Fourth and Fifth Years: Class One

[Azar Salinas]

Whistling tunelessly, Azar meandered the well worn corridors of Hogwarts Castle towards the Defence Against Dark Arts classroom - his classroom, for the day's class. It was the younger of his two classes today, meaning some new names and faces to get used to. It was to be looked forward to though, as he got to meet a new bunch of youngsters, each with talents and aspirations. To apraise the talent side of things today, Azar had a practical and theory lesson planned to get a measure of the new intake's overall level.

Finally reaching the classroom, Azar pushed the door and entered. As with any start of term, the desks were neatly ordered, all chairs tucked under, and Azar had no reason to do anything but sit and wait for his students. As he waited, he flicked open the textbook he had with him, and with his wand began highlighting some passages in a specific section: Impedimenta.

[Nyna Adustum]

The first Defense Against the Dark Arts class of the term, and Nyna was excited. Sadly, the Ravenclaw was rather drowsy for some reason, so she wasn't really up to showing her enthusiasm for the class. That was never any fun, being too tired to be happy. Oh well. Maybe she'd wake up later. Hopefully.

Upon entering the DADA room, Nyna quickly realized that she was the first student there. That had never happened in a Defense Against the Dark Arts class, so this was special. The girl perked up a bit, but still took a seat in the back of the room, her actions dictated purely by habit. Once there, she put her head on her desk and waited for other students to arrive. She desperately hoped the Professor would understand. Nyna wasn't trying to be rude, she was just so tired.

[Jade "Lizzy" Silvernacle]

"Some change is far from good." Lizzy muttered to herself as she walked down the corridors towards her DADA class. Glaring at the corridor ahead of her she navigated her way to the classroom. Once outside of the door she put on a smile as if she wasn't mad beyond belief.

Stepping inside she gave Mr. Salinas a smile before looking around the room. Seeing as she was the second student there she went and sat in a back corner of the room. Pulling out her quill, parchment, and ink she sat back and gazed out of the window waiting for class to start.

_{Nicole was excited. Normally, she hated her mandatory lessons but that was because she normally hated her TA's. Fifth years got the privilege of having a professor. A real professor - someone who knew what they were doing. Smiling, Nicki enters Defense, eager to start and quickly strolls towards the middle of the room, not too picky where she was seated just as long as the lesson started soon, please.}

[Professor Brayden W. Channing]

Brayden pulled the door open to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. During his first year, he hated this class. Then, he was interested in seeing the Dark Arts rise again, and joining them. He was ignorant. Though, as he grew, he matured mentally and left that phase behind. Now, he was eager to fight against them. Which was why he loved this class.

"Hello, Professor Salinas." Brayden acknowledged him before taking a seat.

Kaley slowly entered the room to find Nyna, appearing to be asleep. At least, the Ravenclaw looked like she was trying to. Kaley doubted the girl would succeed once she sa down next to her. She headed to the last row and took the seat on Nyna's right. She leaned down next to the girl's ear, the whole time being quiet. Then she yelled, "Hey Nyna!" in her ear. She quickly leaned back in case Nyna jerked up.

[Brie Alley]

Classes. Oh no. Not again. But this girl was ready for all of her classes. Especially since she hadn't gone to them last term. That was her fault. And she needed to get back. But suddenly she realized, alot of people weren't attending classes. Brie walked into DADA. And sat down. Right next door to Nyna. She smiled. And then realized who was on the other side of her. Kaley. She sighed.

[Illusion Avery Rayne]

Illusions year, had started off good. Woot. She was on time for another class. Go Illy Lu. Looking around, the large class room. Brie was here. And.. And.. Well she didn't know many other older years, only those who we're her year mates. Illusion also saw Kaley. Well this wasn't going to be good.... Illusion thought to herself as she sat next to Brie. "This is going to get interesting." she told Brie in a hushed whisper.

[Kali Rune]

The Slytherin looked around the classroom as she entered. What they would be doing; unknown but she could wait. The girl saw a couple of people she knew and smiled at them before sitting down on a seat at the back. How many times has she mentioned sitting in 'the back of the room'? A lot of times.

Her cousin is certainly not there. Kali hadn't spoken to her either in a while now. Maybe she ought to at least say hi to her or something when she sees her or maybe just owl her or drop by to say hello. Kali could wait but for the mean time, she began to draw.

Eric strolled down the corridors knowing he had Defence Against the Dark Arts right now but honestly he knew he would be on time for once this term. Eric's day had been good so far he had woke up on time got to breakfast and actually finished his studying on time. He just hoped his luck would hold up in D.A.D.A class.

Eric got to the classroom door and opened it. Once in he scanned the class not seeing anyone he knew personally he took a seat in the back. Now if Briony would hurry up and get here everything would be great. Eric decided to save her a seat so he put his bag on the seat next to him.

For once in her life Briony was actually right on time for something. Actually, she had been making it a habit lately, odd as that was. This time, it was DADA class she was on time for. It was rather nice walking down the hallway, rather than running down it and trying to get past lost first years. Walking into class, she looked around and frowned at what she saw. What was Holden doing here? She had hung out with him once and she knew he wasn't supposed to be in this class.

Shaking her head just a bit, Briony walked over to Eric and saw that he had saved her a seat. "Thanks, Eric." Dumping her bag on the floor, Briony picked his up and moved it to the floor beside his seat. Sitting down, Briony reached down and dug around in her bag for a moment. Pulling a book out from it, she held it out to Eric. "Here is your copy of The Black House back. It was very good."

Violet walked inside the classroom. Looking around, she spotted her cousin and walked over to her. "Hey" Violet said to her and sat down next to her, although Violet hadn't sat in the back in a long time. "What's up?" she asked her cousin as she took out her quill and parchment.

Violet had not talked to her cousin in a while. She probably is thinking the same thing, or at least had thought about it.

Sleep was peaceful. Sleep was good.
As long as no one screamed in your ear and you woke up when class was supposed to start.

"Hey Nyna!"

But someone did scream in the Ravenclaw's ear, or at least close enough to jolt her from her peaceful dreaming. Darn them. Darn them. Darn them. Nyna looked up at her tormenter with one eye. It was Kaley she was 'darning', no big surprise.

"Hello, Kaley," she said, her voice much lower and quieter than her Slytherin friend's had been, "It is a pleasure to see you again." She wasn't sure if she was sarcastic or not, but she knew one thing for sure. Her time of sleep was over.

Aaryn entered class and scanned the classroom. She noticed that Holden was in it. Why was he in teh classroom. 0.0 Shouldn't he be in the Sixth Years class? Maybe he could held back in DADA. Teehee. She noticed another girl she hadn't seen in a while. Kaley Prellop. Back when they were doing that mischeif gang thingie. She must have gotten held back, because she should have been a sixth year by now.

She sat down next to the girl. "Dunno if you remember me," Aaryn said, "but hullo Kaley."

Kaley looked at the girl who sat on the other side of Nyna and shook her head, a stern look setting across her face. "What, you didn't get hurt enough the last fight so you decided you wanted to go again?" She said it loud enough for Brie to hear, but not the teacher. She didn't feel like getting sent out of the class. She could care less about losing House Points, but she nedded the notes.

Kaley smiled as Nyna looked up, obviously agitated with her. She didn't mind. Nyna would get over it soon enough, knowing her personality. "The pleasure is all yours," she replied having heard that line in a movie. She coudln't name the movie, the name escaped her mind at the moment, but she knew she'd heard it from somewhere. "Why are you so sleepy today? Stay up too late last night with all that homework we got?" she asked.

Kaley then turned as another girl spoke to her from the other side. Kaley thought hard for a moment, recognizing the face, though she couldn't figure out where from. Finally it hit her. This was the main girl of that evil club she joined that never took off. How the other Slythie remembered Kaley, she never could've guessed, but she didn't mind. The more people the merrier. Except in Brie's case. "Yeah, from that club thing, right? Aaryn something?" she asked.

Once again, the very same song that was stuck in David's head was back in his head again. Dude, what's up with that? The last time that song played in his head was when he was headed for Charms? or whatever the class was. Why was it playing again now at Nosy Joe's head?

David slouched to his seat and waited for what what teacher is going to do. He should probably call his teachers by their names...like Professor somebody or other rather than 'the teacher' or 'dude'.

[Elesy Miranda Longhorn *Rp?*]

Elesy came into class, she had been delayed a little, because, of mis-placing, something of hers, like maybe her all important, notebook. Elesy smirked as she entered, and, took a random seat. She was happy that she made it to class, and, that was the goood thing, she did make it to class, so that meant, she was fine. Elesy took out a quill, and, began to draw for one second. Elesy then quit.

She put her mind into focusing on what was going to happen, and, what she would learn in this class. Elesy gaev a slight sigh for now, and, waited.

[Kali Rune]

The Slytherin, who had not done anything for last few...minutes? was stuck to doing nothing. She was not in the mood to be drawing. She didn't know what to do though. There was no guitar here to play and even if there is, she wouldn't do it anyways. There were people around.

As she was about to lay her head on the table, her cousin entered the classroom. Kali wondered what had happened to her and where she had been all this time. "Hey" Kali replied to her softly and looked around her. "Nothing much really..." was her answer to the question although the real answer wasn't 'nothing much'. That's all she likes to say for some reason. No need to worry anyone else with her troubles.

"What's up?" she then asked her cousin.

Astrid walked into Defense Against the Dark Arts and took a seat next to someone that she had never met before. She believed the girl's name was Kali, but she couldn't be positive. She turned to the girl and parted her lips to speak to her. "Hey..." was all Astrid said before turning her attention to the professor. She wondered what they were going to learn that day. DADA was one of Astrid's favorite classes. She loved learning the various ways how to protect herself from dark magic.

"What, you didn't get hurt enough the last fight so you decided you wanted to go again?"

Nyna's head perked up instantly. It seemed the two were going to get into a fight? Over what? Just because Brie sat next to Nyna? Was Kaley that protective of her? Not a chance. It had to be something else. Maybe her fellow Ravenclaw did something to tick the Slytherin off. More than likely. Didn't she know to be careful around Kaley, or Slytherins in general? Nyna shook her head sadly. Silly housemate. She wasn't quite sure what to think about her, but she knew one thing.

If a fight broke out between her friend and her house, she did not want to be caught in the crossfire. That would be instant death.

"The pleasure is all yours."

Nyna was fairly sure that the phrase was supposed to be different, but knowing Kaley, she had meant for it to be that way. A play on words that suited her purpose. Something that destroyed any thought of the Slytherin having typical, human modesty. Of course, Nyna had grown used to this. Five terms would get someone used to just about anything.

"Of course, Kaley. The pleasure is all mine, as always," sarcasm was not one of her strong points, but she still used it every so often. It could be fun.

"Why are you so sleepy today? Stay up too late last night with all that homework we got?"

Nyna nodded and gave half a smile. That was part of the reason she had been up so late. The teachers had decided that every minute they weren't in class, the students should have homework. 'Twas wonderfully kind of them. The other part was that after she had finished her homework, sleep refused to visit her. It was nearing morning by the time she got to sleep.
