Looking Out the Window [open]

Avery walked into the Quality Quarters; he had never been in here before. The room wasn't that far away from the entrance to the Hufflepuff Tower. Every day he had always glanced at this place, but had never really explored it before. He always looked at it as a big socializing area. And socializing with people that he didn't know very well was far from his favorite thing to do.

Sighing, Avery walked over to one of the windows of the Quality Quarters. He stared out at what little of the grounds he could see from this height, and wondered about who had lived in the abandoned Gamekeeper's hut. He looked at a large bunch of students sitting near one of the room's fireplaces and wondered what they were laughing about. He sighed again, and turned back to look out the window.

Lizzy was kinda bored. She had finished her homework, and had absolutely nothing to do before dinner. So pulling off her robes and changing into a pair of cut off blue jean shorts and a yellow t-shirt that said Too Little Too Late in gold lettering across the front she grabbed her white zip jacket and left towards the QQ where she thought she might see some friends.

Putting on her jacket as she walked Lizzy let her dyed brunette hair bounce on her shoulders in the late afternoon sun as she walked.

It wasn't a long walk to the QQ from the Slytherin tower, and she soon entered the room. An icy crystal/baby blue gaze slid over the room and told her that none of her friends were there. Though she did notice a boy standing alone by one of the many windows. She had seen him in between classes and being the person to notice details that she was she knew he was a second year Hufflepuff.

Shrugging to herself Lizzy decided that it would be nice to meet someone new. Walking over to where the boy stood she smiled, "Hey, lovely view." she said looking out over the grounds where the old abandoned gamekeeper's hut was. "I'm Lizzy." she added after a moment or two in a small introduction.

Avery had been staring out the window, wondering who had lived in the abandoned Gamekeeper's hut. He wondered why Hogwarts didn't hire a new Gamekeeper anyways; what did a Gamekeeper do, exactly? 'Besides live out in the cold and away from the castle,' Avery thought in his head sadly. He wouldn't like to be a Gamekeeper, they seemed so... secluded. Sure, Avery probably enjoyed being alone more than most people, but he still wouldn't like to be completely alone like that.

He jumped when a girl walked next to him. "I- hi Lizzy!" he exclaimed, blushing a little. 'Avery, come on,' he told himself in his head. 'Stop being so afraid when people come up to you, they don't bite!' Taking a deep breath, Avery looked over at the girl. She seemed older than him. And, judging from the banner on the pocket of her jacket, she was a Slytherin. Not that that made any difference to Avery, but it was always interesting seeing which students were in which House.

"Sorry, I was just... lost in thought," he said, tilting his head towards the window. "I'm Avery, by the way."

[[just so ya know Lizzy isn't wearing her robes. She's wearing blue jean shorts, a t-shirt and a jacket. Though her jacket has a Slytherin emblem on the pocket.]]

Lizzy almost laughed at the reaction she recieved from sneaking up on someone again. Though she didn't because that wouldn't be nice, and she didn't want to be mean. Either way she just smiled, "It's quite alright. I've lost myself in thought many times. Though I've grown so used to being snuck up on that it hardly phases me anymore." she said shrugging.

Shoving her hands in the pockets of her jacket again Lizzy slid her gaze out over the view from the window. It really was a very beautiful place, and she absolutely loved it. She would be sad in just three terms when she would leave the school, probably not forever, but for a while. Though she knew she would be happy to have graduated and also she had many friends so she knew she'd never be lonely.

Turning and leaning on the wall beside the window Lizzy took in Avery. "Nice to meet you." she said sliding her gaze across the room to see if she knew anyone, but still didn't. Once she had finished looking around the room she turned her gaze back to Avery, "How are your classes?" she asked just trying to make conversation.

Avery listened intently to Lizzy. "Hahaha, yeah, I wish I could get used to people sneaking up on me and all." Avery had always been a skittish person, even back at his Muggle school. Whether a loud noise occurred or even if people just tapped him on the shoulder. He was known for it, and he figured that's why he didn't make it into Gryffindor.

"Nice to meet you too," he said to the Slytherin girl. He noticed she was looking around the room. "Oh, and my classes are great... I like pretty much all of them... But I'm a Muggleborn, so." He sighed and looked out the window again; Avery could definitely get a much better view of the grounds from Hufflepuff Tower. "I don't like Herbology though," he said when his eyes fell upon the greenhouses. "I mean, it's an okay subject, but Ms Kohn is really strict and she's a real firecracker... Did you and her get along when you were in her Herbology class?"

Lizzy laughed, "Some people are just skittish no matter what. Don't worry about it. Anyways I do that to my friends all the time." she said smiling. She could think of a bunch of friends that she could walk up behind and scare easily, like Kali, Bella(who she hadn't seen in forever and wondered what happened to her), Lils, and more. "I even get skittish at times, but not many. Though I have to be deep in thought for that to happen." she added shrugging.

Lizzy smiled at hearing he was muggleborn, "Ya I grew up with muggles even though I'm a pureblood so I know how those schools are." she said laughing and remembering her miserable past. "Coming here seems just to make life better." she added after a moment. Though that was a big understatement to her, but not others so she left it at that.

Ms. Kohn, the T.A. with the look of total strictness, but behind it an awesome person. "I always liked her. As long as you pay attention and participate in class her strictness seems to soften up." she said shrugging. She always had the impression that Ms. Kohn liked her, but maybe that was because she always payed attention and participated in her classes. Sure at first she felt a bit intimidated, but soon Lizzy liked and enjoyed the classes. When she had a question she got a clean answer, and understood it after that. "After the initial intimidation you get from her if you just relax class is fun." she added her gaze sliding around the room once again.

It was starting to fill a bit more and she recognized people sitting in groups all around the room. She smiled and waved at them, but didn't leave her conversation with Avery. It was rude, and she was in a good mood.

"I'm a really jumpy person," Avery said honestly as he listened to Lizzy talk about how she did that to her friends a lot. "Yeah, I guess I have to be in deep thought too, but then again I get into deep thought pretty easily. Or maybe any thought to me is deep, hahaha." He listened as Lizzy told him about how she was raised in a Muggleborn family but was actually in fact Pureblood. It reminded him of the Headmistress's husband, Harry Potter. So much, in fact, that he couldn't help mentioning it.

"How does that work?" he asked curiously. Then realized it came out rather unclear, he added, "Er, I mean like... Err, like, being a Pureblood but being raised by Muggleborns..." He immediately wished he hadn't asked that, for the answer came to him as he was speaking. Maybe her parents had died, or something terrible like that. Avery hated his mouth so much, it was a wonder why he didn't use it a lot.

Avery laughed when Lizzy explained to him about how Ms. Kohn was intimidating on the outside. "That's some good advice," he said. He remembered his very first Herbology class, it had been torture for him. He had accidentally spoken out of turn and had gotten the fiery side of Ms. Kohn for it. He never again would make himself speak out of turn like that ever, ever again. Or perhaps she was just like that with first years. Avery hadn't been to Herbology yet as a second year. "That kind of reminds me of what I was thinking about her when I left my first class with her," he said, remembering what he had written in his journal that night. "I thought that the next time I would see her, I would try to befriend her or be nice to her, or something like that. I mean, just cause like... She's so... strict on the outside. I dunno, I just thought I'd try to find the softer side that I think is lurking somewhere inside of her."

Avery noticed that Lizzy was waving to other people in the room that she knew, but he was happy that she wasn't leaving him to go hang out with them. Although he would never admit it, he thought to himself during that moment, 'You know, I don't think Slytherins are half as bad as the gossip around the school makes them out to be.'

[Brayden Christiansen]

Almost like he was in some sort of trance, Brayden wandered out of the portrait hole of the Fat Lady, down the steps of the tower, and down into the QQ. He had been awake in the dormitory, trying to get some sleep but for some reason, he couldn't fall asleep. So he pulled back his school robes on and walked out to the QQ. He didn't want anybody to be in the Quality Quarters at the moment, he would rather be in there by himself, but when he reached the room, he found two people sitting near one of the windows. He noticed one being Avery Yoshiko, a fellow second year who was in Hufflepuff. The girl he was sitting with, he did not now.

Brayden walked over to where the two were sitting and joined them.
"Mind if I join you? I'm Brayden Christiansen, second year. Me and Avery have already met before." he said to the girl. He noticed the emblem on the girls pants, so she seemed to be a Slytherin, a couple years ahead of both Avery and himself,

Lizzy laughed, "Well either way everyone's different. Don't worry about it so much." she said shrugging. "Anyways if some people weren't jumpy what fun would it be for my trying to scare someone who wasn't jumpy?" she asked laughing.

At the mention of why she grew up with muggles Lizzy slid her gaze around the room again, "Well, before Voldemort fell my parents were on the same side as Dumbledore and the Order. When I was one or two, I can't remember for sure much anymore, Death Eaters payed a visit to my family and tortured and killed my parents, older brother, and twin sister." she said watching that night playing out in her head. Sighing a bit she continued, "My mother's best friend was a muggle and was my godmother," Lizzy paused, she had never told anyone that Dameon's mother was her godmother. Not even Dameon himself, but she went on without much more of a pause, "And so she happily took me in since she had a little boy my age." she finished knowing full well that she hadn't said anything that helped much like the fact that she had always been depressed by it, and was now growing from it mostly, or the fact that she had been kicked out in her first term.

"Ya I liked her quite a bit. Pity she isn't the professor, but Professor Linn deserves the spot. He's been here since my first term." she said her mind still replaying her past.

Luckily she was saved from playing much more of her past in her head because Avery spoke again. Smiling she rolled her eyes, "Don't be so sure, not all of them are like me." she said not mentioning either that she always tried to be nice to people as not to create more enemies for herself.

Lizzy had taken to staring at the fire when someone else spoke. She gave a slight jump and laughed, "See told you I could be jumpy to." she said to Avery before turning to the newcomer. "Nice to meet you Brayden. I'm Jade, fourth year Slytherin." she said nodding to the emblem on her jacket pocket.[/size]

Avery listened to Lizzy and how she described her past. From what Avery could tell, she came from a very sad past. It made Avery appreciate his own family and for who they were. "That was extremely kind of her!" he noted when she talked about her best friend's mother taking her in. Avery couldn't believe the kindness and generosity of some people. Particularly in this case because he wasn't much of a fan of children. He never wanted to have them.

Avery smiled though when Brayden walked up to them and Lizzy jumped. "Haha, well you're right!" he told her, and then watched as they introduced themselves to each other. He sighed and looked out at the grounds at the empty gamekeeper's hut as the Slytherin and Gryffindor conversed. Then he looked back up at them and said, "Actually, I just remembered: we had the Herbology Professor as a teacher during the last class. Maybe Miss Kohn was sick or something... I dunno." He scratched his nose and looked up at the two of them.

Avery wasn't good at creating interesting discussion. He gulped, looked around some more, and finally said, "What optional classes do you guys take? Cause I take Care of Magical Creatures and Divination but I don't think I've ever seen you-" he looked at Brayden. "In one of them, and I don't think I'd see you-" he looked at Lizzy. "In any of them even if you did take 'em, just cause, er, you're so much older than me, hahaha."

Lizzy shrugged not mentioning that it was the same person that had kicked her out as well. "It was at the time." she mumbled inaudibly. She said it so no one but her could hear it. Though if she were talking to Brad he'd notice the angry glint in her eyes about her godmother, but only Brad knew the whole story and would understand. Either way she looked back at Avery then to Brayden, and then out over the grounds again smiling.

"Either that or she's gone." she said shrugging. "It happens sometimes. Like before Mr. Greggory came we had Queety, Professor White," she said correcting herself. She often forgot that most other classes were on first name terms with her. "the whole time. I enjoyed that. I don't like him much, but that'sjust my opinion. I think he's kinda dull." she said shrugging.

Lizzy thought a moment, "I take Divination, Deuling Club, Muggle Studies, and Care of Magical Creatures. And Avery I think you were in my Care of Magical Creatures class last term(before everyone got skipped up a year)." she said trying to remember.

Ashleigh wandered into The room. She looked around for anyone she knew.
Kel Alex, anybody who she wouldn't have to introduce herself to.

Failing that, she wandered across the room to a window where 3 people were sitting. She knew that they wouldn't notice her. Judging by the people's clothes, the boys were in Hufflepuff and Griffindor. The girl was in Slytherin. How ironic if she could join their conversation. two boys and two girls all from different houses. The original four. She didn't mind the newer one of course and completely understood it. And we didn't want overcrowding in the commonrooms did we? She walked over.
"Hello. I'm Frankie." she said. She was quiet anyway. They all looked over to her. Her hair covered one electric blue eye with a curtain of black. She was sure they hadn't seen her earlier.

Lizzy was waiting for both of the boys to answer when she heard a voice. Turning she smiled at the girl, "Hello." she said glancing at the attire the girl had on. From what she was wearing she could see the girl was Ravenclaw.

Looking around at the little group there she thought it was ironic that students from each of the four houses were sitting there conversing.

Brayden watched as another girl walked into the room and said a soft, 'hello'.
"Oh, hello. Would you like to join us, that is if you guys don't mind?" he asked Avery and Lizzy. The girl seemed very shy.

Ashleigh smiled. So thes guys (and girl) were accepting her. That made her feel happy.

"Yeah I'll join ya, if it's okay. I'm Ashleigh. Ashleigh Yarwood."

These people were so nice.
