The fleece was pulled closer to the figures body as they moved out the main doors and into the cold night. Shivering slightly the slender figure made their way to wards one of the towers, most likely the owlery. The brown hair of the figure flew out behind them as the slight wind sent a chilling shiver down their spine.
Finally at the tower Munelisa Vincine began to climb the steep cold stairs to wards the top. Clutched in the girls hands were many letters and parcels, some that had just arrived and other that were just about to be sent out. A small hand reached out for the door at the top of the owlery and pushed it open with a hard shove.
Munelisa turned and closed the door quickly behind her, it was a little warmer up in the small room. Her brown eyes scanned the rows of owls for one of the school birds, one that would be able to make it all the way back home to Ireland.
"Hey birdie. Do me a favor on the day I turn fourteen?" She asked one of the school birds holding out her hand with a small treat in the palm of her hand. The brown owl looked tempted, eying the treat and moving its body in jerky movements. Finally when Munelisa was on her tippy toes did the bird jump into her hand.
"Thank you.." Mun said as she tied two letters to the birds leg, one for her uncle and one for her mother.. if she came home long enough to read it. Bringing the bird to the open window the Mihael gave the bird a small push into the air and watched it fly out of sight. With a heavy sigh the girl pulled all three parcels out of her pocket, then placed the one in her hand carefully on the ground. The now fourteen year old looked up at the owls who were watching her cautiously, and grinned slightly. Munelisa lowered herself to the ground, looking at the parcels on the ground, picking one up she looked at it.
"Hey.. Owls. Do you mind me celebrating my birthday with you?" She asked the birds, "I do not have anyone else to celebrate it with.." Before even picking at the brown paper that covered her small present she waited for a reply from the feathery creatures.
