Holden chuckled and smiled. "Cheah. I don't want to be a human popsicle." Then he thought of something. "Would it be cannibalism to lick a human popsicle?" It was like asking 'Is it progression if a cannibal uses a fork?'. But would it be concidered cannibalism. Thanks Amanda, make him go into his own little work questioning everything. XD

Peppermint in hot chocolate? The fifth year didn't know that existed. Or at least...he never thought about putting peppermint into hot chocolate. Holden liked peppermint preztels. They were really good but after you finished eating them your tongue would be cut up and bleeding. At least, that's how Holden's tongue came out in the end.

Holden pushed open the door to the Kitchens and kept the door open for the hamburger cupcake. He let the door swing as he left the door to look around for some hot chocolate. Last time he was in the Kitchens he was with Alessa. The day had ended both of them covered in coacoa powder and laughing till their sides were sore. The memory made Holden smile. He wondered how she was holding up.

"Now, if I was hot chocolate where would I be?" Holden looked to Amanda. "Do you make your hot chocolate with water or milk?" He made his with milk. Milk in a pot and you put two packs of hot chocolate into the pot when the milk is really hot. Then stir till all the power is gone. That's how Holden Caulfield was taught how to make hot chocolate. Amanda's way might be a bit different.

"We're going to need cups too," he muttered. The Hufflepuff began looking for two coffee mugs to put the hot chocolate in. Knowing his luck there would be no cups or no hot chocolate powder. But that would only result into Amanda or Holden making it appear with their wands. Holden remembered to bring his this time. =]

The comfort within those stone walls was more welcoming than the open tower above them. She felt slightly warmer as they descended back within the castle and through the halls. Her sapphire orbs averted toward his direction, quite surprised at such a question. "Er, I don't think so Holden," she giggled. But would it? "I think it's just some kind of licking fetish."

-.-' Well what else was she suppose to say? It wasn't cannibalism unless you intentionally take a bite out of a person. Unless you have a biting fetish. Ew and ick! Whatever brought up this subject anyway? Human popsicle. Her eyes rolled as they continued down the hallway. At least she could feel her limbs again so she took off Holden's gloves, but kept them in her pockets for now.

Amanda looked forward to hot chocolate and crushed candy peppermint pieces. It reminded her of home during wintery days and laying cozily by the frosted window with a book. Her mother would come in and take her away from her stories just to share drinks together and talk. Oh how she missed home, but her parents weren't far away. She could always visit them during the break for a day since they lived in London.

As she walked through the open door to the Kitchens, thanks to Holden for holding it for her, she glanced around at the many cabinets. How was one suppose to find hot chocolate mix and milk around here? "Erm, in one of those cabinets," she laughed as she began looking through the first one to the left. "Milk," she looked toward Holden, "it is more creamier and thick than water."

This was quite annoying. How do people and house elves go through here so easily knowing where everthing is? "Pfft, they should make labels for these cabinets. This makes me feel lost," she huffed in triumph. Perhaps it would be best to summon the packets and mugs. Her lips curled up into a smile as she took her wand out. "Who are we kidding. Where would we be without magic anyway."

Amanda swished her wand in the air while mutter, "Accio peppermint candies," at first. Several flew out of one closet which caught her attention. "You think if sweets come from in there... that there would be more?" She cocked her head to the side, but brushed the thought aside. "I shouldn't get side tracked," she giggled, "but you never know."

A smile came up on his face. "Labels would make everything a lot more better. An 'EASY' button would be best though." Holden, like Amanda, pulled out his wand. "Accio mugs. Accio hot chocolate." Two mugs came from cabinets he would have never guessed of looking and hot chocolate came from a cabinet from where Holden was at.

The items sat on the counter and the Hufflepuff put his wand back in his back pocket. He went over to the bottom cabinets and found a pot. Holden sat it on the stove. He walked over to the fridge and got out some milk. There was enough left to make two cups of hot chocolate. Lucky them.

He poured the milk into the pot and turned on the stove. Holden turned around to look at Amanda while the milk got hot. He quietly chuckled. "We'd be Muggles. I'd be with my dad in high school, getting ready to graduate and become something." Holden smiled. "What's wrong with getting a bit sidetracked?"

Holden turned back around and put two bags of hot chocolate into the pot. He pulled out his wand again and tapped the pot and it began stirring on its own. A sigh came from his lips as he put his wand away. "What do you want to be once you get out?"

"Oh you're right. An easy button would make life much more simpler," she smiled as she began unwrapping her peppermint candies. And since he summoned their mugs and hot chocolate, there wouldn't be a hassle of having to go through those darn cabinets. But how he found the pot beneath the cabinets drew curiosity to him.

"So, you know where the pots and pans are? You've been meddling in the kitchens before!" Her mouth half open in surprise, but secondly turned into a wide smile. Amanda pulled out drawers, looking for something to smash the peppermint pieces with. No luck, she went to the cabinet full of pots and took out a small one. "When in doubt, improvise," she snickered.

Amanda watched as Holden poured the rest of the milk and began warming it up. Meanwhile, she smashed the pieces of peppermint under the pot she used and piled the small chunky pieces into one pile. Then levitating the pot to the sink, she looked to Holden and smiled. "I don't know what it's like to really live as a muggle, but I've always been intrigued. Surely I'd be going to this high school."

She wasn't accustomed to many muggle stuff, especially their inventions. Why call a school, high school? And were they seperated or all together like Hogwarts? "Oh nothing is wrong I guess. It's just hopefully we don't get as sidetracked to overboil the milk." Amanda hoisted herself up on the counter beside the stove and watched as the milk became hotter.

After two bags of hot chocolate and a stirring spell, she looked away while crossing her legs at her ankles. "I haven't really thought about what I wanted to be in a long time. At first, I wanted to be a reporter for the Daily Prophet because I had a passion for writing, but I guess after having a taste of it, I wasn't cut out for writing. I want to do something more effective in this world. Perhaps work in the Ministry or become some quidditch player if I can." She chuckled. "And you?"

Only reason Holden knew where the pots were because one, people always put pots at the bottom of cabinets and two, or they put them on those pot hangers on the ceiling. And at home, the Caulfield pots were at the bottom of cabinet. Most of them were worped because Holden had the tendency to get the pot and pans really hot then put them in cold water making it steam. =]

Holden looked to Amanda and smiled. "So I confess, I've been in here before. And it is my intentions to commender over this Kitchen. What are you going to do about it?" He was joking of course. Only joking.

His head turned to look back at the pot with the nice hot chocolate in it. Not ready just yet. He wondered if you put the peppermint in while its cooking or when you put the hot chocolate in the mug. Holden was about to ask Amanda when he heard a BANG! then a POW!

Holden quickly turned around almost putting his hand on the hot stove. Amanda was beating the crap out of the peppermints. His eyes went wide as the pan struck the already crushing peppermints. I shall never make her mad. Ever. I might get killed with a pan...or worse. Amdana put the pan in the sink and Holden a sigh of relief. He wasn't going to die by the pan. Yes, THE PAN!

He turned off the stove and picked up the pot full of very very hot chocolate. Holden picked up the mugs and carried them along with the pot to the sink. He put the mugs down and picked one back up. Amanda talked about being a writer or being a Quidditch player. Holden put hot chocolate in both mugs. He carried them back to Amanda and sat on next to her.

"At first I wanted to be a Quidditch player. But I know I never want to be famous. All the publisity and crap. People knowing all about you and you never knowing they exist. People always talk bad about you when they don't even know you. So I might work with the Reversal Squad when I leave or work as a Mediwitch wizard. I haven't seen one of them."

"So..if you're a famous Quidditch player do I get an autograph and get to go for one free game?," he asked teasingly.

"I-I-I'm not going to do anything about it," she crossed her arms and nodded sharply to him. What could she do anyway? Strip him of his title? Hah, like she'd do that. Plus, what student has not made their way down into the kitchen to snoop around? Well Amanda has only been here once and that was it. She actually had tea here with a close friend, but the house elves were so kind to make the tea for them.

It seems that her peppermint bashing caught Holden's attention. She wasn't scaring him, was she? Refraining to laugh, she just waited for her hot chocolate to be done with. Holden was the master at hot chocolate making, and Amanda... well she could just make some noise. As Holden joined her on the counter with their mugs, she sprinkled the peppermint bits in her own.

She could already smell the peppermint disintegrating. This would give it that minty taste as well as clearing her mind and keeping her sinuses open. Afterall, she was outside in the snow and she could have caught a cold! She listened to Holden while taking her first sip, which burnt her lips. Her fingers pressed lightly against them to numb the pain.

"You made a good point there Holden. Being famous wouldn't be fun, but not all famous people could be that bad. No, I'm not going to use Harry Potter for example, but how about iconic figures like Princess Diana or even Albus Dumbledore. But I guess for each person, it depends on their choices. And yes, publicity would suck too," her shoulders shrug.

"Hm, those sound promising, especially a mediwizard position," she smiled. "You'll be able to cure some kind of illness and care for the unhealthy to get healthy. You'll be Dr. Caulfield." And maybe he'll be treating Amanda in the future if ever she suffered from injury or illness. That'd be...weird.

Amanda blew over the top of her hot chocolate to cool the liquid before taking a sip. She looked to Holden and stuck her tongue out. "If I become famous, you can have as many autographs as you want and free games. But if I don't become a quidditch player and you work around the Ministry instead of St. Mungo's, then I'll see you around the Ministry."

Holden smiled when Amanda stuck her tongue out at him. He stuck out his jokingly and leaned against the wooden table in the kitchen. “I should work in the Ministry. I think it would fun. I could go into your office and mess around everything. Then you can go ‘Caulfield!’. Fun fun.” Oh so Amanda wanted to see him at work. What would the people at work think? Larfield…together? O.o

He took a sip of his hot chocolate and made a face. Holden’s whole tongue was burnt. “Ouch. I burnt my whole tongue. Ouch.” Now his tongue felt all numb and weird. It hurt to put his tongue at the roof of his mouth or near his teeth. Gah. This is going to hurt for a week. Great.

The Hufflepuff put the mug he was using on the table and crossed his arms. He was going to wait till it cooled down to drink it. Till then he would just have to wait. “What are you going to do over break? I’m going to see how my dad is holding up being alone.” In four months it would be the anniversary of his mother’s death. Valentine’s Day. What joy that would be. Holden might go visit his father for two days then come back. Probably visit the cemetery a bit and just take things easy. Hopefully Jeffree Caulfield [Holden’s dad] would be okay.

Holden looked to his cup and watched the steam come from the hot mug. A sigh came from his lips as he picked up the mug once again and set it to his lips. He took a gulp of it and swallowed. This time it didn’t burn as bad but his tongue still felt odd. A week of that was going to annoy the crap out of him.

“If you could live any place in the world where would you live?” Holden smiled. Twenty questions was fun. It helped pass the time till the new librarian shows up. Edward had left them. ;_; It was quite depressing for the Hufflepuff and his companion. Soon Holden began wondering what Animangi he would be. Hopefully a raccoon!

"Tut tut and you'd think you would get away so easily. I mean, if we're working in the Ministry, I could just very well get you back after clearing up my desk. But you won't find me around. I just may be... invisible," she grins before taking another sip of her hot chocolate. It was definitely minty, just the way she liked it, but not as frothy since she didn't add marshmallows.

Amanda tried hard not to laugh, or spit out her hot chocolate, so instead she hurryingly swallowed before choking on the dark chocolately liquid. "Ooo.. that isn't going to feel good for the week," she snickered as she wiped off traces of hot chocolate off her chin with her sleeve. "Don't you just wish there was some kind of charm to make the icky pain on your tongue go away? I bet there is! Or a potion! Hm..."

She thoughtfully sat back on the counter, wondering what all potions the nurse had in her hospital ward. There had to be plenty! More than plenty since it seems like she had cure for every ailment that students have come down with. However, once Holden asked what she was doing over the break, her train of thoughts broke. His father alone? How... sad. =/

"Oh..." She wasn't sure what to say to his father being alone, nor did she intend to ask any questions about it. "I bet he'll enjoy your presence around. Even if it be the week or so," she smiled. "As for me, I'll be around here at the school. Though I'll probably visit my family for a day since they live close by." Very close since they originate in London.

Her sapphire orbs downcasted, watching the swirls of froth in her hot chocolate steam a little. An index finger lightly glided over the rim of her mug as she thougth about the one place she would like to live. "That's a difficult quesiton to answer. I love it here in London, but I'd really like to live in Italy. Especially Rome. All the art history surrounded there and beautiful lands, I'd call it my next home."

Secretly she loved art and literature, but that was her mom's side of her. However, Amanda enjoyed stories by the sea, and she'd hope to find a place where she had the beach all to herself. Perhaps one day she'll buy herself some private land by the sea and not worry much about work or her daily stressful life. "What about you? Where would you live? And why?"

"I don't think my presence changes my dad much. He likes company but my whole family is pretty independent. But since mom died he hasn't been the same. The house is real quiet I've noticed." Holden sighed as he thought about his mom. The last things he said to her pained him. He shook his head. Pain was a weakness. It was better not to feel anything. An angry expression came upon his face as he thought he didn't want to be weak.

Amanda distracted him from this thought when she said she wanted to live in Italy. Everyone talks of Italy, it really wasn't all that great. Holden thought about it. Norway? Finland? Denmark? Sweden? Russia? Lithania? Bulgaria? Hungary? Romania? Iceland? Greenland? France? He looked back to his cup then looked to Amanda.

"Probably either Russia or Finland or France. France would be easy since I already speak French fluently but I'd like to go where no where else wants to go. Learn a completely new language to survive. Some place where no one cares. Place where they're neutral. Independent upon themselves." Holden continued to look at her. "But I know I'll probably end up staying in London or going to France." Well the French were a bit...French. What can I say?

He thought about another question to ask her. Something different but original. "Do you ever want get married or have kids?" Amanda didn't seem like the type but she could probably get about any guy she wanted. She wasn't ugly but Holden wasn't about to go 'Gawd you're sexy Amanda'. One, that would be REALLY weird. Two, she's probably kick his arse for thinking it. So it was best to avoid the whole situation by not even thinking of it.

Personally Holden hated kids. But he would have one if it really came down to it but he probably wouldn't be a good father. He liked independence but someone that he could really talk to. From his other relationships Holden decided that he would stay single for a very very long time. Romance wasn't his thing. Tragedy was more in his forte.

'Oh,' she mouthed to herself when he mentioned his mother passing away. She couldn't even begin to imagine losing a parent. How is it that Holden could appear so normal when such a tragedy has happened? She kept her eyes on her mug of hot chocolate, avoiding to look at him for awhile. What could she say? Obviously she wasn't going to mention her own family again and how she loved them dearly.

Amanda was a family person, vulnerable if anything happened to either one of them. She isn't as strong as she would have liked to appear. Shifting in her position, she stole a glance of Holden, noticing how he frowned so suddenly. But luck was on her side when subjects change to countries that either would like to live in if they could.

There is one other place they had in common, and that was France. Her childhood consisted of vacations in Paris as she visited her relatives. Listening to his list of why he'd like to live in some place, she couldn't help but notice that Russia wouldn't be the greatest country to live in. All their laws since Ivan the Terrible were so ridiculous. The country itself is scandulous!

"If all fails, though, you could move to Antarctica and learn the penguin language," she giggled. If she could, Amanda would live there just for the penguins since they are her favorite animal. And if she chose to be an animagi in the future, she'd want to be a penguin, but her form wouldn't be useful around here. She'd stick out like a sore thumb.

"Uh,"married or have kids? Amanda never looked that too far head in her future. However, as she watched the Headmistress with her baby or Professor Slughorn roaming around so happy with a glow around her face, she wondered, would she be cut out as a good wife and mother? "I think eventually I'd like to get married and have children. I just won't know until it happens though. Who knows how I'll live my life after school."

Already she's had boy troubles since she arrived to the school almost a year ago. An encounter with Akito left her wondering for the rest of her life if she was really worth anyone's love. The slash across her cheek, which she still could feel some days, was a reminder of Akito's warning. And then there was Tristam, who she should have know was toying with her emotions before he left so abruptly. Since then, she couldn't really trust no one else besides Nathaniel.

"If you can imagine yourself twenty years from now, where would you be?" She finally asked before taking a sip of her hot chocolate. Hopefully her silence wouldn't alarm Holden. But it's just little bits of her memory brought back times she wished to forget. Especially the past two terms.

A smile came upon his face. Holden hated penguins. Everyone absolutely loved them. He automatically loathed anything people really liked. It was quite odd in his oppinioned but it just happened naturally. "Penguin language," he scoffed.

"Raccoons are much better than penguins," he stated. We can only guess what animal Holden liked. A bandit of an animal. But they were so cute and adorable. How could anyone not love them? Once on the side of the road there were five raccoons surrounding one dead one. [True story I witnessed]. It personally made Holden choke.

He nodded at her answer so that she would know that he had been paying attention. Holden wondered where he would be located at? Would he be cut out for the Reversal Squad? Would he enjoy it? Maybe a lawyer, he liked arguing like crazy. But Reversal Squad sounded better and last time he checked they needed more people.

Holden personally didn't want to be "in love" again. How many times had he heard someone say they loved him and not mean it? So many times. Haley and him had said it to each other. See how that worked out? They had constantly fought back and forth over little things in life. Jessica said that she loved him and he had said it back. Now where was Jessica? Gone for good and never coming back. She hadn't even told him she was leaving forever. Nice girlfriend if you ask me. [sarcasm]

He sighed at the thought of Jessica. Holden picked up his mug again and took another gulp. His gray eyes looked to the mug, it was almost empty.

Even though Russia would be a terrible country to live in Holden would take that chance. It couldn't be that terrible of a country. Nothing could have been worse than Stalin, a paranoid skitzofrentic and the killing of Nicholas and Anastasia. The Russians had helped in the war against Hitler. Amanda asked him a question and he looked up suddenly. The silence had consumed him for a bit.

Where do I think I'll be in twenty years? That was a hard question. A sigh came from his lips again as he thought about it. The Caulfield looked back to the mug he was using. "I think...I'd live in London for a few years then move. Move somewhere. Anywhere. I don't want to go back to Canada. Everyone wants to go to Canada. I think I'd also be alone. Not married. No kids. No anything. A house. Books. Magic. Nothing much. I've never wanted much. Maybe working a job that keeps my constant presents so I wouldn't feel lonely." Holden looked back up to Amanda with a bit of a frown on the edges of his mouth.

"Where do you think you'll be in twenty years?"

Pfft, Penguins are far much better than Raccoons. Darn those garbage diggers! Plus I almost ran over one once, it was scary. But that's not the point! Amanda rolled her eyes at Holden and continued sipping the remainder of her hot chocolate. It was so tastey when it came near to the bottom where all the peppermint pieces settled.

Amanda wasn't going to fight back with Holden on Penguins and Raccoons. Instead, she smiled faintly while levitating her mug to the kitchen sink. Eventually a house elf would interrupt and scold them for not soaking the mugs. But where were the house elves anyway? On vacation? That's odd since they were always busy around the kitchen, preparing meals upon meals for the day.

She wondered what Holden was thinking about. Did the question she asked was too difficult to answer? She knew twenty years was a bit far-fetched, but she'd like to think he'd have some visable future for himself. Amanda knew perfectly well where she would end up. Her parents were such an influence on her life, but she did too wonder how she might change from them.

Finally Holden broke their silence and she listened intently to his answer. It was very simple, his future life, but alone. It made her a bit sad. Would they still keep their friendship for the future? Be those old pranksters at reunions here at the school before people finally recognize who the both of them are? When it was her turn, she smiled faintly with a nod.

"I think I'll be happily married with children who will be somewhere around our age or a little bit younger. I'll live in some home that is warm and cozy, filled with laughter and love. Probably work with the Ministry, and if not there, then hopefully somwhere worth waking up to everyday." She could dream, couldn't she? For the perfect like at least.

"But who knows, this is just the future we're predicting here. For all I know, I could end up like some old hag with cats," she added for a bit of laughter. "What are your plans for next term? Goals you'd liked to meet?"

His expression didn't change much. It went from the edges of his mouth being a frown to a straight line. Amanda wanted it that way or around that for a life. It seemed pretty normal to him. "Mini-Amanda's running around," he said.

Would they still keep their friendship? Probably. Maybe the first two years after they both move far away from each other they would write back and forth of their adventures. Then one day one would stop writing the other, probably Amanda, since she would have found some guy she liked and wanted to spend time with him than to write to Holden.

Holden would be completely consumed by his studies and work that he would think only briefly of what Amanda might be doing and if she was okay. Amanda would get married and start having kids while Holden grew old alone and kept to himself. It didn't seem so bad. To ends of a pole, but it wouldn't be so bad? Would it?

He began thinking to himself. Did he really want to be alone? No. Maybe have someone live with him. Not that Holden was afraid of commitment, no he wasn't. It was just it seemed like you'd never get a moments peace but you would have someone there when you needed them. If you were alone in a house or an apartment you didn't have that. You were just alone. But kids were another story. They seemed so...unbearable. Holden has a temper and it could easily set off one day and then his child or children would be terrified of him. He didn't want that at all.

A snort came from his nose as he came out of a daze. Amanda with a house full of cats. Ha! It wouldn't go past Holden but Amanda seemed totally the opposite. To him, it seemed like she would have a nice big family with lots to do all the time. Her twenty-years later didn't sound so bad to Holden, but he would still like to live alone for a while and do some studying on some subject. Something. Anything.

His grey eyes shot up to Amanda as he finished his hot chocolate. "I don't know if I'll still play Quidditch. It depends if I can get a job in Hogsmeade or not. If I want to start living somewhere then I need money. Nothing is for free. Probably study a lot. Find jobs that are interesting to me. Pass my classes. I don't know what else till it comes here." Holden liked taking one step at a time.

"What about you?"
