Hot chocolate & Marshmallows [open]

A soft meow was to be heard in the Quality Quarters, as a young girl and her black cat curled upon the sofa. Staring into the fireplace, the soft blaze of the fire reflecting in the girl's soft blue orbs. On the side table was a mug of hot chocolate and some marshmallows. Along with some mugs in case someone wanted to join her. The day seemed long, looking down at her watch reading 5:45pm. She wondered where her friends was, and wondering what they was up to. Classes over,seeming endless.

Alessa looked stressed, for she had allot under her belt. She couldn't stop thinking about everything that had happened to her these past couple months. Dezi cheating on her, her realizing that the one person she loved with all her heart at the last min. Maybe it was a little too late. To relieve her feelings to him the way that she did. Maybe she scared him off. She hadn't really talked to him cept for in classes. And he didn't even speak to her.

Looking down at her cat, Darius. As he laid curled up in a ball, purring away. With no care in the world, he had no worries about love, or life. Just the life of being a cat, playing all day, sleeping, eating. She smiled softly down at him, stroking his ear.

She wished sometimes her life was as easy as the life of a cat. Then maybe she wouldn't haft to go threw so much heart ache. She lost allot, but also gained allot. There was a plus in it. Even with the heart ache with coming to this school. She made allot of friends, and matured allot. Soft sigh escaped her lips after she popped a marshmallow in her mouth. Looking down at her cat she cuddled him close to her, feeling her eyelids close shut. As she tried so hard to gather her thoughts and try hard not to think about how much she longed for him.

<sup>Classes had been long over. For the time he'd had alone, it had been spent in the Common Room. His eyes gazing upon old pictures of friends. Memories that had not been forgotten, by either him. Or those whom he had shared them with. Those times had been so long ago, but he didn't care. They had to be remembered, to keep him happy. To keep a smile plastered on his broken face. His lost, and confused face. A lover had gone, and perhaps he was falling again. It was not for him to know quite yet. But one day in the future a wise friend would inform him if the feelings he felt were true, or just on the rebound. That was not yet. Not even soon. Just someday, when he was old and alone. He couldn't take the chance, incase he hurt someone. He didn't want too. Never.

There was nothing left in staying in the common room. To stay cheerful, he needed to find friends. Friends of which he could talk too and share things with. Of his day and of other things. He smiled, his finger tracing the final picture he stared at. Kelly Locend. How he missed her, but nothing could be done. She had gone, as had their relationship. She was never to be forgotten, for he loved her always in his heart. Gerard needed to move on. Sometime soon, before he drove himself insane.

And so the boy walked alone, his hair had fallen neatly over his eyes. A hand now in his jean pocket. He was not too know a friend was spending their time in the Quality Quarters. He wasn't too know a new friend sat with their cat, with a mug of Hot Chocolate on the side-table. But he wouldn't know until he had arrived. Arrived in the doorway, and seen Alessa sitting there. Oh, but that was where he was now. Two eyes gazing at the girl. Her cat cuddled up to her. A soft sigh left his mouth, she looked ever so peaceful on the chair. Awh. But he couldn't dwardle in the doorway forever, he needed to speak to Missus Gillespie.

"I didn't expect to see you again, so soon."

He didn't mind, since she was a pleasure to speak too. Smiling softly, his feet carried him towards the chairs near the fireplace. His clothed-self, sitting down on the chair beside her. Blue orbs remained on her, she looked quite wonderful in the fire light. "How have you been?"</sup>

Not realizing that someone had walked into the room with her, until her cat meowed up at the boy that had walked in. Looking up to see who had entered she smiled seeing that it was her new friend, Gerard. She was quite happy to see him in fact. For she was thinking about him for a moment. He slipped into her mind. "I didn't expect to see you again, so soon." she smiled up at him and shrugged her shoulders as she petted her cat that was back asleep on her lap. Purring loudly away.

"Same, but glad to see you the same" She said with a soft smile, her blue orbs looking over at him, as he sat down beside her. She was glad that she was starting to make new friends again. For term can get pretty lonely when you are alone. Even though she did have her cat for company.

"How have you been?" Alessa shrugged her shoulders slightly. "Ive been alright I guess." She said as she broke eye contact with him to look down at her cat once more. "I'm not myself though to be honest. Just my thoughts are all confused and I don't know anything anymore" She said honestly, feeling like she could sort of open up with him. Tell him how she was feeling. Like he would understand her. Maybe he would, or maybe he wouldn't. Alessa took that risk.

<sup>Alessa was ... He couldn't explain. But she most certainly had an effect on him. Gerard wanted her to know he was there. There to be a shoulder to cry on, or to speak to her in darkest moments. You could call him a gentleman, and you could be correct. He was. For he was pleased to help people. Friends or family. Those that were there, and that needed him - he would help.

"I'm also glad. Seeing you has made my day." The Slytherin chuckled, but not making a joke however. Gerard honestly meant it, she had indeed made his day. When did a friend not make his day? Never. They were all special to him. All amazing in some special way. He loved them so much. Because friends made his life worth something. Worth to live. Breathe the air so many others breathed. Walk the soil that others walked upon every single day. It was because of friends he felt he could do all these things. Because of friends that he was here today. Without friends, was there much point to life?

So depressing, but they had to be thought. They just had too. He pushed them away though. To the back of his mind. So he could listen to Alessa. As she spoke of how she was. But she wasn't okay. Far from it from what he had heard. He felt for her. It had been last time they had met, that he knew something was happening to her. Something had hurt her. His instincts had been right, but it was now he could comfort her. He took her hand in his and held it softly. Wanting to say something that would help her perhaps. "I'm here for you. I understand what it is like to feel like you're not yourself. And to be so confused about everything. I'm here, and I'll never stop listening to what you need to say. You can tell me, If you want, what is bothering you. I'll do my best to help you Alessa." And just maybe those words had found comfort within her. Maybe they had helped in some way.

Alessa didn't know why she was being so trusting with him. For she barley knew him. She didn't know that he would go blab to the world her feeling. Or any of the sorts. She just felt right with him. As he friend, like she always knew him. It was a strange feeling inside of her chest. But she felt it. And it felt right.

Looking at him, as he took her hand in his own. She gave him a small smile. "I'm here for you. I understand what it is like to feel like you're not yourself. And to be so confused about everything. I'm here, and I'll never stop listening to what you need to say. You can tell me, If you want, what is bothering you. I'll do my best to help you Alessa." Alessa nodded her head and then closed her bright blue orbs and thought to herself for a moment.

Looking up toward him again, she decided to really tell him what was on her mind. "Its just.." She began. "There is the guy that I met. We became very close friends, best friends actualy.." She stopped and as she brought her free hand to brush her hair out of her face. "Just recently I realized that Ive been dating the wrong people. When right in front of my face was him the whole time. It was him who I loved. I told him how i felt about 2 weeks ago. And I haven't talked to him yet..."

She closed her eyes remembering that she had seen his name with another girl's date for the dance. And not just any girl, it was Xiomara's. She wasn't quite sure about her. She heard things about her. That she didn't like. But this was Nathaniel. The love of her life. "Hes going to the dance with someone else..I don't know what to think about that. Maybe I'm over thinking things. I plan on going to the dance with my friends, I have no date. No one wanted me I guess" she said adding a sigh. Wow Alessa, she was being a drama queen. She just hoped she didn't scare her new friend away with her being so emotional.

"Just tell me when to shut up.." She said now covering her face with her one hand, closing her eyes. "I just don't know what to do.." She said feeling tears swell up in her beautiful orbs.

<sup>Gerard kept their hands enclosed. She had decided to trust him (she had no reason too, but she did) and spoke. Spoke of her feelings. What was bothering her. And Gerard listened. Always listened.

A guy - her best friend. She loved him. She had told him how she felt. But had not seen her since then. Ger gave a soft smile. Love. Love to him, was one of the hardest things ever. To fall for your best friend, was even harder. But even so, you could not help feelings. They happened. They came, and they went. Out of control sometimes. But it was love. "You should talk to him. You both need to talk. What did he say when you told him?" Had he said he loved her back? Or said nothing? That would be harsh, but he could've been speechless. More reason for Alessa to talk to this young man.

The Halloween Ball. So many were paired. A few not. But her love, he was going with another. That must've hurt her. After all, it would've hurt him. Perhaps killed him inside. Broken his heart. But Alessa was likely stronger than him. She could deal with it. But could she? Was she actually breaking down, but no one could see it. Maybe she was. She had spoke of no one wanting to attend the ball with her. "Awh, that is not true. I would've gone with you, but I already have a partner." Ger gave a soft smile. He would've. They seemed to be good friends already. A dance would be quite magical.

"I don't want you to shut up. I want you to speak. Tell me what is bothering you. I care."

Yes, he did. She needed to let her feelings out. Speak from her heart, as she had done so, so far. She needn't be quiet. Gerard didn't want that. Never.</sup>

Alessa felt her own hand squeeze Gerard's hand a little. As she felt more tears swell up in her eyes. She held it back. For she wouldn't cry. No, she wouldn't cry. As she explained to him how she was feeling. She listened to what he had to say. "You should talk to him. You both need to talk. What did he say when you told him?" Alessa nodded and pulled her hand away looking up at him. "I know i need to.."

She sighed softly, looking away. For she didn't want to give him eye contact for a moment. She didn't want him to see the pain in her eyes. That she knew that even though he couldn't get eye contact. Her eyes still shown pain. For she truly loved Nathaniel. She just didn't know what to do.

She looked up at him, after telling him to shut her up, if he wanted to."I don't want you to shut up. I want you to speak. Tell me what is bothering you. I care." She gave his hand another squeeze. "Thanks..." She said with a smile on her face. This time a little true. "Thanks for being here for me. I know we just met. But it just feels like I known you forever. Your a very good friend. I don't know what Id do if you wasn't here with me right now. I've been threw so much. I don't know how much more i can handle. But then theres you, you been threw allot to. But looks like your doing fine now..."

She closed her eyes and brought her legs up to her chest. Resting her chin on her knees. She looked over at him. "Though even though your here with me right now. I still feel so confused, so lost. I don't know what to think... Just please don't leave my side for a while Gerard. For I really need you right now.."

<sup>The Slytherin nodded slowly. At least she agreed. "Write to him. Ask to meet somewhere and just talk. Talk about the two of you, and perhaps something good will come out of it." With his free hand. He brushed hair from his eyes.

It did seem as though they had known each other forever. The both of them were friends. Good friends. You see. Gerard had known her a few days - but he cared for her. Wanted her to smile again. And be okay. That was all he truelly wanted this day. Ger stroked her cheek. Bowing his head slightly. Oh yes. Gerard had been through a lot. You could say he was doing okay now. But the pain remained. However he'd learnt to live through it. Because he could. He had to be strong. He had to be okay. "Mhhm. I guess I just kept strong. Kept on believing, everything would be okay. That is what kept be going. Believing." A sigh left his pressed lips. Alessa needed to believe. To be happy. With this young man she loved.

"I won't leave your side," a small smile "I promise." Oh, for he did. Gerard had no wish to leave. He wanted to stay beside her. As long as she needed. Ger kissed her head softly. To comfort her. "I promise you I'll always be here for you."</sup> His friend. Alessa. She was so special. She needed to be happy again.
