Max could hear Malachi's chuckle around her as he spoke of a bunny named fluffy. She smiled at how adorable it sounded. Then he summoned the bunny. She waited a few moments for it to appear. She could hear faintly in the distance a girl screaming. She laughed silently to herself. Bunnies aren't that scary, she thought to herself. Her thoughts were interrupted as she spotted the bunny just a few moments sooner than Malachi. She could see a dark form in the night getting closer, and soon enough it was in his hand.
Max took it from his hand and lifted it up. "Wow, now this one's a cutie." she smiled. It was the cutest black colored, red eyed bunny she'd ever seen. A blood red 'Fluffy' stood out on the arm. squeezed it slightly in her hands, noting how soft it was, and how... fluffy it was, no pun intended. "Wow, you got some skills." she smiled, looking up at him. She looked down again at Fluffy. She was charmed by the large red x's for eyes that just seemed to look into her soul. That boy knew how to make bunnies.
Malachi didn't really tell people that he made bunnies in his spare time. He figured that might be embarassing, but maybe that would get him a girl. He looked at her with a grin. "I made another one, so you can have it if you want. I made a girl version of pink and black.", he said and smiled, wondering if she liked pink better than a dark red. He couldn't say blood red, because that would be crimson. The red of fluffy was like fire. Then again, fire could be many colors in the magical world.
Max looked between Fluffy and Malachi, her mouth dropping again. "You'd-" she stuttered. "You'd give me Fluffy?" she asked. A big grin appeared on her face. She looked down at the cute little bunny in her hands. He talked of a pink one. "I think I'd like to give fluffy a home." she said. Her face was still lit up with her smile. She huggled it softly. "You're the best." she said. She looked back at him. "I've never had a friend so kind and trusting like you before." she said. She looked down at Fluffy. "You know, I'm glad you came out here tonight." she said. She looked up at the tree. One more memory to add to it's long history. She stood up, holding cute little Fluffy, and pulled out her wand. It was unusually long, but she liked it that way. She stood in front of the tree and turned to Malachi. "You know, I think we need to add this to my tree." she smiled. She held her hand out in front to help him up so he could join in the fun.
Malachi smirked as she seemed so suprised that he would give her fluffy. It was no big deal for him, but it would be a sign of their new friendship. What was weird, he considered her a best friend, though he'd only met her tonight. She was really cool and they got along great, and they liked the same things. He could only imagine what this Aiden guy was like. If he really was going out with her, that meant he should like the same things too. Maybe he'd get a two for one deal as a best or at least a close friend. Then when he got a girlfriend they could double-date or something. That'd be cool.
Hearing the girl talk about a tree, he tilted his head to the side, something cracking. "Ow.", he chuckled and grabbed her hand, getting up and walking over to the tree she was standing in front of. "So, what's so special about this tree, Max?", he asked her, looking at what looked like an ordinary willow tree.
Max looked over at Malachi and it seemed like it was no big deal giving her Fluffy. He didn't understand, though. She had never once been given anything beside's Aiden's heart. Everything she had ever had was purchased by her and her alone. No one had ever taken the thought into consideration of giving little Maxy a present, or a gift. To her, something as simple as giving a cute bunny named Fluffy as a sign of friendship was one of the things that would stay in her life always. She'd keep Fluffy in perfect condition [thanks to magic] and their friendship would prosper and grow. Nothing could mess that up now.
Max looked concerned at Malachi as she heard a crack from his neck. "You ok?" she asked. but once he started to chuckle she relaxed. She didn't want her new friend to be getting hurt now! But no time for thoughts like that. Malachi and Max stood in front of a seemingly simple willow. It was much more than that, however. When he asked her of it, she smiled. "Well, at first, it was just any old tree. Until I climbed up top to find some scratched in names." she tilted her head to the willow's long branches and caught some dark letters etched into the bark. "The names were Syrylia and Markus Gaydge." she paused. "My parents." It was the only thing her fake father could not take away. "Then, my second year here, I made a friend, and we etched our friendship into the woods." she nodded towards a mark a few feet up from where they were. "And last term, this is where Aiden learned of what I truly am." she said. He had known before about her 'condition', but the memory she was thinking of was when he saw her turn. The memory of Aiden's crosshairs with fate. The memory of his could-have-been death.
Max turned to him. "Now this is the first place we met, and the day I got Fluffy." she gave the dark red and black bunny a loving hug. "So we must add it to the tree's legacy." she smild. She pulled him closer to the bark. With her wand in hand, she wrote in pointed, sharp letters her own name. "You get to add your own name." she smiled, nodding towards the tree. "Then we'll both add Fluffy's." No one really understood Max's love for the tree, or the importance of her memories, but they were a part of it just as much as she was.
Malachi smiled as his new friend asked him about his neck. "Must have been stiff or something. Maybe I slept on it wrong.", he guessed and walked with her to the tree again, watching her hug the bunny he made. A smile crept onto his face at her love for the deathdoll. It made him smile to see someone liking one of his own creation. "You know, that doll took two hours to make.", he chuckled and looked at Max as she took out her long wand. He guess it was 13" or so. His own was only 10 inches.
Hearing her story, made his smile widen. He thought it was cute how she loved the tree so much. It actually made him feel good to know that she wanted him to be part of the tree's legacy, and he knew the legacy would grow on, for they both had many terms to come, Malachi more than Max, but Malachi didn't know what year she was in. "I see why it's so important.", he told her and took out his wand and pointed at the tree, his wand emitting blue sparks. He wrote his name; Malachi
"You want to write fluffies?", he asked with a smile. "Or shall we enchant him?", he asked.
Max relaxed as he explained. "You best be careful." she smiled. "Can't have my newest friend getting all broken now." She was still clutching her new deathdoll when she saw Malachi smiling. He must have thought she was silly, how much she could love a doll just given to her. It seemed quite normal to her. She heard Malachi point out how long it took the doll to be made. "Really?" she said. "You're one fast artist." she said. "I tried making a heart in Home ec when I went to muggle school and it took like three weeks!" she admitted.
Max watched Malachi's smile grow ever so slightly during her silly tale of her love for a mere tree. In her mind, of course, the tree was part of her, so it didnt' seem so silly to her. She was a bit embarrassed though. "I feel like a tree hugger." she smiled, as she reached over and hugged the tree. She had to make the statement true. She let go as Malachi stepped up and wrote his name in very neat, swift strokes. Most people would be bothered when a guy's handwriting was better than her own, but she didn't mind much. She was a goofy little lefty, so it made sense that she had crappy handwriting.
Max thought about Malachi's question for oh... about half a second. "Let's enchant him." she smiled. It'd be cute little bunny handwriting, and she couldn't wait to see that. She nodded towards him. "Good thinking."
Malachi smirked as she hugged the tree, leaning against another as he waited for her to reply to her question about the bunny. As she said that she wanted to enchant it, he got out his wand again. "It'll take both of us.", he chuckled and pointed his wand at the little bunny, waiting for the other girl.
Max laughed along with Malachi. He was right. She set her wand on the bunny. "Ok, here we go." she said, starting the enchantment. It took a few moments, but soon the bunny was bouncing up and down in her hands. It's nose twitched and looked almost like a real bunny. She laughed again. "Isn't he cute?" she said. It bounded up the tree at the flick of her wrist and put two paws underneath their names. She moved her wand very carefully and while keeping the enchantment on the bunny intact, she wrote Fluffy beneath it using his energy to add it's own handwriting. She giggled when she saw it. "Perfect." she said.
Max turned to Malachi. "Now Fluffy may be joining my little family, but if it wasn't for your cute little bunny, well none of this would have happened." she was smiling. "I vote that your bunny's name gets put up on the tree too." she set her wand down, but little Fluffy was still enchanted. She chuckled. "I think I'll keep him like this for tonight." she said. The disenchantment charm was easy enough to be performed by the fourth year. She clutched the lively bunny to her and stroked it's soft fur.
Malachi looked at the bunny as it came to life, the red X on its eye glowing magically. He got a happy, wide smile as his now big eyes looked at his creation coming to life. "Whoa.", he whispered to himself, looking at the bunny as it jumped in the other girls hands, writing it's name on the tree. He chuckled and looked at it be hyper. "Its awesome.", he replied back, looking at their names. "Maybe you should keep it like that. It's awesome."
Max chuckled at Malachi's whisper. He was right, of course. I mean, look at Fluffy! He was alive... In a way... And he was the cutest little hyper bunny she had ever seen. held him up to Malachi. "Wanna pet him? He actually responds now!" she said. When Malachi suggested keeping Fluffy the way he was, she nodded. "I might have to reverse it during class and things, but otherwise he'll be a lively little ball of fur!" she smiled.
Max looked up at the tree. "This thing is almost perfect." she said more to herself than Malachi. All the tree needed now was Aiden and Maxy's names and it would be perfect. She had to bring him out some time to show her tree off. She turned to look at Malachi. Her face was lit up in a mischevious smile. "Hey, I have an idea." she said. She looked up at the tree. "Ever wonder what this forest looks like from the height of a tree?" she asked.
Malachi smirked at the other girl and put his hand out, stroking the enchanted bunny's head, watching it wiggle it's nose and dim its eyes, which probably meant he was closing them, so the glow went out until he opened them again. "Hah, this Aiden guy isn't going to come beat me up if he see's our name in a tree will he?", he asked with a chuckle. It did make sense, though.
When she asked her question, the thought left his mind. "Yeah, sure.", he chuckled and jumped up, hanging onto a branch. He had a little frame, so he was flexible, and he could climb really good. He swung a couple times, finally getting his feet on the branch he was hanging out. Malachi cross his feet above the branch and lifted himself so he was on the branch, his stomach against the wood. He pushed off the branch so he sat up, the branch between his pant legs now.
Max chuckled as Malachi pet Fluffy and was so entranced by the bunny. Then he made an excellent point. "Yeah, good call." she said. "I'll make sure to tell him in the morning what happened. He's not that kind of jealous cause he knows that I love him, so you'll be fine as long as I warn him ahead of time." she said. She thought about it for a second. She could picture Aiden freaking out and hunting Malachi down. She knew he'd never be like that, though. They were too insanely in love for him to get jealous over her newest bestest buddy. At least, she hoped.
Max watched Malachi hop up the tree with an approving expression. She waited till he was seated. With unnatural ease and gracefullness, she hopped from branch to branch all the way to the tippy top of the tree. Malachi was right next to her now. She looked out at the forest. The trees were quiet, but they were all moving in the breeze like an army, every step mimicked, all of the trees following the same pattern. It was... Magical, to say the least. "Isn't it amazing?" she asked Malachi.
Malachi half-smirked, half-groaned at her unsure look. Thats all he needed, an angry kid coming at him with fists. He watched her jump. "Come on! Not all of us are supernatural creatures.", he whispered so she could hear at mid-point of the tree. He climbed as fast as he could. He stood up on a wide branch about 3/4 of the way up.
Biting his pierced lip, He bent his legs and jumped up high, holding onto a branch, the branch below him shaking a little. He pulled down on the branch, his legs stretching up under the branch, bending over it so he could hang upside down. Malachi thrusted his head upwards so he sat on the branch, then climbing a little to meet Max at the top, sighing heavily. He'd been in gymnastics when he was you, but he never climbed that high. "Jeez, I've never--", he was cut off by the scenery.
"Wow--yeah, it's great.", he said, looking around. He could see the autumn leaves blowing in the breeze, but one gust of wind knocked a bunch of dead leaves in his face. He wiped his face, one leaf in his mouth by the stem. "Ugh.", he groaned and spit it out, watching it fly away, a roll of the eyes and a smirk on his face.
Max watched Malachi's expression carefully, and finally seeing a comprimise, she laughed. "Don't worry, I won't let him hurt you." she said. She poked at her biceps. "Unnaturally strong, remember?" she said. She laughed down at Malachi as he made his own comment in a tone she thought he didn't believe she'd hear. "I can't help myself." she called down from the top. "What can I say, I don't get to play around or show off often." she smirked.
Max watched his excellent performance[for a human] as he climbed up to meet her. "Tough climb?" she joked. She heard him get cut off as he took in the gorgeous scenery. She smiled. So I'm not the only one who appreciates nature, she thought to herself. "If you like this view, wait until I take you up to the roof of the Dallin Tower." she said. "It's a much nicer view from up there." She could feel a breeze picking up, and dodged the dozens of leaves whizzing by her head. Malachi wasn't so lucky. She laughed as he spit out a leaf. "It's hard to believe, but you aren't the first of my friends to be forced to eat a leaf." she smiled. "So how did it taste?" she asked. "Like chicken?"
Malachi groaned as he spat out another leaf, looking at her as she told him about the tower, but then heard her laugh at him. He spat out a piece of orange leaf and glared playfully at her. "It was crunchy, and tasted maybe like crunchy chicken skin, if it was rotted and wrapped in paper.", he smirked at his own humor and looked around. "I love the autumn.", he sighed. It was his favorite season.
Max saw Malachi glare at her, which made her smile grow even more. When he explained what the leaf tasted like, she secretly grimaced. "Sounds delicious, but I think I'll leave the leaf eating to you, ok?" she smiled. A fresh breeze came by and surrounded her. It felt good to be out again. To be free. If only she could turn and run around, even if it was just for a moment or two. She didn't want to scare Malachi, of course, so she decided against it. She could control herself when she transformed on her own, and the full moon above them kept her even more in control especially since she had begun to exercise control as a young... Pup. But after only knowing Malachi for a few hours, it was best to be left alone, no matter the perfect night.
Max was pulled from her thoughts as Malachi spoke about autumn. She nodded. "I agree. It's when the leaves are colorful and can dance across the sky without the world's interference." she smiled. She looked over at him. "And it's not too hot to survive outside or so cold we get hypothermia just standing outside." she smiled. "Either way, Autumn is the best time of the year."
Malachi grinned at her little crack there. So, she was funny too. But, nobody could beat Malachi at a contest of sarcasm, for he was the king. Well, in his own mind. "Yeah, it's great. But it's very windy.", he chuckled and sat on a big branch.
Max looked back out towards the forest. The trees were moving ever so gently with the breeze. But wait... What was that? She took a second look and sure enough there was a tree moving the opposite way, with another tree doing the same once the first stopped. Something was out there. She couldn't see close enough from where she was, but she wasn't worried. It was very rare to find something strong enough to get rid of Max, and since they were high in the tree and most dangerous forest animals don't know how to climb trees, she discerned the thought. What could she do besides scare Malachi?
Max nodded as Malachi pointed out the windiness of Autumn. "But that's what makes it so special. The only time in any of the seasons where teh wind has control of what lays upo n the ground. It can make the leaves dance, the clouds form odd shapes, and it's even strong enough to pull a tree from the ground and flip over crazy muggle machines." she said. She was very crazy about the wind so she just adored the wind blowing around her.
Malachi looked at the other girl with a smirk as she looked around. He thought nothing of it and listened to what she had to say. "Yeah, i guess.", he smirked again then examined what she said. "Are you talking about a tornado?", he chuckled, looking around as he heard something. He closed his eyes and listened, hearing something in the next tree. He looked over at the branch across from him and smirked, seeing...what was that? It looked like a gnome? In the forest? Weren't they supposed to be on the..well, lawns?
Even though the other girl was a wolf, he still felt the need to protect his friend. He stepped back and leaped to the branch, ,hanging onto the end, smirking as he let go, the branch flinging the gnome across the tree's and by the lake, which was far from the forest. He smirked and grabbed onto the branch below as he fell. He grinned and thrust himself back up to Max. "Unnaturally strong, remember?", he asked with a chuckle, mocking what she said before.
