Add 3 hippogriff feathers.

Put the cauldron back on fire, increase heat 515 degrees.

Add a singe phoenix tear.

Stir 32 times clockwise.

Allow to sit for one minute.

Bottle and bring to the front.

Joe looked at the instructions and saw the number 515. I thought that 350 degrees was a lot. He sighed. The boy put the fire on 350 degrees. Then he cut the pheonix feathor into fourths and put in the cauldren. He look at the hippogriff blood and grab a tea-spoon and put in the cauldren. There was hippogriff claws and an owl claws. He smashed the hippogriff claws first and put in a bowl, then he crushed the owl claws and put it in a different bowl and pour the stuff into the cauldren. Now Joe stired the spoon counter clock times seventeen times. The next thing that he had to take the cauldren off the fire and also he had to do was to wait for fifthteen mintues.

Fifthteen mintues later was time for the next instruction which was to add three owl feathors and the phoenix claw in the cauldren. After Joe did that he stir five more times counter clock wise. Then added three hippogriff featiors. It was now time to put the cauldren back on the fire and set it to 515 degrees. Once he did that he added the pheonix tear that was in a little bottle right next to him labled 'Pheonix tear'. Then stir thirty-two clockwise. Finally something different! Then finally to let it sit for a minute.

One minute later the potion was complete. He pored some of the potion into a bottle and closed the lid and walked down to the Professor and gave her the bottle that contained Blackness of Shadows. "Here you go Professor," Joe said and walked back to his seat and turned the fire off.

Landon was lare for class. He walked inside and took a seat near the middle of the calssroom. He looked at the board. they were making Blackness of Shadows. He scattered and went to gather his ingrediants. He sat back down and began to preheat the cauldron at 350 degrees. He moved on from step after step till it was finally done. He sat down for one minute while the potion cooled.

Jackson kept his head down as Carina spoke, smirking a little. He wondered what exactly would happen if he did this certain potion backwards... but he wasn't going to. At least not alone, he'd need Avery and Holden for that, though he really didn't want detention again. Ew. Spiders.

Looking back up at the board, he started on his potion, first getting the fire to 350 degrees and such. Following that, he attempted to cut the feather into equal fourths, but they sort of came out all different sized, he dropped them into the water. He then carefully measured out the Hippogriff blood and crushed the claws. Ew. Poor Hippogriffs.

After he dropped all the stuff in, he wrinkled his nose up. Now he had to wait for fifteen minutes. Leaning over in his seat, he began to doodle in the corner of the paper he'd written all the stuff on, checking the time every few minutes. He drew two stick figures, one taller than the other, with a tiny little apple between them. After fifteen minutes did all the rest of the stirring and adding things and such, then let it sit.

Bam. Bottling it, the sixth year brought it up to the front.
