"Aaah~!" I screamed as I crashed face-first into the frozen grass of the Quidditch pitch. I lay still on the cold ground, throbbing in pain as I wondered what had possessed me to do this. I lifted my head up slightly, the old cleansweep broom I had "borrowed" from the supply rooms lay innocently beside me- but otherwise I was completely alone. Thank goodness. I groaned, rolling onto my back and staring up at the sky. My body felt like one huge bruise. What did I expect anyways? Me being a muggle-born with zero flight experience. I could hardly coax the stupid broom off the ground much less control it. For the billionth time in the past thirty minutes I wished I hadn't missed the first flying lessons. Boy, I sure could've needed that guidance right about now. I glared down at the broom by my side.
"It's all your fault. If you would've listened to me we wouldn't have crashed." I said almost matter-of-factly, hey there was no one around to see me, I might as well talk to the broom. I stood, sweeping a little grass off my hopelessly stained jeans, thanking whoever invented durable denim. I squared my shoulders as zipped up my sweatshirt, okay no more mr. nice guy.
"Okay broom, you're gonna fly for me and you're gonna like it." I scooped the broom up and mounted it in one graceful move. That was about the only graceful thing I'd done all day I supposed. I clutched the handle of the broom tightly, locking my arms as I pushed off into the air. My stomach did cartwheels as I flew about thirty feet into the air, I was flying! I cried out with excitement- this was what kept me trying, the sudden andreline rush that you got when you lifted off. I tried for a lap around the pitch, my confidence booming, I could do this! This was easy! I thought too soon as my broom suddenly made a dive for the worse and brought me to fall down twenty feet to land oh-so-gracefully on my butt.
"Blasted Broomstick!" I swore at the once again innocent looking broom that lay a few feet away. I needed a teacher- and badly.
