[Kali Rune]

The Slytherin headed to the owlery with a sigh. She didn't want to go to the owlery and write to her parents. She didn't want to go there and see what they had said to her but she knew that she must no matter how much she didn't want to face it. Was there an escape button anywhere near her? No. She wish there was something though. She wished.

She took time walking up the stairs leading to the the place. There's no need to rush because either way, she would get there. She didn't want to rush either because there really isn't any point to it. She wasn't eager to see what she had received. She didn't want to see at all but she will. She knew she will.

As Kali took the last steps to the owlery and stepped inside the place, her owl went over to her and handed her a bunch of owls. She frowned at her owl who only tilted its head as if asking what he had done wrong. What had he done wrong? He hadn't exactly delievered letters the way owls were suppose to. Owls were suppose to give mails to the owner and not make the owner come up to the owlery just to get the mail.

Sometimes Kali wanted to yell at her owl but she couldn't bring herself to do it. He probably didn't know any better so why waste her time yelling at something that isn't even that imporatant. Plus, she didnt' exactly want to read the letter right?

She had two mails from her parents and one from her sister. She was confused. Her sister doesnt' write her mails at all. Why had she written then? The Slytherin shook her head and continued looking at whom was the last letter from. The letter was from her aunt speaking of which, she hadn't talked to her in a while. Kali opened the letter from her parents and her sister. She figure that she could read her aunt's letter later.



Kali dearest,
How are things going at school. All things are fine at home. As you already know, your sister is engaged. You're going to be the bridesmaid as she is your sister. You are needed at home because the wedding won't take that long to arrive. You need to be fitted and such.

How are you m'dear? Everything's swell at home. Your sister as your mother already told you is getting married in a couple of months. I know you might think that it's too soon but, it's not. Your sister is terribly happy. Your mother and i were pleased that she and her fiancée are getting along well. He's a fantastic man. We are planning to have a little family get together soon and we expect that you would be able to attend. We need to discuss things. Especially your sisters well being and all. All would be discussed at the little 'family meeting'.

Okay so lets cut to the chase. You better come home at the break. You have no choice. I dont want your little self ruining things for me. I would have been glad too if you weren't invited but unfortunately, you had to be my bridesmaid. I dont' understand it. Why can't i just find someone else to take your position. Its not like you would mind it anyways. Just be there or else.

[Professor Brayden W. Channing]

Brayden made his way up to the owlery. It wasn't as if he expected a letter. Who would write him? No one. His father had disowned him. His grandparents were dead. So was his only sibling. And his mother was too afraid of his father to make any contact with Brayden at all. He wondered if she even wanted to. It was likely. He walked in to the owlery and a bird flew to him almost instantly. Shockingly, there was a letter tied to the birds foot.

He opened the letter, slowly. As if waiting for it to start howling at him or something.

I am so sorry. I had no part of it. Your father has gone mad these days. I'm sorry. But there is nothing I can do.

Brayden shook his head in clear disgust. He felt like throwing a tantrum, right here in the owlery. Just scream. Punch some windows. But he knew just feet away from him was another student. His mother was so ignorant. He turned his head a bit to see who the other student was. "Oh, hey, Kali."

Kali stood where she had read her letter amazed. I mean, she never knew her sister would write to her at all and even if she did, like now, she kind of knew what it would have said. Of course, her sister could have been meaner to her about it but it didn't matter. She really didn't care about the letter at all. She wouldn't write back now. No, she wouldn't. But does she have to?

The Slytherin didn't know. She didn't want to but she has to. If she just stopped writing, maybe they would just forget about her. Or maybe...maybe they would annoy her buy nagging her to come home for a 'family meeting'. Her sister has been right. She didn't intend to go to the wedding. she would just replace her with one of her friends or something. She could care less but the trouble was her parents. Her sister could convnce them right? She knew her sister could.

"Oh, hey, Kali." she heard from behind her and she turned. "Hey..." she said to Brayden, surprised to find someone there for some reason. Maybe it was because she thought that everyone else had gone somewhere else.

Brayden took his letter and ripped it up. Piece by piece he threw it out of the nearest window. He was sure they were fluttering to the ground like snow. But he didn't look out of the window to confirm it. He didn't like ceiling to floor - huge - able to fall out of - windows. He was afraid of them, honestly. Because he thought he'd fall.

Finally, the letter was all gone. His mother shouldn't have bothered to write at all if she wasn't going to do something about it. And to apologize? Well, at least she admitted her husband was deep into insanity. The owl that had delivered the letter flew out of the window when it realized Brayden wouldn't be writing back.

"How're you?" Boring question. Brayden was horrible with small talk.

Kali watched as Brayden just rip the letter that he had before. She guessed that his letter is either as worse as hers or worst. The Slytherin folded her letter and put it in her pocket. She wouldn't read it again she knew because there's no point. Maybe she could just burn it or something.

Home. The thought of coming back home after the term seems like a horrible idea. Before,she had intended to visit, just to see how things were but now...now that they had written, the idea of going home seems like a bad idea. Its not like she has a choice though. She figure that if she doesn't come home in the first or so day of the break, when it comes, her sister would just parade there and drag her home. Now that would suck wouldn't it.

Kali turned to Brayden. "I'm okay" she told him. Is it true? Is it a lie? Maybe. That's what she says though isn't it. I'm okay because that's all she could manage to say. "How are you?" she asked him in return.

Brayden leaned against the ledge. Something crunched and crinkled a bit in his back pocket. He knew what it was, he didn't need to take it out. It was the letter his father had sent him. Unfortunately, and quite ironically, he had taken the letter out of his guitar case earlier that morning before breakfast. He had forgotten it was there until now. But he ignored it. He knew the words by heart by now.

"I'm...alright." He answered. "Bored with life, I guess." Brayden smirked a bit. Now that him and Kamy had broken up, he no longer had any guaranteed plans. Everything was sort of spontaneous when something did happen.

"Had any desserts lately?" His smirk was transformed into a smile. He had first met Kali in the Great Hall, by a plate of very delicious desserts. He hadn't really eaten much since then. Not purposely, of course. He just had better things to do than stuff his face with brownies like he used to do. But when he did eat, it was always junk food.

Kali nodded in agreement. Life is pretty boring. There's nothing much going on. Nothing much to do. Sure, she could try to find something but she knew she wouldn't find what she would be looking for, whatever it was. Life's just like that.

"Had any desserts lately?" Kali shook her head. She hadn't had deserts in a while but she didn't know why. It's probably because she doesn't go to the Great Hall much to eat or even in the kitchen. She wasn't hungry much but she did have a muffin. There's alway time for muffins.

"...but i did eat a muffin this morning" Kali added. Muffins are good. "Had coffee lately? Or anything sweet?" The Slytherin asked him.

[Professor Brayden W. Channing]

Coffee. Brayden sighed. "No...not in a while." He always woke up way too late and had to rush to classes to make it on time. By the time he actually had the time, it was time to go to bed. A caffeine buzz at midnight was never good. "Well, I have sweets all the time. I don't really eat meals..." He laughed a bit. "Unless you count a slice of cake and a side of ice cream a meal."

"So, are you alright? You seem kind of...down." He nodded to the letters she had in her hand, as if they were the villians whom made her upset. He didn't know this for sure, but he suspected.

Brayden didn't know Kali well, but that didn't stop him from caring about her. Weakness. He cared about everyone he knew.

Kali grinned. It could count, she guess. For other people it doesn't count. But it could right? "If you count it...or if there's enough people to count it..." Kali said and shrugged. It didn't really matter.

She looked outside through the window. She didn't really see anyone out there. Where are all the people these days? Last term, even if you're in the owlery, you could just see people doing whatever from the window. Its not like she cares or need to see the people from the window, she was just curious.

"So, are you alright? You seem kind of...down." Kali turned to Brayden then shrugged. "Its just my family...writing" she told him. Other than Jade, no one really knows about her family. She didn't even know if that's a big deal, you know not getting along with them like other people does. But these days, how many family get along perfectly?

"Are you alright?" Kali asked him then. She wasn't sure if it was alright to ask him that. He took seem down from the letter he had gotten. Why else would he rip them to shreds?
