4th years - Lesson 3 [Mimbulus Mimbletonia]

After freshening up with lunch and a quiet read in his office, Timothy returned to the Greenhouse before his next class would start, which would be at one o'clock pm. Afternoon was looking quite good for him since he was used to his fourth through seventh year students. He wrote on the board today's lesson, dusting his hands off, and then taking a seat behind his desk.

Today they would be learning about a simple plant, one that he actually has in his own office down the Head of House corridors. He smiled, sipping his glass of cold water, or what was left of it.

[Jade "Lizzy" Silvernacle]

Lunch, as usual, was delicious. Smiling to herself Lizzy walked down towards the greenhouses for Herbology. As she walked she hummed to herself a bit.

When she reached the greenhouse and entered she saw she was the first to arrive she smiled at Professor Linn, "Good afternoon." she said taking a seat in the middle back of the room. Pulling out parchment, ink, and quill she sat waiting for the class to start. She could hardly wait.[/size]

[Nyna Adustum]

Nyna made her way quickly to the Herbology greenhouses, cloak swishing gently against the ground. The Ravenclaw wasn't quite sure when this class started, but it was nearing 1:00. It would be just her luck if it started at, say 12:00.

Of course, this was Herbology she was going to, late wouldn't be her only problem. Unless she was happily mistaken, they had a new T. A. and she didn't seem too nice. Nyna cringed as she remembered she hadn't attended any of Ms. Kohn's classes.

Before she even opened the greenhouse door, she knew that it would be a good class. Through the clear glass building, the girl saw only one other student and Professor Linn. Two good things. She wasn't late, and she wouldn't have to face anyone's wrath today.

Thank goodness, she thought and let out a sigh of relief. The Ravenclaw took a seat near the middle of the class, eager to begin the lesson.

[Kali Rune]

Herbology class wasn't scheduled until the afternoon. The Slytherin didn't exactly have too much time for the clock, or at least that's what she thinks it read, reads 12:45. She had 15 minutes to get to class. Of course it wouldn't taken the Slytherin that long to get to the Greenhouse but since she had nothing better to do, she decided to head to the direction of the greenhouse anyways.

It wasn't surprising to see that there are other people in the classroom already.It was almost time for class, she would guess. She had fifteeen minutes to get there and she actually took her time just to get to class. Kali wasn't sure though what time it was. The only thing that she was certain of was that there weren't that much people, meaning that she didn't take that long to walk to class?

The numbers of his fourth years were very few, but Timothy could only assume that it must've been the time change of his schedule. So, he wasn't planning on counting the rest of them late when they arrived. However, he was going to start his lesson, and those who are late would have to catch up on their own.

"Good afternoon ladies. I see we're short-handed today, but let's hope that more arrive. Today we'll be learning about Mimbulus Mimbletonia. It is a distant cousin of the much larger bubotubers and found only in remote parts of Assyria." Getting up from his desk, Timothy went to retrieve his potted Mimbulus Mimbletonia to present to the fourth years.

"These small and very rare plants resemble a gray cactus, covered in boils, rather than spines. Known to pulsate, the Mimbletonia has an interesting defense mechanism. Can anyone guess what that is?"

[Jade "Lizzy" Silvernacle]

Lizzy turned her attention to Professor Linn as he started class and talked about how they were so few today. Shrugging to herself she waited for him to start on what they'd be learning today.

When he told them about the Mimbulus Mimbletonia Lizzy jotted down a few things, and raised her hand when he asked the question. She had read about them in a book about magical plants. "When prodded the boils release a large amount of Stinksap spraying in all directions." she said putting her hand down and waiting to see what the Professor said about her answer.

"That is correct Jade. Five points to Slytherin. So to discourage any animals from trying to eat it, this tiny soft plant expels amazingly large volumes of stinksap from all it's boils if it is bitten or poked too hard. The stinksap is a thick, dark green smelly liquid." Timothy summoned one of his large bottles from the cabinet to show the stinksap itself.

"This is it here. I won't dare open it for it's very putrid." He smiles briefly. "While the stinksap has been experimented with for variations of Dungbombs and Stinkpellets, the mimbletonia is not overly magical, and more of a curiousity and collectible, often found in the collections of serious herbologists." Like himself of course, Timothy mused.

[Elesy Miranda Longhorn *Rp?*]

Elesy was late, again, she needed to catch up, so she had to be quick to class, and, learn so she wouldn't have to worry. Elesy came to the classroom and came in, she was quick, she took a seat in the back, she didn't really like this always being late stuff, but, any who better late then never.


Elesy looked at the Professor, she listened to what she caught out of the end of him talking, since she had came in when he had been half-way done?, she wasn't sure, but, all she knew was she was late, and, she had to come to classes in order to pass.

[Professor Brayden W. Channing]

Brayden walked in as Lizzy was talking. She seemed to be answering the teacher's question. What was new?

He sat down and glanced at his watch. 1:09. He was late, obviously. Would the teacher deduct points? Kohn would have, he knew that.

His stomach growled a bit as Brayden took out his notes. He would much rather have dug around in his bag for a sandwich, but no. He had skipped lunch to catch up on some reading for the various classes he had missed.

Quickly, he wrote down the main points Lizzy and the professor said.

Lizzy smiled and wondered to herself how she kept all the facts straight for everything. She read a lot, and remembered a lot, but still most people wouldn't be able to keep things straight from one thing to the other.

Shrugging Lizzy listened as Professor Linn spoke. Nodding here and there she waited for the next thing on the agenda for herbology class today.

"Alright class, that is all for the notes on Mimbulus Mimbletonia. If any of you who have arrived late and missed part of the lecture, I suggest either seeing myself to collect notes or your fellow classmates. Anyway, have a good afternoon. You're all dismissed!" Timothy said as he began packing up his supplies as well as clearing off his desk.
