Drowning in imperfection

The feeling of abandonment. She knew it well, and yet did not expect to find it at Hogwarts, yet alone at the lake. When was the last time she had been here? Who knew. It had been long ago. A sigh escaped her pink lips as her hands found their way into her dark jeans pockets. Fall was officially upon them, for which she was grateful. She was unsure of how much longer she could stand the sun's heated rays. Odd, coming from someone who grew up on a lonely beach. Odd indeed.

Green orbs scanned around the empty grounds. Not many students were about today. Too bad. She had been hoping to get to know some of the younger students, seeing as she had failed to do so along with many other of things. She sighed in defeat and began to make her way toward the lake. The crunching of the grass was the only sound as she headed in the direction of the massive lake at a steady pace. Her mind was far from her destination so when she looked up she was surprised to be brought to the sandy beach of the vast lake in what seemed like such a short amount of time.

The Mihael stood there, motionless, as the wind cut through the choppy waters. Ripples glided along the surface until they crashed along the banks of the chilly lake. She didn't know how long she stood there. Simply standing in thought. A while apparently, for when she looked up from her thoughts once more, the sun had fallen from it's position when she arrived.

Where was everyone? She pulled her black jacket tighter around her as another gust of wind passed her by, sending her hair flying into her eyes. Making a mental note to get her long hair cut the next chance she got, she sat down on the sand, leaning back and bracing herself with her hands. It wasn't what she wanted to do for the rest of the afternoon but it would do. The sixth year began to hum a random tune. She loved music more than anything so she figured that it would assist her in passing the bland time. Her green eyes slid shut as her foot began to tap the the rhythm, a smile flickering to life across her lips.
