Coffee & Chat (First Year Girls)

The beginning of term had gone pretty well for Sophie-Ann, she felt, but one thing had been bugging her. She hadn't really gotten a chance to talk to any other girls in her year, get to know any of them outside of classes- it had mostly been blokes wanting to speak to her. This was OK, but you couldn't really beat a girlie chat, could you?

Soph being Soph, she'd resolved to do something about it, so, the night before, she'd spent a couple of hours putting up posters outside common rooms and classrooms, and Sophie-Ann reckoned she'd achieved pretty good coverage.

So, now she found herself waiting in the Quality Quarters alone, hoping that some other ladies would show up so that she wouldn't look like a complete lemon. A brief moment of panic had struck her this morning, when she realised she didn't know how to heat a kettle by magic just yet, but the House Elves had been more than delighted to lend her a self-heating kettle when she'd popped down there to borrow the cups.

Now, a row of about twenty mugs was lined up on the table, and the kettle stood on a stand, bringing itself nicely to the boil. A little jug of milk and pot of sugar stood at the side, which Sophie-Ann hoped would last the evening.

She tapped her feet nervously, as she waited for the first guest to show up.

AnnaSophia wandered into the Quality Quarters. She had seen a few of the posters in the halls and had decided to take a look. I mean, she needed new friends too, or, she'd like to have more friends, it would always give her a chance to have someone to talk to all the time. She bit her lip, seeing one girl who she thought could be Sophie-Ann. The girl who's name was written at the bottom of each poster.

"Umm.." she said warily, walking over to the girl, "Are you Sophie-Ann?" she asked curiously, but didn't hesitate to introduce herself, "I'm AnnaSophia Thomas, first year Mihael." she smiled more confidently, extending her hand to the girl. "I saw one of those poster's about the first year girls' thing happening in here. Around this time." she added, arching her brow.

"Hopefully I didn't mess up the dates." she chuckled.

"I think the mugs were a clue," Sophie-Ann said with a smile. "Pleased to meet you, AnnaSophia." Soph felt a mixture of happiness and relief that at least one person had decided to turn up. Soph always found it funny how people always introduced themselves with their year and house, a bit like the military. 'James Blaydon, private first class!' she thought to herself, with amusement.

"How do you take your coffee then?" Soph asked, the kettle beginning to whistle with perfect timing, as if it somehow knew (and Sophie wasn't entirely sure that it didn't).

Oh wow. It seemed like Charlotte had only just arrived and she had already discovered something amazing. Around the school, she'd seen lots of posters and notices for a party of sorts. A get together for first year girls only. A way to meet people and make friends. Basically, Charlotte was ecstatic. This would be a really easy way to make friends. No awkwardness, because everyone is there for the same reason: to meet other first year girls and make friends. So she wouldn't be the odd one out.

Dressed in light blue skinny jeans, black Vans with purple hippos on them and a light purple t-shirt with a sheep on the front, she walked into the Quality Quarters. There were two people there. One was familiar, and one wasn't. Grinning, she neared the two and said, "Hello again, AnnaSophia! We met in the Mihael Common Room before, remember?" Green eyes averted to the other girl, and she said, "I'm Charlotte, but you can call me Lottie. This is a brill idea. I'm glad you thought of it."

Evelyn put on her Nirvana shirt, jeans, and her lucky shoes. Evelyn walked around the hallways. She finally found the QQ. She had only been in there once before and she was glad she didn't get lost. Evelyn opened the door and stepped inside. She saw two girls already there talking to each other.

Evelyn walked up to the two girls nervously. "Hi, um i saw the posters so I decided to stop by" she said with a small smile. "I'm Evelyn Harper nice too meet you two" she said.

Brushing her hair from her eyes Gabriella walked into the Quality Quarters, she had seen a few posters around the school and thought to herself what did she have to lose? She'd probably end up making a few friends so that was always good. Seeing as she had no where eles to be as well. Looking around she saw four people and Gabriella smiled. Annasophia, Evee and what she was guessing was Sophie-Ann... something or rather and another girl.

She walked over to her close friends and the other girl and smiled as she tucked her hair behind her ear yet again. "Hey," she said friendly as she grinned from ear to ear. "I'm Gabriella," she said, introducing herself to Sophie-Ann and the othr girl she did not know just yet. Extending her hand waiting for the girl's response.

"Oh! Hello Lottie!" she waved cheerfully as Charlotte walked in, "Nice to see you again! I guess we're going to get to know eachother a little more here, then?" she smiled cheerfully, glad to see a familiar face.

Soon, another girl introduced herself as Evelyn Harper, "Hello Evelyn! I'm AnnaSophia Thomas." she said, tipping her hat in a friendly, welcoming way. "It's a pleasure to meet you." she said, grinning.

"Hi Gabriella!" she sang, seeing one of her best friends, "Fancy seeing you here." she giggled, then she turned to Sophie-Ann to reply to her question.

Anna bit her lip, "Oh uhm... I don't drink coffee." she said, smiling sheepishly, "I prefer tea or hot chocolate." she laughed, "But it's not a problem, I don't need anything to drink, I pretty much came to make some new friends." she said, smiling widely. "But, yeah.. I think the coffee should have been a giveaway. Whoops!" she giggled.

"So... you're Sophie-Ann Foxworthy and you're in... what house exactly?" she asked, smiling as she adjusted her hat and her messenger bag with it's many colourful buttons on it. She didn't really go anywhere without her hat or her bag, she grew up with both. They were the only things that her Uncle had given her that he said belonged to his sister. She smiled as she quickly rummaged through her bag and pulled out an unharmed lily.

"I got this for you." she said, extending it, "When I saw the poster, I went out to the lake and they had a few lilies on the ground. This was the best one I could find." she said, smiling.

Now folks had started arriving, Sophie-Ann decided to pour out several mugs full of coffee, and then the girls could choose for themselves whether to add milk or sugar, and how much. When she got to the end of the line, Sophie-Ann replaced the kettle on its stand, and smiled as it magically refilled itself. She grabbed a pink mug, being careful not to spill any of it on her favourite red hoodie, and added a little milk and one sugar.

The other girls seemed to have started talking easily enough. Likely a couple of them, at least, were from the same house? 'I'm in Gryffindor,' Sophie said to AnnaSophia. "Pleased to meet you, Gabriella," she said to the other girl who had introduced herself to Soph. "How is everyone?"

Before she knew it, more girls began arriving. This was going to be more fun than she thought. It would be a proper party and they'd all have fun, or so she hoped. Smiling at the girl who arrived first, she said, "Hello, Evelyn. I'm Lottie. Do you have any nicknames?" She looked at the girl, interested by her fashion sense. It was a very good style, and she was particularly interested because she was very into fashion and designing her own clothes.

Just then, another girl came inside the Quality Quarters. She seemed pretty friendly. "Hi, Gabriella. My name's Lottie. Well, it's actually Charlotte, but I go by Lottie most of the time." Smiling at AnnaSophia, she was glad she seemed to be happy to see her. "Yep! Since we're in the same house and year, I'm guessing we'll see quite a bit of one another."

Looking at AnnaSophia and Sophie-Ann, she smiled, listening to their conversation, since they were all here to talk to everyone else, so she guessed it was going to be like a big group chat. She was also amused by the fact that AnnaSophia and Sophie-Ann had names that were almost the same as one another, but backwards! How odd.

Seeing Sophie-Ann set out cups of coffee, she smiled and took one of the mugs. Putting some milk and sugar in, which she normally wouldn't do, she sipped the hot beverage and smiled with a happy sigh. "This tastes wonderful. Thanks, Sophie-Ann."

Faye had spotted a poster mentioning the Quality Quarters, and decided it was time she made some friends. She lacked them, not counting the wonderful mister Sev of course. When she walked in, she noticed a bunch of girls talking and walked over to them with a surprisingly confident smile. "Hi, I'm Faye." she introduced herself before taking a cup of coffee and adding the right amount of milk and sugar. "Mmm. It's been forever since I've had a decent cup of coffee." she said as she took a sip. "So, what house is everyone in? I'm Gryffindor."

"Snap," said Sophie-Ann, happily. It was always good to meet another girl from your own house. "Feel free to help yourself to a cuppa!" she continued, in a welcoming tone. Soph took a big sip from her own mug, and recoiled slightly, as the brown liquid inside was still very hot indeed, coming very close to spurting coffee everywhere.

"So, uh, is everyone going to this Halloween dance thingymebob that's coming up?" she asked.

She grinned at Sophie-Ann and held her cup up as in toast before taking a sip. Coffee was her favorite drink, no question about it. At the mention of the dance, Faye flushed slightly but her grin grew wider and she nodded. "Yeah, I'm going. I'm so excited! I wonder how many people are going.." she gushed before taking another sip of her coffee.

Just then Emma Winters walked into the room, wearing her Muggle jeans and a snug shirt. "Hey!" she said, to everyone, and took a seat near AnnaSophia.

Emma had seen the posters and decided that if someone had taken the time to put them up, she would take the time to meet them. "I'm Emma Winters," she said, introducing herself.

"Hi Lotte," Gabriella said with a smile as she too, took a cup from the many there and filled it with coffee. She wondered how exactly she was supposed to remember everyone's name as there were quite a few there but she figured she'd remember well enough and if not, then she'd just ask Annasophia or something what their names were.

Gabriella never really was a coffee person but she might as well drink it, it was only one night. Putting in a lot of sugar and milk she took a sip, almost burning her tongue in the procees so she set her cup down to give it some time to cool off. "I'm in Mihael," Gabriella replied to the girl, Faye was her name... or at least that's what Gabriella thought it was. "Oh, I am too!" she exclaimed happily, to Sophie-Anna's question about the halloween ball. There was so much going on it was hard for Gabriella to keep track of it all.

Turning around as she heard another girl enter, Gabriella smiled to her. "Hi Emma, I'm Gabriella," she said with a smile, introducing herself to the girl.

Anna listened as another girl came in and introduced herself as Faye Divine, first year Gryffindor. Anna answered the question about houses, "First year Mihael." she said cheerfully, grinning as she continued to listen intently. Soon, the conversation had moved onto the Halloween dance. Everyone else said they were going and just as Anna opened her mouth to reply, Emma aka. A best friend for life [yay!] arrived and sat right beside her.

Anna smiled warmly as Gabriella introduced herself to Emma. Two best friends were meeting, this was a nice sight to see for AnnaSophia. "About that dance... yeah. I'm going to." she winked at Gabriella, remembering that conversation about what dances really were at the park a day or two ago. "So... uherm... let's see... where's everyone from?" she asked, smiling happily as she finally opened the conversation again.

Emma smiled warmly at the girl who had introduced herself. "Hey Gabriella, nice to meet you."

She turned to Anna as she asked where everyone was from. "Well let's see, my mommy and daddy loved each other so much," she saw the alarmed look on her best friend's face and laughed. "I'm just kidding!! I'm from the U. S., around Philadelphia. How 'bout you?"

"Nice to meet you too" she said to AnnaSophia. She waved to Gabriella as Gabriella walked into the room. Evelyn then turned to Lottie. "Some of my friends call me Evee" she said with a grin. Evelyn waved to the people who has just walked in.

"Londoner most of my life," Sophie responded to the question about where girls came from. "Though I lived in Australia for several years, during the last wizarding war," she added, her voice betraying more than a hint of the accent she had acquired whilst out there.

"Is anyone else going to the ball stag?" she asked, a subject that had been bugging her. Sophie-Ann had no desire to show up to the dance on the arm of some guy she barely knew, but she wasn't planning to miss out altogether.

Elizabeth looked in the mirror as she finsihed doing her hair and make up. She had just walked out of the shower, and had decided to put her hair in a ponytail, scrunching what was left down, and straightened her side bangs. Sure, Eliabeth was only eleven years old, but she sure new alot about makeup. She had been watching her foster-mother do her makeup one day and Elizabeth decided to try it out. She liked what she saw and continued to do that everyday. Sometimes she tried out new colours to find she looked awfully good in them, or so she thought anyhow.

Elizabeth had worn a blue mini skirt and a black tank top. Yes, she despised muggles, but couldn't help but take a liking to their style of clothing. After making sure she looked good, Elizabeth walked back into her room, threw everything onto her bed and walked out. She was on her way to some kind of get together with all the first year girls. She hadn't actually considered going, because a party without boys just wasn't a party in Elizabeth's opinion. But then her friend Gabriella mentioned it, and she gave the idea some thought.

With a sigh, she pushed through the entrance of the Quality Quarters and looked around. Everywhere she looked there were girls. Ughh this is going to be a long night. Elizabeth thought to herself with a groan. She pressed a hand to her forehead and furrowed her brow. This place needed some good music, and some people from the different gender. Whoever set this up cannot be straight. She shook her head slightly and walked over to the refreshments table where she grabbed a butterbeer and a cookie. Standing by the table Elizabeth looked around the room. There was gabby, talking to all her friends. So Elizabeth just stood there, and waited for someone else to notice her. Hopefully it wouldn't be someone she would loath talking to

Emma was glancing around the room when she saw another first year standing a little to the side. Picking up her hot cocoa, she made her way over.

"Hey!" she said, smiling brightly. "I'm Emma Winters, first year Hufflepuff." Glancing at the girls outfit, she just had to grin. "I love your outfit!" she glanced down at her own jeans and snug tee and shrugged. Hey, it may be not as cool but I love it anyways.

"You should do layers sometime, maybe add in a lighter color, that'd be cool. How do you like it here so far at Trio's Hogwarts?"
