As Kelly Evans apparated into Trio's Alley, a brisk breeze blew over her, making the witch stumble and almost fall. Her apparating skills had never been top-notch, and she scowled as a red blush crept up her cheeks. Obviously, her less-than-top-notch apparating skills were getting even worse, if a simple breeze can push her off course. A little shaken but still determined, Kelly shook her head and brushed down her clothing, stepping into the Magical Menagerie.
Almost immediately, her senses were assaulted by the sights, smells and sounds of the various magical and otherwise animals. She smiled to herself and petted an adorable little kitten that was suspended in a display cage as she passed it, moving further into the shop as she browsed. Ever since Kat had grown up and moved out, Kelly had been alone in her apartment, having to resort to talking to her reflection (which actually talked back, you know) for company. She had friends, of course, but the nights were long, and they got awful lonely.
So, Kelly had decided to get a pet. She had ruled out birds (was deathly afraid of them), mice (she was definitely a girl when it came to rodents in the house), and Blast-Ended Skrewts (that one was obvious). In the end, it came down to a simple decision between a dog and a cat. Mr. Jingles had been delightful, but Kat of course had taken her lovely cat down the hall to forever live in the crazy mini-manor of Buckett.
Kelly had never been allowed a pet when she was younger, except of course an owl, but she had been strictly for business, and so the witch didn't really know what to look for. The Menagerie appeared to be lacking in sales assistants, so Kelly kept at her own browsing, a slight frown on her face as she debated the pros and cons of both cats and dogs.
Dogs were definitely the better companion, or so she'd heard. They greeted you at the door, you could teach them tricks. They also required walking, which meant that Kelly could get back into exercise. Cats, on the other hand, were quite distant, selfish, and, in most cases, flat refused to learn tricks. "Much like the Kat i know," Kelly snickered quietly to herself, leaning, at this point, to a bundle of joy in the form of a puppy.
