I never felt nothing in the world like this before
A song flooded through Aaryn's head. The song had never been her favorite, but somehow, it seemed right for what was going on. How long had it been since she had kissed Dezi? A month? That seemed about right. She had almost forgotten about it. But not really. And now she was thinking about him again. Dezi was single now. After that piece in the gossip column he would be, wouldn't he? So she could have him now. That's what she wanted. Then she slapped herself. How could she be so happy about hurting someone. She slapped herself again. She was losing her Slytherin touch. When she first started at this school she would have not cared if someone felt bad. She would have laughed, most likely. She wouldn't have fallen into this situation either. Aaryn was so confused.
She didn't want this confusion in her life. It was stupid. She should be able to plow through life without feeling stupid things like this. She had molded herself so that she didn't have to feel the way she did. She had purposely been mean to people so these emotions never came, but they happened. Akito... His name ran through her head. It was his fault! He had scared her. And Dezi had protected her. That was how they'd become real friends. No... They had met in first year. With Izzie. Aaryn had sat next to her and then Dezi had joined Izzie and they had met... But... No. It wasn't Izzie's fault, she just wanted to blame someone. It didn't make her feel better so she just scolded herself.

The young Slytherin had her books in her hands. They fell into the bag slung around her shoulder. She looked up at a portrait. Her face must have given away her sadness because the portrait gave a motherly face and said, "oh dearie, are you okay?" Aaryn rolled her eyes and glared at the portrait.
"Shut up," she said.
She stalked off, not bothering to look at the affronted look on the portraits face. What was the portrait doing poking her nose into Aaryn's business anyway? What did she expect Aaryn to do? Cry to the thing and spill her guts? The portrait didn't even have a life. It was a fake life, given to it by humans. Most likely to resemble some random witch or wizard that might have had some help in the school. She didn't like portraits that much. They creeped her out, really. Talking portraits. She never saw pictures move until she came to Trio's. Now that she thought about it even more it was a little sick. Aaryn shivered, brushing the brief encounter from her mind.
Why did you have to go?
Aaryn saw a portrait of a couple kissing as she stalked pass. She stopped and stared at it for a moment. The couple in the portrait looked embarrassed and pulled away from each other and began spinning in circles, to look as if they were supposed to be doing something. Aaryn thought about Dezi. He was just a boy. Why was she so pressed about him? Just another person. He didn't matter that much. Really. Right? But she couldn't answer that question. She spotted a nearby bench and sat down on it. She set down her stuff and took a deep breath in.
She put her head in her hands. She wanted to sit and do nothing for a moment. Hopefully, it would make her feel better.
