This hallway was very familiar to Tristan Clarke. The law enforcement and the lawyers were intertwined in this legal system. The aurors caught the bad guys and the lawyers tried to prove them guilty. It was a never ending cycle involving cooperation between the two parties. That was why Tristan had come to realize that he spent more time up on this floor than he did in his own office. The aurors were the ones who were prime witnesses in cases and therefore were important people to talk to.
As Tristan had been working here for over a year, he was moving up in cases, having more difficult and, in Tristan's opinion, more interesting cases. Still, they had yet to be as huge as the murder cases he used to have to work with in Greece. He had always fought harder for the innocent victim because he had been in that place before. When Rachael died mysteriously, all eyes had turned to Tristan and he had to stand before the jury and convince them all of his innocence. Now, he wanted to work on the other side, helping those innocent souls as they stood before the jury. However, he had not dealt with a murder case since coming to London yet.
Instead, he was coming to the aurors' office with a stack of paperwork in his hand involving a petty crime. Someone had tried to break into the Ministry and the aurors were the first to stop him and get him out of there. Unfortunately, though Tristan knew that the man was not innocent, he had been assigned to be this man's lawyer and try to figure out some way to convince the jury of his innocence. Getting any information from the aurors that would be helpful in this case was going to be difficult.
Knocking quietly on the door, Tristan stood back, waiting for any of the aurors to respond.
