Being a new university, some things are definitely different. Here's how Trio's Hogwarts works as a university. This is copyright to Britt, the creator of Trio's Hogwarts.
Section 1: Terms
Terms are now four (4) months long since there are fewer of them. This is also equal to a full semester at a real university, which adds to the reality of the site. Due to the longer term, term breaks are also longer.
Term breaks will be three (3) weeks long now. The Hogwarts boards will be unavailable for the first two (2) weeks. The third week allows students to get reacquainted with the grounds and the professors to prepare for the new term at the school.
The first term for the university will begin on January 8, 2008.
Section 2: Classes
Each pathway has a grouping of classes that must be completed to pass through to get credit for that pathway. The named classes are required. An elective is any non-required class.
Since there are only two terms required for graduation, professors are required to have two (2) sets of lesson plans. One for first term students and another for second term students.
Students can take up to only six (6) classes per term.
Section 3: Pathways
Pathways are ever-changing. Popular pathways will tend to stick around, but if a pathway isn't successful it will be moved and swapped out.
Pathways can be suggested at any time. However, to suggest one, there must be a specific reason for it, and classes already arranged. If you feel that there needs to be a class for it not available, then you must include a synopsis of the suggested class.
The "Undecided" pathway is only good for the first term. Afterwards, students must choose a specific path or go out into the wizarding world without graduating.
If a student wishes, they can change their pathway at the end of term. With exception to the Undecided pathway, changing a pathway will result in starting at first term again.
After graduating, students are required to get a job. Whether it's in their pathway field or not is up to them. The benefits from their field only work on the selected job.
Adults are allowed to re-enroll at the university level after a one term break, but you must leave your job to do so.
Section 4:
If there's something you'd like to know about how the university works, please PM me so it can be included here.
