2nd years - Lesson 2 [Mandrakes/Abyss. Shriv.]

His first class for the day wasn't that bad. It was a breath of fresh air to teach different plants to different students. Timothy was enjoying his morning as he watched his first years leave to their next class. During this time, he cleaned up his desk to get ready for his next set of students, second years.

The clock chimed nine-fifteen, which students should be arrive pretty soon, since he would start at nine-ten. Scurrying around his classroom, he went to the board to write down the second year's plants for the day: Mandrakes and Abyssinian Shrivelfigs. Dusting his hands off, Timothy scrounged around for supplies like dragon-hyde gloves, droppers, fresh new top soil and pots, some dragon blood, and clippers.

"Whew.. things never get easier." He muttered to himself as he walked back to the front of his desk and leaned against the front, enjoying the cool breeze blowing through the door. Now all he needed was the students to arrive.

Avery sighed as he walked to Herbology. He made his way through the wave of first years running from the greenhouses, all like mad little rats. No, Avery shouldn't think like that; after all, he was a first year once. Gulping, he thought about what he was going to say to Miss Kohn. She was such a strict teacher, and he had made a vow a while ago that he was going to try to befriend her, try to make it past that rough, exterior that she had on.

When he walked into the greenhouse, however, he was shocked to see the Herbology Professor near the front of his desk. Did Avery walk into the wrong greenhouse? No, no, this was definitely it. He remembered his previous class all too well. 'There was where that girl had spat her fingernails on the floor,' Avery thought, looking around. He sat down at a seat near the front of the greenhouse. "Er, hi!" he said nervously to the Professor. 'You really could use a Socializing 101 class,' his conscious hissed at him. "What happened to Miss Kohn? Is she sick?"

A class he wasn't late to. A miracle.

The fresh air was a welcome contrast from the stuffy, dusty atmosphere inside the castle although the sunlight burned his eyes. Oh well, he would have to deal.

His black and navy cloak swished behind him as he walked (the coat tendrils of DOOM!), his arms cradling his books and supplies like they were a baby. As he should. Supplies can be expensive some times!

Entering the greenhouse, he saw the teacher and a Hufflepuff boy. 'Cannon fodder,' he thought. "Hello, Professor," Gaara greeted, nodding in greeting. He then proceeded to take a seat. SO far, so good. He wasn't late, nothing was stirring in his psyche, and it was a beautiful day.

He was scared. None of these things came unless something bad was to happen later.

Sliding into class, the brown haired Mihael boy entered with a smile. He had missed the first Herbology lesson of last term, but still. At least he had made an effort to come to this one. A smile appeared on his face, since he had heard the teaching assistant the last time had been a horror. When he entered, it was rather Professor Linn, the Herbology Professor. Not the TA. Phew, he was spared the horror, or whatever horror others had said to him.

'Morning.' Surprisingly he wasn't tired when he had said that. Nine o' clock was a good time for him, he was wide awake by then. Of course, if the class had been somewhere such as the dungeons, Brendan doubted he would be able to stay awake because of the environment.

Herbology. A class Liyah liked only because she could stick her fingers into the dirt. She was allowed to be dirty, something she never would have experienced had she gone to her muggle school in Ireland. She wondered what they were doing now. Probably talking about all that they did over the summer and laughing a poor Aaliyah who had to go to summer classes for her 'new school.' Aaliyah had wished dearly to tell her best friend back home about Hogwarts, but she was not sure if it was safe to do so. The wizarding world always kept itself hidden and Aaliyah had to follow suit.

Liyah was so lost in her day dreams that she did not realize that the door to the greenhouses was right in front of her. Nor did she realize that the door was closed. "Ow!" Aaliyah cried, rubbing her forehead where it came in contact with the glass. She frowned, opened the door and came in. She sat down next to Avery not saying a word and put her head down. The sudden headache was not as bad as the embarassment she was dealing with as 3 members of her year plus a teacher saw her run into a glass door.

Troy was making his way towards his Herbology class, he had m issed the first lesson so this was his very first Herbology lesson of the year and he wondered what it would be like.

As he came across the door to the classroom he noticed a little crack in the glass, 'that looks like it's just happened' he thought and he opened the door and walked into the classroom.

As he made his way to a desk he saw Liyah sitting with her head down sitting next to a Hufflepuff boy who he had seen before but didn't know his name.

"Hey Liyah" he said as he sat at a desk behind her, she seemed to be running her head and seemed a little embarressed.

Troy looked at the boy sitting next to her and nodded at him, he didn't really know him but he thought it would be rude to ignore him.

Herbology. A class that Vivian adored, but not only because she was good at it, but also because it taught her how to use various plants to make potions that could either heal or destroy. She walked into the classroom and immediately sat down next to Brendan. "'Ello, love." she said. She wasn't tired in the least, because she had received very good sleep the previous night. Besides, she was always excited to see Brendan.

Aaliyah looked up slightly, trying to cover the small bump on her head with her bangs. "Hey, Troy," she said quickly before putting her head back down. She didn't mean to be rude. She just didn't want any questions asked about what could have possibly happened to her. And especially the reason why she ran into a glass door.

She sighed and pretended to be napping. Perhaps that was the best way to hide her embarassment. She was tired anyways. She was up late with the Mihael girls last night. Those were some good times.

Avery looked over at the girl who had plopped herself down next to him and buried her head in her arms. "Hey!" he said, and then he noticed a Gryffindor boy sit down next to her. When Aaliyah spoke, he realized that she sounded rather... well, off. Not sad, not mad, but definitely not the usual happy and perky Aaliyah he was used to seeing. After looking at Aaliyah for a few moments, he looked back at the Gryffindor boy and introduced himself. "Err," he began shyly. "Hey, I'm Avery! From Hufflepuff. I've seen you around before!"

Strolling down the cobble stone path towards Herbology class with Nort dragging behind, Gryphon looked rather happy this morning. Cheesy in fact dressed in her pink and white school attire. It must have been the sandwich from the other day having its effect on her- for she wasn't hyper or excitable...just really happy . =]

"Hurry up slowpoke," Gryphon called to Nort behind her making her way into the green house class room and directly sitting herself in the front row. Spying Aaliyah, Gryphon promptly waved a silent hello with a smile and then sat facing towards the t.a.

[size=1Following close behind, Nort Flower dressed similarly in pink and white uniform entered the class too. "Shud up ya fat pooh!" he called after Gryphon. Nort followed them down the front row, spying Gryphon's wave toward Aaliyah, prompting him also to wave and smile a friendly hello. Nort took a seat next to Gryphon, automatically taking out his drawing book before his class stuff.

Reaching into his bag, Nort also produced a thick brown case, which when opening reveal to hold a pair of thick square glasses. Unfolding them, Nort put them on, sweeping his fringe out of his eyes momentarily then beginning to doodle upon the clean white page. [/size]

When Nort sat down next to her, Gryphon went to stick her tongue out at him, however failed in this action of taunting. As there appeared to be thick square glasses sitting upon Nort's nose. Raising her eyebrows her lips forming a little 'o' Gryphon extremely slowly reach out and then quickly slipped the glasses off him, placing them on her own nose at the end. Looking through them always seemed to make her go cross eyed a bit so this was the only way she could deal with wearing them. Looking all librarian-like.

"I am not a fat pooh, you stinky grub turtle." She said to him matter-of-factly. Sitting a bit straighter in her chair as she got out a book and the many coloured, muggle, connecter pens she owned. Starting to doodle a hideously weird picture with the label of Nort the stinky grub turtle. As she drew she said to him "Grow some legs and maybe you'll actually keep up with me grubbiebum."

With Liyah still with her head buried in her hands the Hufflepuff next to her turned around.

"Hey, I'm Avery! From Hufflepuff. I've seen you around before!"

Troy looked at the boy and smiled politely,"Hey Avery, I'm Troy, I'm a Gryffindor..yeah i've seen you around too, how are you?" he asked.

Troy wondered at the same time why Liyah had her head buried in her arms, "Hey Liyah, you okay?" he asked.

The first student arrived was a Hufflepuff, questioning Mrs. Kohn's disappearance, but Timothy would wait until the rest of her class showed up. It seems like this bunch was a chatty one, but Timothy always gave time for his students to chat amongst each other before starting class. Though he wondered himself why Bernadette had left without consulting him.

Finally it was time to begin, and Timothy began whistling out loud as he got up from his desk and began distributing the Mandrakes to each student. "Morning class." He began as he walked around with the last Mandrake in his hand to set on his own table up front. "I am Professor Linn. You can call me Tim, Timothy, Mr. Linn, Professor. Whatever floats your boat. I'll be taking over for Mrs. Kohn."

He looked up to eye each student with a wide smile across his face. Waving his wand in the air, supplies such as gloves, ear muffs, new pots, and etc floated into the air above the students' heads and landed right on their table. "Mrs. Kohn resigned her position for some unknown reason, so you're all stuck with me. Anyway, today we'll be learning about Mandrakes and Abyssinian Shrivelfigs.

"Also, we'll be replanting the Mandrakes first, since I'll start with this plant, and then pruning Abyssinian Shrivelfigs. This is important, but at the end of class you will not receive any homework. Any questions before we begin?" He asked as he stepped back to take a seat on his desk again.

Shayna made her way down the greenhouses. It was a beautiful day and she couldn't help but let a small smile escape her lips. Oh how Josh loved beautiful days like this. Josh, her twin brother who she missed so much. She sighed and got to the greenhouses.

Upon entering she saw that everyone knew someone in there so she decided to once again sit by herself in the back corner. She looked up and saw that instead of Ms. Kohn she saw the professor. She shrugged and went to pull out her things.

A small bruise forming on her head, Aaliyah glanced up again. She happened to see Nort and Gryphon waving at her. Turning red, Aaliyah put her head back down. I'm such an idiot, she thought. I'm gonna embarass myself in front of him. I can't look up anymore. He's gonna ask why my forehead is a different color. Aaliyah did not know it but the small bruise was begining to grow bigger and noticeable, even behind her bangs.

The Mihael turned her head to the side when Troy questioned her. "You didn't see me run into the door did you?" she asked quietly. Nort had come into the classroom after Troy so if Troy didn't see it, then neither did Nort.

Troy looked at Liyah as she turned around.

"You didn't see me run into the door did you?"

Troy laughed hard, "You ran into the door, that's hilarious" he whispered keeping his voice down so other people would not here, he did not want Liyah to get embarressed.

Troy had saw Liyah glance at a Mihael boy before she put her head back down and he thought'hmm is that the boy she was in a rush to meet when we were down by the lake' he smiled, now he thought he realised why Liyah would be more embarrassed then she usually would.

"No i didn't see you run into the door" he laughed again, but quietly.
"Ooh you have a bit of a nasty bruise showing up, it's small but it's turning slightly blue" he said sympathetically.

Brady walked into class. He wasl ate but that wasn't naything new for him. He slipped into calss. There were a couple of students. He took a seat in the middle of the room. He organised his things and sat up wondering what was going on in class.

He looked around him wondering what they were doing and just followed along hopeing to figure out soon what they were actually doing instead of following. Sometimes he hated beig late.

"Damnit," Aaliyah muttered as she pushed her bangs down over the bruise. But at least few people if no one saw her run into the door. And luckily Troy didn't ask why she had done so. This was why she was friends with him.

"It's not hilarious," she mumbled, a little miffed. "It won't be until we're old and fat and have nothing better to do but sit around and talk about all the stupid stuff Liyah did when she was a kid." She then glanced at the teacher, waiting for him to begin. She liked the idea of no homework.

"Grrr," she thought. Late. She had been doing so well with being on time now it went right out the window. She figured she couldn't have been that late since she caught the tail end of what the Professor was saying. She recognized him as the head of Mihael house. That made her breathe easy for a moment. She also spotted some students she knew. Ave, Liyah & Troy Boy. She sat down at a seat near them and whispered. "Hey, what did I miss? All I heard was any questions."
