Max laughed and playfully pushed him, careful not to push him too far. "No, those are the big scary things that pick up houses. Those muggle machines, I think they're called cars, are lighter and can be pushed over much easier." she smiled. Her smile faded just a fraction as Malachi closed his eyes, his face intent on something. She was very curious as to what he was doing, but since she couldn't actually read minds[could she?], she would just have to wait and see. Waiting. How fun.
Max gasped as Malachi jumped from one branch to another, flinging a gnome away and climbing back up to sit down beside her. "Unnaturally strong indeed." She pretended to glare as he mocked her. "Oh, come off it." she smiled. "You should be more careful, you know. Had you fallen, I would have been running faster than the wind to catch you at the bottom so you wouldn't go splat." she laughed. "'And all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't put Mallie back together again,'" she giggled.
"Damn straight.", he smirked at her glare, looking at the branch he just swung on, the swinging slowing down. He looked back at the girl with a smirk. "Ah, I wouldn't went splat.", he chuckled, then heard that nickname. It was pretty good. He liked it. "Nice, I like that nickname there. I'll keep it.", he chuckled and sat back on the branch.
Max chuckled at his reply. He was such a silly boy. But hey, that's why they get along so well. She shrugged. "You're right. Cause I would have caught you before you went splat, of course." she smiled. "But since you're so great and can't fall, I guess I'm not needed." she stood up at the top of that willow tree, looked back at Malichi once, and stepped off, falling lightly to the ground. So she skipped a few times on the trees. His eyes couldn't catch her cheating!
Max heard Malichi's, or should she say Mallie's response to the nickname she apparantly just bestowed upon the boy. She smiled in spite of herself. She was glad to have an impact on him, even if it was a small one. He had given her so much in one night that she was amazed that she could even pay him back. She looked back up at him, and seeing some movement not too far from where she was standing, decided she would go back up. To keep Mallie safe of course. She hopped up unnusually fast and sat down beside him again. "Good thing I've got this unnaturally strong man sitting next to me so I'm nice and safe." she jabbed.
Malachi looked at her with a smirk as she smiled, then jumped down. He didn't notice her "cheating". He figured she wanted to leave the tree so he leaped, hanging onto the same branch he was sitting on when she came back upwards. He held on and revolved back at a 90degree angle, sitting on the branch as if he were that muggle superhero, spiderman. He was crouched and his hand was on the branch. He sat back against a forked branch, using it as a backrest. He looked over at her with a smirk.
"See there, you feel safer already, dont you?", he smirked and leaned his head back against the leaves. There were so many piled together it was like a pillow. He could just sit there all day and look at the night sky. "So, it's a big moon out there..", he smirked, seeing it was full, hoping she didn't turn.
Max saw Malachi switch branches as she climbed herself quickly back up. That boy was a walking time bomb! She could never guess when he'd be in danger next! Once she was comfortably sitting down, she looked over at Mallie. "You, little mister, are such a handful. How will I ever keep you from dying the way you act?" she smirked. "I like my friends unbroken by the way. Broken friends you can't mend yourself aren't any fun." she said. She looked over at the goofy boy just a foot away. She was glad she met him tonight. How bored would she have been without him?
"Oh, yes. I feel like I'm a princess with guards all around me keeping me extra safe and snug." Max chuckled. "Boy, do you have an ego?" She listened in as he pointed out the moon and caught the slightest hint of fear. She decided to make it clear she was fine. "Yeah. Gorgeous." she said. "I've always loved the full moons. They're so peaceful, and I can just sit underneath one for hours writing without needing a single light."
Malachi smirked as he looked over at the brunette. "I just like to have fun. I like adventure, I guess. Why else would I come into this forest?", he asked, totally forgetting his dream since he started talking with his new best friend. It was amazing how talking to someone could make you forget, or at least feel better about your problems. He grinned at her joke.
"Aw, your no fun.", he chuckled and looked at the moon again, the unsure feeling in the pit of his stomach fading. When she said that she liked to sit under the moon for hours, a voice told him he was fine, that she wouldn't turn. Of course wolves were unpredictable but he knew that this girl would never harm him unintentionally.
Max nodded with a fake attitude of irritation. "Fine, so you have a good reason. But still, Mister O'Mallie, I say you should always do your dangerous adventuring with me present." she smiled. Of course, she was already hoping to accompany him on crazy adventures and goofy little missions, but at least this way she can joke around. She was surprised that she had warmed up to Malachi so quicklly when usually it took days to get fully accustomed to being around people. It even took her a day to be used to being so close to Aiden, but something about Malachi made everything easier.
"Oh, you don't know what fun is until you feel the pleasures of a true run, or in your case, a big fight with a dangerous, scary monster." Max smiled. She could feel his pulse lowering, and she was glad that he trusted her so quickly. Most people felt unnaturallably uncomfortable around her because of her 'condition', but it was as if Mallie was immune. Lucky him!
Malachi smirked at her and nodded. "Fine, I'll call you whenever I have to sneak past a prefect. You can turn and knock him out and I can run.", he chuckled softly and looked back up at the sky, his icy blue eyes looking at her again as she talked about fighting a creature. "Oh yeah? Well you stay where you are so I can miss that experience.", he grinned.
Max laughed. "Yeah, because that's all I'm useful for. Taking out the prefect. I feel so special now." she smiled. There were only two people in the world that she had found that could make her laugh and one of them was sitting in front of her. The other, of course, was sleeping in his bed all nice and cozy. She was glad that Mallie made her laugh, though, because laughing through life really did make everything easier. She laughed at his next response. "What happened to the tough Mallie who was 'unnaturally strong' and here to protect me from the big monster?" she smirked. The boy could be so curious sometimes it made her wish that she could hearn more about him. She had no doubt she would, though, because of how well ther firendshipi s already blossoming.
Max had an idea. The creature roaming below her haad disappeared as far as she could tell, so what kept them from exploring? Nothing at all! "Hey, Mallie." she started, looking over at him. "Do you want to go exploring the forest?" she asked. She hadn't been able to explore for a long time, since at least last term! She was itching to explore and find adventures.
Looking at her, his icy gaze rested on her dark eyes. "See, thats where you have everything mixed.", he said, putting his hand on his chest. "I...", he strayed, his hand pointing at his friend. "Cannot protect you from the scary monster if you become..the scary monster.", he smirked, of course meaning no offense to that. He smiled at her suggestion and sat up.
"Lets go.", he smiled and jumped down again, missing the branch to grab. He fell , his legs curled, hitting a branch, his legs making him flip, another branch making him flip the way his was before. He landed on the ground, amazingly on his feet. "Oww.", he laughed at himself, dusting off the back of his pants.
Max watched his movements when he messed with her about her 'condition'. When he smirked, she knew he was joking, which filled her with relief. "Whatever. I'm not a big scary monster when I control it." she turned away from him and folded her arms like she was mad. "Besides, as long as I look at my dinner before I eat it, I'll keep from actually eating you." she smirked herself. She knew she would never really eat Mallie or Aiden, but she still had to be careful around them. She didnt' want to scare them off.
Max was excited when Mallie said yes to exploring, but when he decided to fall, she freaked. She followed him all the way to the ground, ready to catch him if he decided to try to land on his head. Thankfully enough, he fell on his feet. "You're like some weird cat, falling on your feet." she shook her head disapprovingly. "The luckiest boy I've ever seen." she muttered under her breath. Someday your luck will run out, Mister O'Mallie, and I'm gonna have to save your butt. she thought to herself, smirking. She looked over at him. "Well, lets go!" she grabbedhim by the arm and headed off in the direction towards the deeper part of the woods. "If you get scared, just tell me and we can turn back." she smiled.
Malachi smirked at her as she went to the bottom. He got on his feet and looked at her with smirk, hearing her call him a cat. "Rawr.", he purred like a cat, making a claw with his thumb, index, and middle finger, smirking. When she grabbed his arm, he smirked and ran with her into the forest, deeper, where it was darker. "Spooky.", he smirked sarcastically and looked around, hearing owls.
Max laughed. "What a good cat you are!" she said. Malachi was purring and growling and scratching around in such a realistic way that she had to run over to him and pet him. She ruffled his hair with the biggest smirk on her face. Once they were off in pursuit of adventure in the forest, she made sure to keep a steady pace so Malachi didn't fall behind. She heard Malachi speak, and wondered how spooky an empty place like the Forbidden Forest could really be to a human. She shrugged to herself. "Just wait, Mallie. We'll find you something big and scary." she said. SHe thought for a moment. "Well, besides me of course."
"Yeah, well just dont eat me in your human form.", he smirked and walked through a little opening of a tree. "Hey, it's an entrance to something!", he told her and dove in, flipping on the ground. He stood up in awe, finding a circular spot enshrouded by thick tree's. In the center was a big lake or pond, with sparkling water. I mean, really sparkling. His eyes got big and he stepped forward, looking at the lilly pads going across the magical waters.
Max chuckled and playfully pushed Malachi. "I don't think you'd taste very good, no offense." she smiled. He was the silliest boy sometimes... Max eating Mallie? NEVER! Well, maybe if she was hungry enough, heehee. She followed Malachi through some trees to run into a large body of water that sparkled like diamonds. She was in awe. "This forest changes so much that even I've never found this place before." she said. She had never even heard of a pond that shimmered like that in the middle of the night. She looked up and the full moon wasn't obscured by trees. It looked as if there was a break in the canopy of trees above. She watched Malachi move up closer to it.
"Wow." Max said, walking over to kneel beside the pool. She didn't touch it for fear of ruining the beauty of it, but she did get close enough to look into the water. She could see her reflection filled with sparkles from the water. So, it's not the moon's doing, she thought to herself. She followed Malachi's eyes to the lily pads floating in the water. "This place is amazing." she said.
He looked at her and smiled, walking up to the edge of the waters. "Wait a second. I think I read about this.", he said and pulled the leg of his jeans up to reveal a big cut he'd gotten from falling. He bit his lipring and cupped water in his hands, letting it flow on his leg. Suddenly, the water sparkled on his leg, the cut sealing and growing new skin. "It's a healing spring.", he told her, looking back.
Max waited as Malachi tested the water. When he pulled up his pant leg to reveal the large cut, she was surprised. She didn't think he had gotten hurt. She didnt' have the time to ask him about it, however, because he poured water from the pool onto it, and it healed at an extremely fast rate. After a few seconds, it was as if it had never been there. She shivered. Magic as powerful as the healing spring was something she wasn't sure she wanted to think about. If there was power great enough to heal like that with a simple splash of water, what kind of evil was really in the world? She looked up as Malachi explained what it was. "Healing pool. Huh." she stated. She was still shocked. "I wonder who else knows of this place." she thought aloud. She knew that the healing pool was slightly useless to her, but since most students at the school weren't like her she couldn't say the same for them.
"Yeah, you could go in and healed in an hour if its bad enough, I'd say.", he smiled and stood up, pulling his pant leg down. "I bet nobody has seen this before. We had to cut down some branches to get in, after all."
Max nodded, and put her hand close enough to touch the water. It had a cooling sensation to it. "I wonder what would happen if you drank it." she thought aloud. She turned to Malachi. "I think you're right." she said. She looked around at the pool hidden within the forest. "I think we should keep it a secret between us, what do you think?" she asked. She could already see exactly how they got there in her mind. "We could fix the branches when we leave and secretly mark the trail from my tree." she analyzed the thought. She turned to him and smiled. "It could be our little secret." She looked back over at the pool. It was a wonderful, peaceful place. Should they let everyone see it and ruin it's magical properties,it's peacefulness? That was a thought she could picture too. Tons of students lined up around the pool, which was dimming with use and pollution from the students. The place would be destroyed.
"I dont know, maybe it would heal you internally?", he guessed and got up, looking at the other girl and nodding. "Yeah, we'll mark a trail.", he smiled "Let's go.", he said and smiled, running to the entrance, getting back out. After the girl followed and got out, he looked at the entrance. Once they were out, it closed back up, turning into a huge tree.
"W-Whoa? What happened to it?", he asked, wondering if they destroyed it. "Wait a sec.", he said, Malachi's quick mind observing different things. "I was hurt when we came here. We've never seen it before, even though you've came to the tree a million times.", he said inquisitively. He reached his his pocket and grabbed a jack skelington pocket knife. He held out his arm and closed his eyes, making a fast little cut on his forarm. He watched a teeny trickle of blood go down his arm, something making noise.
Stepping back, he saw the tree shake a little. He watched the tree, then looking at Max, looking back to see that the tree was slitting in half, revealing the entrance. "Whoa.", he whispered to himself. "It only opens when you're hurt.", he smiled and bit his lip. "Maybe there's an incantation too?", he asked, levitating water and putting it on his arm, the tree going back to normal. "Let's look for one on the tree. Maybe it's engraved.", he said and started searching the bark, running his fingers over the bark, feeling something indented.
