An opening game that will be in memories everywhere for years to come.
Last thursday I attended the opening game for the Quidditch World Cup.
As many of you know the start of the Cup opened with the Chudley Cannons playing the Irish Clovers. As the game started it was instantly a game that may have gone on forever.
The Irish Clovers gained control of the quaffle almost immediately and flew straight for the goal. As the Irish chaser approached the Cannon goal, the Chudley Cannons chasers, Magy Williams, John Andrews, and Clara Benings- in flawless form- formed a triangle around the Irish chaser, Rosey Ohera.
Ohera couldnt hold the quaffle with the other chasers grabbing at it; and in the group of green and orange robes, the quaffle fell and was caught by the Cannons. The first shot was made by John Andrews when the Irish keeper Will Gradey was tricked into going left while the chaser went right.
Now if this wasnt a great start to the cannons then it was the seekers. What seemed like hours after the first goal the Irish Seaker Seamus Finnigan dove into a verticle plunge. He had gone no further than 10 feet when the Cannons seeker Eathan Smith had caught up. It was a race to the snitch that lasted only a few seconds. The Cannon's seeker was hit by a bludger from Alice Grant, Irish beater, which was just enough power to slow the Cannon's seeker; thus allowing Seamus to grab the snitch before he hit the ground.
Pulling up, he held the snitch out and earned his team 150 points making the final score Clovers 360, Cannons 310. Ireland wins the first game of the season.
So there you have it;1 game down and Ireland is in the lead 1-0.
