Bring The Light Into Our Lives

The image of Ivy with her wand drawn at him kept appearing like a bad movie that repeatedly reeled behind his eye lids. He didn't want to admit that she really put him in this condition, but she did and he couldn't come up with an excuse. There was so much pain and turmoil going on with both his head and his heart. Ever since she lost her memory, Erik tried to help her remember him and the fact that they were having a child together. He could see in her eyes that nothing connected the dots. They were empty.

No emotion. No reaction. Nothing.

Weeks after her disappearance, he broke down. It was hard the next few months without any word from Ivy...until tonight. Everything changed within minutes and now he laid in a hospital bed after a few Healers worked on his life-threatening injuries. Erik had his arms, a leg, torso, and even his head wrapped in bandages. There was so much internal damage compared to his external, but it would take weeks until he was fully recovered. Fortunately, there wasn't any permanent damage done to his body. It was just his mind that would suffer the most from the incident.

Ivy.

His eyes fluttered open when a Healer came in to check his vitals. Erik could vaguely remember the screams and sobs from earlier. They were still ringing in his ears and the pressure of where Ivy had laid herself across his chest. He hoisted up in a sitting position, hissing from the searing pain, squinting his eyes and gasping louder. The Healer insisted on resting, but he refused. "Where is she? I'm not going to miss the birth of my child." Swinging his legs over the edge of the bed, he attempted to get up, but the Healer restrained him.

Erik was riled up already from what happened and right now he needed to be with his wife and child. "Take me there now. I don't give a damn! I just don't want to miss it!" He yelled while ripping out the IV's from his arms and trying again to get out of bed. His life didn't matter as long as he could see his child come into this world alive and healthy. After several exchanges of threats and cusswords, Erik was granted to go where Ivy was. The Healer rolled him into her room on a wheelchair and positioned Erik at the head of the bed where he could be there for her.

He looked at his wife and tried to calmly stay beside her throughout the birth. With mixed emotions, he had to separate his more troubling ones just for the rest of the night. "I'm here with you..." He told her reassuringly, grabbing for her hand and holding it firmly in his. However, there's no telling how things will go after the birth. Erik didn't know if she was still the woman from earlier who attacked him, or the Ivy he still loves and cherishes so much.

Time could only tell. Time could only mend the heart.

She screamed and she pushed. Pushed despite everything in her head telling her not to. Despite being only 7months pregnant...something wasn't right and she knew exactly what it was ...Erik wasn't there. Tears welled in her eyes as her heart cried for him. The last time she'd seen him was when Jacques was taking him away from the her at the park. Since then she'd heard nothing on his condition. With every breath she could muster, Ivy pleaded with the nurse to bring him to her but all they said was to concentrate and breath.

As the contractions grew closer and closer, Ivy's heart began to brake. They had not brought Erik in and she would have to deliver their child without him. Then as she pushed her head heavily back into the pillow, convinced Erik was too injured to come, her hopes were lifted as a very battered and exhausted Erik was wheeled into the room. Their eyes connected instantly and he reached out to take her hand. Leaning forward she took it quickly and squeezed hard. There was so much she wanted to say but another contraction began and Ivy was thrown back into her bed. ...

That was a few hours ago, and now Ivy stood dressed in a very stylish hospital gown, looking very much the question of concern as she gazed helplessly at the tiny figure of her 7 month old daughter. She was hooked up to an incubator, a mask covered her little face and wires seemed to poke every side of her.

Hesitantly Ivy reached for her but quickly withdrew, she wasn't able to touch her. She hadn't touched her, hadn't even held her yet. The nurses had rushed her out as soon as she was out and Ivy barely had time register that her baby was a girl. She was too early and unable to control her temperature or suckle for nutrition. For someone she'd never met, barely knew, it simply broke Ivy's heart to see her child in this condition. What had she done? Despite being unable to remember, this was clearly all her fault.

Ashamed, Ivy began to tear up again. She needed to see Erik and explain but what would she say? He'd been taken out of her room so fast that she was barely able to mutter his name. None of the past 24hours made any sense. She wish she could remember but anything that remotely took shape in her mind made no sense what so ever. As far as Ivy could remember was all she wanted to do was hurt Erik and Straw. Such strong evil feelings had run through her veins as evil spells formed upon her lips as she pointed her wand at her husbands chest..

When their hands touched, he could feel the electricity between them ignite. Before when she had no memory, she was distant and cold. Her touch merely had any connection with him. It tore at his heart and made him sick to his stomach. But for the first time in months, there was clarity in his mind as they held hands throughout the process of her birth. Erik was scared as hell because she had only been pregnant for seven months. Their baby's life was in danger for being born prematurely. It would be a miracle if their baby made it through.

Finally after a long, strenuous period of Ivy screaming in pain and the baby being born, he was able to take a glimpse of her...his daughter. But it wasn't long before they had taken her away and him out of the room. Something was obviously wrong and his heart ached so much. He felt sick to his stomach again, worsening as he stressed about the healthy of his daughter. Was there any hope left? Why did bad things happen to good people? He prayed and kept praying in the corner of his room that something...anything would happen to help their baby.

He felt that he should be next to Ivy, leaving aside his bitter feelings about the incident that happened before. She returned to him and that's what mattered the most. If she refused him while he was in the room when giving birth, obviously she wasn't his Ivy. They had a lot to talk about, but right now wasn't the time for discussing the past. The present is important and the life of their daughter. He asked the healers if he could be wheeled back to her room, pleading that he needs to be there to support her during this difficult time.

As he entered the room, he heard the last words she had spoken and he frowned slightly. "I think it's best you don't look back at what you've done. You weren't you Ivy. I know you wouldn't hurt me purposely," he spoke as he approached her in his wheelchair. "It'll take awhile, but no matter what Ivy...I still love you and right now we need each other to get through this." He fought back tears as he looked up at his wife. She must be in as much pain as him, if not, probably more. Clearing his throat, he decided to focus their attention back to the baby. "Do you have a name for her yet?"

She couldn't hold it in any longer. Seeing Erik, in a wheel chair looking a mess of cuts and bruises, a result from her own doing. Tears welled in her eyes as she took him all in and she allowed them to fall as he spoke to her. After everything she'd done to him, everything she'd put him through here, he was loving her with all his heart like nothing had ever happened. She didn't deserve this and neither did Erik.

Breaking down, Ivy's knees buckled and as her chest pounds, a silent scream explodes inside her. Her body begins to shake and she can't control it. Her lower lips begin to tremble and she falls to the ground. "Erik..," she's lost and confused. She can't remember anything but knows it was her who had hurt him. How many had she hurt? The last several months were a blur, a blackness that terrified her. She couldn't remember anything. Who was to say she hadn't done this to several other people? And if so how far had she gone?

Falling onto his lap Ivy weeps. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry," Ivy's fingers cling tightly to his legs. "I didn't mean to.." And she holds herself to him, too scared to face the world any longer. "I love you so much" a freeing sensation taking over her being with ever sob. Her whole body tingled and she was frightened, Frightened by what would happen when he touched her, held her, kissed her like she craved to be.
